Seong Mi-na mini KiSS doll

Summary:

A mini-KiSS doll (digital paper doll) I made for Seong Mi-na for Doodle 4 Doodle 2025.

Notes:

Here's a late gift! I've been working for the past month and a half on this and needless to say it's way more than just a doodle! I wish I had had time to include more outfits, but I hope you enjoy this. Instructions on how to download and play the game are in the body of the work.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Someone requested Seong Mi-na, and I've been wanting to make a KiSS doll for her since I was in high school, so I had the great idea to put together a mini KiSS doll for her using Doodle 4 Doodle as a convenient deadline. In case you don't know what a KiSS doll is, it is very old technology (late 90s/early 00s) that allows you to play paper dolls on your computer, basically. (KiSS stands for Kisekae Set System, using the Japanese word for "changing clothes.") KiSS dolls have their own format and are made by creating pixel art with limited color palettes and plain-text "configuration files" that allow you to specify the layering of the items and various animation effects.

The above image is just a preview of the dress-up doll. If you would like to download it to play around with the items and put them on Seong Mi-na, follow the below instructions:

1. Download KiSS doll viewing software. Depending on what kind of computer you have, this may be more or less difficult. Probably the most cross-platform option is UltraKiss, which is made in Java and is therefore portable to most operating systems. It can be downloaded using the automated installers linked on this page: https://github.com/kisekae/UltraKiss/releases

The other options are to try the tools available for download at Dov Sherman's Otakuworld KiSS page. (I personally use Direct KiSS 1.1.1, which, despite being ancient software, does still work on Windows 10/11. But you might need to look into the other options!)

2. Download the KiSS doll (in .LZH format) here (31kb -- very small file!): https://archive.org/download/sc-mina/sc-mina.lzh

3. Install and run the KiSS doll viewing software.

4. Open the .lzh file you downloaded. The doll should open and look like the above preview image. You should be able to play around with the doll by clicking and dragging items around the screen. (Zooming in/out might make the pixel art look nicer.)

Note that this doll also includes 3 bang styles and 4 hair styles -- you can cycle through them by clicking on Mi-na's hair. Enjoy ♥

Outfits included:
- SC2 1P
- SC6 1P
- SC3 2P
- SC2 3P (which also appears in cutscenes in SCVI)
