Decorate chaos

Notes:

Day 8: evergreen

Work Text:

They had decided to get a real tree. Honestly, how did Alfred manage to find a big one of these?

Jason stared at the tree him and Percy had picked out, it was a good size for their small apartment, but the pines? Oh he was going to kill the person who decided that it would be a smart idea to use real trees.

“Hey Perce, I didn’t even think you would celebrate Christmas,” Jason commented as he brought out a small box of ornament.

Percy gave him a questioning look, “why is that?” He asked. “Well, your dad being who he is, I didn’t really think, you would celebrate it as it’s more of a Christian holiday,” Jason said before quickly realizing what he said.

Christmas was not only a Christian holiday, and it came from Yule, which is pagan and would have been a variation to what the Greeks would celebrate.

Percy just gave him a look.

“Jace, just because my dad is a god doesn’t mean my mom didn’t want to do something like this for Christmas,” Percy said, a bit of sass and a smirk.

Jason just shook his head but opened the box filled with little ornaments, Percy putting on the log channel and the sound of fire crackling, which Jason once hated but learned to love with Percy, filled their small apartment as they began to decorate their tree.

By the end, it was tacky, it was weird, but it was perfect. The lights were red, yellow, blue, pink, green in that order and just repeated, the star shone brightly on top and the ornaments were stuck about.

And as much as Jason loves Alfred, a bit of chaos is always nice.
