Work Text:

Peter shook his head and kneaded his forehead with his hands. His head felt like it had been run over repeatedly by a train. Scratch that, Peter would rather have a train smash his head than whatever the fuck he was feeling right now.

They had celebrated Peter’s 24 birthday a week late. So last night he, Wade and Matt went out for a drink. Peter never really gets drunk, however weirdly enough Deadpool could still get drunk and shit like a normal person, despite his body having an even stronger healing factor than Peter’s.

Wade had decided to make and mix some unknown ingredients together to ensure that Peter could manage to get drunk and have fun with them, or at least that was how he had said it.

Peter rubbed his head again as more memories of last night flushed through his mind.

The drink looked like something straight out of a witches cauldron, green, strange, somehow gooey yet watery at the same time. And somehow smoking???

Peter had hesitantly taken the drink, wondering if it really was safe for consumption before chugging it down. It tasted STRONGLY. The alcohol fingerfucking his nose as it swirled down his throat leaving behind a dry burning sensation.

After that everything is a blur. The whole night went by in a flash. Peter’s not really sure what happened or what was in that drink that actually managed to fuck him over like this.

Peter finally opened his eyes, the sun blinding him as he looked around him. One thing was sure and that was that he wasn't at home, or inside for that matter.

He was lying face down by a trashcan in a random alleyway he couldn't really recognize.

Peter stood up; a bit shaky from the unfamiliar feeling of being hangover.

He patted down his clothes, to ensure that he didn't look extremely terrible and to ensure that no one had stolen his phone or wallet.

Thankfully everything was still there. He zipped up his jacket and put on his hoodie. Not really eager for people to see him looking as terrible as he does now.

He could only be eternally thankful that nothing had spilled and stained his clothes. Although he didn’t smell all that wonderful.

Peter walked through the increasingly busy streets. People were eyeing him weirdly as he walked. Probably a bit wary of him since he was hiding his face under a hoodie while not really walking all that straight and smelling like he had slept with trash. Which he had technically done…

He assumes so at least, since he woke up basically cuddling with a trash bag.

Peter took out his phone so that he could look at where in the city he was and in which direction his apartment was.

But alas his phone was dead. And with a few new scratches. He bit his cheek in frustration as he walked to the nearest library he could find.

Libraries were often a pretty good pinpoint for locations and often easy to find. Most were located near the city core in the inner cities.

He walked for a bit before he finally managed to find one. Enduring the suspicious glances from the people around him as he walked around.

‘Gotham Library’

Well, that’s new. He hasn’t heard of a street or district in New York called Gotham yet. Where was he? In a batman comic? Huh imagine that. (Yeah… imagine that…)

‘Oh god. Did Wade and Matt manage to drag me out and leave me in another city while I was blacked out?’

Peter sighed. Then rubbed his head again as the hangover continued.

‘Those shitheads.’

It was most likely Wade’s idea Peter thought while rolling his eyes, wondering how the hell Wade even managed to convince Matt to join the prank. Would have thought Matt would have more wit than to leave a blackout drunk friend in the middle of another city while having no battery on their phone.

Peter sighed then continued his walk. Walking into the library.

He spotted some bathrooms by the far back and quickly entered. He looked at himself in the mirror, fixing up his appearance

He brushed out his hair as good as he could with his fingers and splashed some water on his face to freshen up.

He exited the bathroom and made his way over to the center of the library to look for a librarian he could ask some questions.

Fortunately, he found one rather quickly. She was sitting behind a reception looking desk clicking away on a computer.

Peter walked up to her, awkwardly shuffling over to her desk. Once he got to her desk she looked him up and down, thinking of something before nodding at him.

Peter awkwardly nodded back and spoke.

“Hey, do you, or the library really, have a phone that I could borrow for a few seconds? Mine is dead and I just need to call some of my friends.”

She looked him up and down again before hesitantly nodding.

“Yeah, we have one right here, its old but it does what it needs to.” She pointed towards a small red stationary phone.

“Yeah, sure absolutely. Thank you.”

It was a model Peter hadn't seen before either but who cares. He shrugged it off and started typing in Matt’s number.

It rang for some seconds before someone finally answered. Before Peter had the chance to explain the situation, the person on the other end of the line began talking.

“Who are you, how did you get this number and how did you manage to call this phone?.”

The voice was deep and nowhere near the same as Matt’s voice. Funnily enough it kind of sounded like a bad batman impression. Oh god it had been long since he had read the comics.

“I’m trying to call my friend. This is their number. And what’s up with the voice.” Peter immediately retorted.

The man on the other side of the line seemed surprised then hung up offering no explanation.

Peter scoffed, slightly offended. Then put in Wade’s number.

This time, as he waited for Wade to answer the red headed librarian seemed to be getting a call as well.

Peter looked over to her curiously as she answered her phone.

At the same time Wade answered.

Or...

The voice Peter heard wasn't Wade at all. It was the librarian. Peter hung up the phone and walked over to the librarian again.

“Sorry, uh...”

This was all extremely confusing.

Why was Matt’s number now leading to a weird deep voiced man. And Wade’s number leading to the librarian.

She looked at him confused, giving him a strange look.

“Do you guys have any computers here?” Peter asked, now beginning to panic.

“Yeah, they're right over to shelves to the left.” She pointed.

Peter looked down at her desk for a name plate before nodding to her.

“Thanks... Barbara, thanks.” He hurried over to the computers.

Where had he heard that name before?

“I just need to check something...” He mumbled as he walked over.

He sat down at the computers, quickly turning it on and entering the internet.

He hurriedly began typing in keywords about himself, Wade and Matt. Or rather their vigilante side. When absolutely nothing came up about either of them, he began typing in keywords about other heroes and even villains.

Nothing came up either.

Where was he?

What the fuck was going on?

And what the absolute fuck was in the drink Wade had made for him?
