Work Text:
It’s all I ever wanted
They were back together again, the squad. All of them rebels now, the life of the Republic and the Empire far behind.
Well, as far behind as the Empire could be right now, as they were still fighting against it.
But the important thing was, they were together again. Perhaps not the dream team anymore they had used to be, alas all of them making their best in this new life of being a rebel.
Even Scorch. The one having had the hardest time to settle in.
And then, there was the mending fences thing happening. The other three still friendly, but Sev, well, he had been a rebel long time now, having new friends and a new purpose and a small chip still on his shoulders even if he played it cool, trying not to let the past effect his relationship with his former squad mates.
“So, Sev, we’re having a get-together later on. Us and a few of the pilots. You game?” Fixes asked, having been more friendly with Sev lately while the other two kept their distance still.
“I.. dunno. I mean, it’s not like we’re friends now are we?” Sev unsure as to what they were, former teammates, former enemies maybe, alas now? It was a good guess as any.
“Hey, pal, sure we are. I mean, you said you forgave us, ya know, for that thing.”
“You mean leaving me for dead.” Yeah, that one never got old did it!
“That, but yeah, I mean, I know Boss and Scorch miss ya. We all do.”
“We’re talking here, right now. And we hang out too.”
“Yeah, yer right. But well, it would be nice to have the whole gang together again, like old times.”
Sev gave Fixer a look, the one telling. “This, is never going to be like old times, Fix.”
“Yeah, I hear ya.”
It was a stupid thing to say, especially after everything having happened so far. But it was something they used to say, a thing for the clones he guessed.
They were quite for a moment, but then Fixer thought of something.
His arm snaking around the clearly distraught Sev. Drawing his friend in for a tight hug.
“Hey!”
“Oh shut up Sev! This is good for ya.”
It took a moment, Sev leaning into the hug fully, his own arms snaking around his friend.
“Yeah, you’re right. A hug was all I ever needed.”
