Work Text:
His name was Avrey, son of Apollinary, from the House of Svetov.
That sounds grand, he wasn't descended from nobility or anything, but that was his surname. Though, that's debatable now. Ever since he had found himself adopted by his new mother, was he technically royalty now? Probably not, from what he heard from every other Personification, she had shed that identity long ago.
His name was Sirius, and he was the Personification of the Sirius Federal Territory.
Sirius would rather not think of any of that, though. Being a 'baby Personification' (as Moscow put it), he was still unaware of the things he should be doing as one of them. Well... it was basically just paperwork, from what he gauged from his new colleagues. His mother let him do anything he wants to after he's finished with it. And that's the case now, he was done with it.
Being one of the new (and only) federal territory within Russia doesn't really give him much work. The people living within his lands weren't the most humongous amount, so his work wasn't the hardest.
His mother wasn't also his only 'boss', by all means of technicalities, as Krasnodar Kray was also one of them. Both of them were nice to him, especially his mother, but when it comes to how the rest of his colleagues viewed their mother, Sirius could understand why she was held in that regard.
Well, she was nice to him. Maybe because he was a 'baby Personification'.
He was laying down in the grass now.
The night sky was always a beautiful thing to look at. He wasn't in an urban area as of now, so the stars were clear for him to admire.
Was it on purpose, that his mother chose him to represent something named from a star, and he himself loves them?
Probably not. He wasn't completely sure how Personification intuition works, but it probably didn't work that way.
Did his mother know that he wanted to be an astronomer?
She probably does. She was always there to listen to him whenever he talked about the constellations. And from her own responses, she seemed to know a lot about them too.
That makes sense, every subject of hers seem to agree that she was the Soviet Union at one point.
If he was Sirius, does that make her Orion?
Being killed by Artemis (at least, in certain renditions) doesn't sound like a good idea, really. The real life counterpart would probably like that. He understands, though. His mother isn't always a good person.
He was brought out of his train of thought when he heard footsteps coming near him. Which was odd, because he was in the middle of nowhere, but when he saw that pale face, it was obvious who intended to meet him today. "Mama," he called out to Russia, sitting up as he faced her way.
Her face was in that usual expression, a smile which looked off, those empty eyes looking down on him (she was way taller than him, and he was a bit over 180 centimetres already). He knew she wasn't looking down on him metaphorically, though. "Avrey, how's the stargazing going?"
"Nicely," he replied, as he watched her lowering herself right beside him, before she sat down as well. "Why are you here?" he asked with a curious look on his face.
"To see how my son's doing," she remarked, looking at his way with that typical stare. "What have you done today?" she questioned.
She probably already knew what he did, but he answered anyway. "I finished my paperwork," he paused, as he thought back at what today was like. "and now I'm here."
"Tell me about what you saw, then, in the sky."
"Quite ironic, but the first one I identified was Canis Major," he chuckled. "I know you're familiar with stars already, mama, so I won't beat around the bush for this."
"I wouldn't mind you talking about it," she hummed afterwards. Well, she was always appreciative on anything he's done so far.
"I mean I don't think there's more I can talk about," Sirius quipped. "But I find it interesting, when I saw Canis Major."
"What is it that you found interesting, Avrey?" The woman questioned him once more.
"I saw Sirius, and I myself am Sirius," he couldn't help but to laugh. Sirius, named after the dog-companion of Orion, who was also the God of the Stars in a few beliefs. Or the other way around.
"Perhaps it was fate, then, that Sirius would love the stars so much," her smile was kept on her face.
He'll take it as that, then. Maybe why his mother chose him was because of his love for the stars.
His head tilted upwards, looking back to the endless ocean of twinkles high above. He really couldn't help but to lean closer to where his mother was, and to lay his head on her lap.
She didn't seem to complain on that, seeing as to how she kept quiet and instead entangled her fingers in his hair, messing up his nicely combed state.
He had to tilt his head slightly, though. His mother was a bit in the way in the terms of him trying to see the ones he loves so much. Those stars were one of his few loyal companions after all.
As unkind his childhood may be to him, he could always trust the stars to be with him. Though it does give him the thought, if his childhood was unkind, what of the Personifications who were older than him?
They seemed to have been older than the president himself. Surely that would account to many experiences they may not wish to talk about.
If that was so, then he shouldn't ask. He should be grateful where he is now, under the stars.
"Do you want to watch the stars for the whole night, Avrey?"
Yeah, maybe he'd like doing this all night.
