And I Thought My Touch Was Only Deadly

Work Text:

Aki Hayakawa has never met someone so obstinate before.

"You're doing this on purpose," grumbles Angel, who is all rolled up in a blanket like those conveyer belt sushi he'd watch when he passed by certain restaurants during a mission. Aki, who's squatting below to get a good angle at Angel, looks up and raises two dark eyebrows at him.

"I just wanted to try something out."

Angel huffs in annoyance, too bothered by the notion of using his precious energy to even fight back, much less participate in something as ridiculous as getting bundled up like this.

Then, he feels it.

Warmth.

Aki is hugging him.

Angel is frozen still as he forgets to breathe. He blinks. Once. Twice. And then a few times.

He feels those strong arms wrapping around his body firmly- as if the man who had convinced him to be wrapped up like sushi was now holding him tight like a lifeline.

It's an odd feeling, he thinks.

Angel lowers his head until it bumps lightly onto Aki's shoulder, careful not to let their skin touch.

"It's too stuffy." He mumbles out, but there is not a single hint of resistance in his words.

"You'll get used to it." He hears that deep gentle voice.

I think I would.

Aki feels a damp warmth on his shoulder and hears tiny sniffles- crying that just sounds so quiet, like someone who has tried to hold it together all their life. Never quite breaking that wall - that it's almost heartbreaking.

Aki wonders, how long has he felt like this? That someone could practice such a quiet, yet profound sadness to the point it had to be silenced.

He burrows his nose into the sheets and breathes in deeply, holding just a bit more tighter.

For a moment, the world was theirs to be and time was simply a mirage that had become forgotten. There was comfort in their shared chaos. The way how the sea would crash onto the shore but gravity will always pull it back no matter how tumultuous the weather became.

It was the kind of shared connection that went unspoken- but always welcomed even if their hearts were hardened from constant misery and pain.

Because in that moment, they had each other.

That was all that they needed
