Chapter Text
Grian sat in her changing room doing her makeup. She didn’t have a recording or a concert today but she had something much more exciting planned for the day. She began delicately braiding her hair before someone knocked on the door.
“Griba? May I come in?”
Grian put her hair brush down and walked to the door to let her manager into the room. “Pearl! What are you doing here? Didn’t I tell you to take the day off?” She gently hugged Pearl before stepping back into the room and letting her inside.
Pearl followed Grian into the dressing room and sat on the plush loveseat in the corner. “You did, but I wanted to come see how you were doing! It is your first date after all.” She smirked and wiggled her eyebrows, prompting Grian to scowl at her. “Who’s it with any ways? You never told us.” Pearl smiled expectantly at Grian as the pop star resumed her hair braiding.
“I actually don’t know either. Dad set me up with them. Said it was ‘someone from my line of work’ but knowing dad that could mean anything from a fellow pop star to a street rapper.” Grian chuckled to herself as she put her hair ties in.
“Wait, Xisuma set you up on a date? Damn, that’s a surprise.”
Grian shrugs “I think that Keralis probably had some input on the matter. Can you hand that to me?” She points to her bag on a chair and Pearl hands it to her.
“That would make a little more sense but still who could he possibly have set you up with? Do you think it’s someone we know?”
Grian reaches into the satin hand bag and pulls out a small lipstick. “I don’t know Pearl. I feel like if Xisuma had any personal connection with them we would have heard about it by now so I’m guessing he met them through someone else. Like I said though, Keralis probably had something to do with it.” Grian delicately applied her deep red lipstick and rubbed her lips together a few times before turning to face Pearl. “How do I look?” She spun around and posed dramatically in front of her manager.
“Gorgeous as always sis!” Pearl smiled as she examined Grian’s outfit. “I love the dress, where did you get it from?”
Grian giggled and sat down in front of the mirror again to do one final check. “Gem gave it to me for my birthday last month! I’ve been dying for a chance to wear it since!”
“Well it looks amazing on you!” Pearl gasps and walks to the door. “I just remembered that I also have a gift for you. I’ll be right back!” Pearl exited the room and walks down the hallway to the foyer, leaving Grian by herself.
Grian adds a few accessories to her outfit and puts some makeup in her purse while she waits for her manager to return. Moments later Pearl’s footsteps can be heard coming towards the room once again. “Okay, I’m back! And I have something for you as well!” Pearl grins and excitedly hands Grian a wrapped box with a pink bow on it. “Open it!”
Grian takes the box and runs her hand over the sides before landing on a fold. She slips her finger beneath the paper and rips through it revealing a plain box underneath the sparkling white paper. She removes the paper and opens the box to find a pair of white boots with 6 inch heels. “Oh Pearl! You shouldn’t have! These are beautiful!”
Pearl smiles as Grian embraces her in a tight hug. “I’m glad you like them Griba. I was going to give them to you next week but I think they would look perfect with your pink dress.”
Grian pulled away and examined the boots once more. “You’re totally right. Ima put them on and see how it looks.” Grian sits down on the loveseat and starts putting on the new shoes. Once the laces of the boots were firmly tied, Grian stood up and admired himself in the mirror. The boots paired perfectly with the light pink dress and her pink hair bow but something else was missing.
“Pearl do you know where my gloves are? The fingerless white ones?”
Pearl nodded and entered the walk-in closet. Once she appeared again she was holding a pair of soft white gloves. “Here you go!” Grian nodded and took the gloves, placing them in her hands.
“Perfect! I think I’m ready for my date!” Grian smiled and grabbed her purse before opening the door, letting Pearl pass through before herself. “Could you possibly drive me there?”
“If it means I get to meet this mystery heart throb then of course.” Pearl smiled as she locked the door behind them. Grian rolled her eyes but chuckled while she headed towards the car.
“Heart throb? Yeah right… I’m not going to get my hopes up quite yet.” Grian chuckled to herself as she climbed into the passenger seat of the car.
