Chapter Text
Such hot air... The pressure of that day repeated every night in his nightmares, like he didn't know how bad his choice was. What a hell...If he could have changed anything, he would. But there is no way, or maybe if he cared enough he would for example use time blades or anything else. But here he is again in that stupid volcano...On that stupid day...
Hot air, pressure from the volcano rising, as it was about to explode. Because it was. Kai was balancing at the rock, drifting through the lava. He was just about to take the fangblade. He needed to grab it, he would make sure everybody would finally value him. There would be no more " Argh, maybe you shouldn't really your full potential, if you can not handle this responsibility." Master Wu was too quick to judge him, in fact he just wanted to save golden weapons from Garmadon. And no matter how hard he tried to fool them, Kai knew he wanted to get his hands on weapons, just as he did before.
Well that's what he throught then. Now he know that Garmadon cared about his son more than stupid weapons. Nothing worth more than a child's life! That's not his fault, he was a stupid kid that didn't know what was valuable!! He would do anything to swap their places, because guilt was eating him from inside, and that was just wrong. But here he was again, watching his worst decision in life being made.
Finally Kai reached out to grab the fangblade, trying not to become a fried njnja.
-" Kai! Help!!" - he heard Lloyd's voice from behind. Kai immediately turned, his big brother instincts kicking in. Lloyd was trying not to fall from the small rock, which was hardly staying on the hot lava surface. He needed to save him, even if he is a small brat. But the fangblade... It is either Lloyd or it. But what is more important? A stupid child, or the weapon that Pythor wanted to use to bring back the Great Devourer. And if he would get a fangblade.... Kai saw a small opening right near him. He could have tried to go and get both kid and blade, but then the opening would close, abd everything would be doomed.
-" Sorry, kid. But that's more important." - with these words, he grabbed the fangblade, and using spinjitsu jumped into the opening, leaving Lloyd behind. Leaving him to die...
Kai set up in bed, sweating from this stupid nightmare, no... memory that kept haunting him. He was the only one who knew what happened there, and that was his strongest sin and secret. And he had nobody to share it with. When he returned from the volcano, he told everybody he tried. He tried his best to get both, but failed. Such disgusting lies. He felt sick at his stomach remembering how he said it. Oh god here it goes again, stupid nausea feeling in throat. He swallowed it back, and stood up from the bed. It was not a right time, to think about it.
* * *
Patrol was going really calm. It was slightly windy, but otherwise the weather was good. But actually Kai hated wind. It reminded of Morro...stupid ghost. But others didn't seem to have problem. They were sitting at top of building, watching streets under them. People seemed to hurry somewhere, just as usual. None of them seemed to get any good sleep this night. Nya and Jay seemed to have dark circles, God! all of them had dark circles under their eyes, except for Zane, and it's only because he is a nindroid.
Since the last attack on the city, only 2 weeks have passed, but people seemed to return to normal. Only ninjas seemed to have a problem with it. Maybe they were getting tired? Old? ( God no) Kai indeed felt like trash. Through all the years, they still didn't have a leader. So they were all taking turns. Master Wu said that the green ninja would have been their leader, but they never found him. Does the destiny just hates them?
-" I believe there is no point to stay here." - Finally mumbled Cole. They all sighed, but silently agreed. Most likely none of the vilians would dare to start their activities now.
-" I didn't even finish my video game" - Jay sighed, and lay down on ground.
They again stared into nowhere. Maybe it was time to go. Kai stood up, and already turned around to follow others, when something caught his eye. Something in a dark alley, something moving, something not being just a regular homeless person.
-”Um, guys.” - he called. They turned back to him. -”I think we should check that alley.”
-”Serioulsy Kai? Are you sure we really need it?’- argued Nya. She was right, there was no point or reason. But right now, it felt quite logical.
-” Yes. I don’t know why, but I just get this feeling. Trust me.” - They watched him like an idiot, then finally shrugged it off and followed. They elegantly jump down on the ground, and get in the alley. It wasn’t really big, but what Kai saw was not normal size, how could it have gotten here? They were taking careful steps, making sure not to fall over, or step on anybody.
They finally get into a more clear surrounding. They were standing in the small space, with dead end. And it was quit dark, even through it was not that dark yet. Sun was just setting down, but because of how buildings were located, it created a shadow that was covering all the space.
-" Umm, Zane. Can you get your leg off my foot?" - mumbled Cole. Zane looked at him confused, slightly raising his eyebrow.
-” I am not doing it.” - not certainly answered Zane. Cole looked at him confused, until Nya almost fell over.
-” Come on, not funny at all.” Why would they even choose to go to a place like this? Kai sighed, and already wanted to go away, before all of them would start arguing. He lit a fire in his palm, but almost immediately he fell back on a hard, cold ground. Something was moving right under their feet.
Jay shot the lighting at the shadow that just disappeared near fire ninja, leaving the burned spot right near his head.
-”Hey!” - Kai shot up forward, getting ready. They all again looked around, trying to see what keeps messing with them.
- ‘ Any idea what this is, Zane?’
- ‘ It is too dark to see anything right now.” - the nindroid replayed.
-” Well then” - he took a deep breath, and then snapped his fingers, making the fire light up at some places. He wasn’t really good at this trick, and almost set the monastery on fire 3 times while practicing. But the catch was that it was supposed to be harmless, and be used as a light. The flame was bright enough to finally light up this place. But there was nothing. He scoffed, but then Nya pointed to the right.
-” It is there!” - with the small part of his sight he saw something quickly moving away, and this was something that had a tail. Tail covered in dark red scales. Tail of a dragon. God, they don’t need a homeless dragon running around causing chaos, they just fixed the city.
It was trying to get away from them. Somehow (well not somehow, using its claws, and probably wings) it climbed up by the wall, and on the roof. What is it even doing here? Did it got lost? Well no matter what, it's better to catch it, before it will do something more thab just mess with their balances.
The sky already turned dark, and stars were visible. The dragon ( did it grow bigger? It seems bigger now. Before that it was the size of the small baby dragon, now it looks by at least 4 years) ran on roof, jumping down and up to get to another building. Ninjas raced after it, until they finally stopped, watching as a dragon ran over to a person. The person was dressed all in black, having a cloak that was also black, and looked slightly burned at the ends. On top of all of that strangle look he was wearing a mask. And almost like destiny itself decided to laugh at them, it looked like the Oni mask. Those stupid masks that this bitch Harumi was getting to resurrect Garmadon. God she just tricked all of them, and then almost killed.
This one was gold, with green patterns, two horns, and purple “eyes”. The dragon leaned into the person's hand, and almost defensively turned to them.
-” I see you found my friend.”
