What if Kim Soleum never left the Bureau and a certain someone finds his address

Work Text:

There was a bouquet at his doorstep.

Kim Soleum peered down the corridor. There was no one in sight. No culprit to be found.

He looks back down at the bouquet, confused. Who would send him flowers? And… Kim Soleum looks closer. A bouquet of pink carnations at that.

Kim Soleum picks it up, turning it over in his hand to find anything that would tell him any clues about who had sent it or if it had been sent to the wrong person. There was no tag or card to be found.

How odd…

The will o' the wisp twirled in the air around him, curious about what he picked up. He shows it to them.

"Do you feel anything wrong with this?" He asked. It was always better to be safe than sorry, especially when this bouquet had appeared out of nowhere. Who knew if it was actually something out of a ghost story or not?

The will o' the wisp stopped in the air and moved closer to the bouquet before forming itself into a thumbs-up sign.

… He will take that as a sign that it was safe.

Still, where did it come from?

[Oh? How interesting!]

He turned back into his room and closed the door behind him, plopping down on his bed before asking Braun what he meant.

[Hm… But it's no fun if I just tell all the answers. I'll let my Good Friend eventually figure it out himself!]

And it seemed that Braun was no help here either. He sighed.

Guess he'll have to do some investigating himself.

Kim Soleum goes down to the front desk and walks up to the clerk manning it with the bouquet in hand.

"Um, excuse me, do you know who sent this?" He asked, holding up the bouquet for her to see.

The clerk looked up from her phone briefly before going back to it. "No idea."

"But it was left outside my door, surely you should've seen them coming in?"

Though he said that, looking at her, he highly doubted that she did.

"Nope." She replied, popping the P before she started typing furiously on her phone and ignoring him.

As he suspected, she didn't. Sighing, he let her be and returned to his room, still confused about the bouquet.

There was a bouquet at his doorstep again. This time, it was a bouquet of forget-me-nots.

Kim Soleum peered down the corridor again. There was no one in sight again. No culprit to be found… again.

He was starting to get worried. And though the will o' the wisp had confirmed it wasn't something dangerous yesterday, he picked it up and held it to them again.

"Is there anything wrong with this?"

The will o' the wisp circled the bouquet this time, and instead of forming itself into a thumbs-up, it formed itself into… a heart?

Was there someone trying to confess to him?

Was this what Braun had found interesting?

[It seems my friend has finally figured it out! But to confess to my friend in such a tacky way, how deplorable! My Good Friend only deserves the best! Where's the fireworks? Where's the 5 star dinner?!]

… So it seems it was.

But who would? And in this way too…

Wasn't it a little too creepy?

Kim Soleum grimaced and went back into his room. Ripping out a piece of paper from a notebook, he quickly scribbled a few words on it and left it outside his room under the bouquet.

Dear whoever has been sending me flowers,

Who are you?

There was another bouquet at his doorstep. This time, it was a bouquet of roses.

Kim Soleum could feel chills going down his spine.

Was this a stalker he was dealing with?

Would he need to move to another motel?

He picks up the bouquet and in doing so, notices that there is a card attached to it.

Opening it, he finds a reply to his message.

Why aren't you answering my messages, Agent?
