The Choice

Summary:

Esmee, Tish and Enrico face the choice to save Minrathous or Treviso

Work Text:

Quick fire catch up:

Esmee, Tish and Enrico have been travelling together for about a year at this point, having all worked on the same job together and decided it was better to stick together once their quest ended.

They have only just joining the Veilguard team, not yet moved in.

The choice between Minrathous or Treviso was an easy one for Enrico, he had already began running towards the eluvian.

Esmee also stepped forward in the same direction then paused. Why was she going towards Treviso, Minrathous was her home, wasn’t it? Well, the term home was not the best word to describe that place. Not for her. It was a place she had lived in, to which she was barely allowed to do that. Everyday it had been a toss up whether she was to be ignored, insulted or abused for her race. Still, she had stayed because her faction, the Shadow Dragons, a cause she believed in and made her want to bring the light in the darkness.

Her fellow Shadow Dragons were rushing past her into the eluvian connecting to Minrathous. Naturally she should help them. However, words echoed in her mind from Enrico about how Treviso would not be prepared for a dragon attack and that his people were in danger.

Before she could think anymore, Esmee felt herself being pushed behind on her lower back towards the direction of Treviso. Glancing back over her shoulder, Esmee set her sights at her fellow dwarf companion, Tish.

“Go,” the dwarf simply said in her usual monotone voice, giving another push towards the Treviso eluvian. “I will go to Minrathous, you help out Riri.”

Esmee chocked back a sob, instantly turning to scoop up Tish into a hug. “Thank you.”

Tish rolled her eyes, “There’s no time for this…”

“Right!” Esmee snapped back to reality, placing Tish back on the ground. “Good luck, I shall will see you back here later!”

With that, Esmee turned and after Enrico to Treviso. The short but mighty dwarf watched her go for a moment before shaking her head. “Ever such the optimist. Who’s to say if there even is a later,” Tish said cryptically, unsheathing her daggers and stepping towards Minrathous eluvian to face whatever was on the other side.
