Chapter Text
Here this girl stood, lillies in her hair, chin up, brown hair curling into tangles, her eyes two shockingly different shades of blue, one the color of Satines, the other the color of mandalorian blue steel. She stood there like a slap to the face.
"Oh, mother, I didnt know you had guest, I would have dressed more formally." The 14 year old said, speaking like her mother, a regal voice paired with a minor slouch, as though she did not really care.
"No need to worry my dear, this is General Obi-wan Kenobi, General, this is my daughter Ora Kryze." She said tilting her head towards her daughter. The young teenager wore a simple purple tunic with a blue jacket and brown pants, she wore a mandalorian style of shoes, they were made with silk and had a box in the toe, making it so that a person could stand on the very tips of their toes without hurting them.
"The General Kenobi?" The girl said, excitement spreading to her face and her posture changing to one of pure excited attention. She bowed politely to the man.
"Its an honor to meet you sir. I've heard many stories of your escapades, and while I frown upon most of the violence, I do appreciate what you have done to protect the innocentes of the galaxy."
Obi-wan had no clue what to say. I mean what do you say to the daughter of the woman who holds your heart without even knowing it. When he did not speak she quickly added "I used to ask my mother to tell me stories from your year on the run. I must thank you for that as well."
"It was nothing, I was just doing my job."
"Obi-wan, how about you and I go on a walk to finish our discussion about the death watch... I would love to show you how much Mandalore has changed since you where here last, maybe a tour of the gardens will lighten our conversation." Satine said.
"Might I come Mother? Just to observe, you won't even know im there, I could use the experience for when im duchess." The girl almost begged her mother. Satine's eyes softened as she debated it with herself.
"Fine, you may come along, but you aren't allowed to speak unless spoken to, and you need to stay with the gaurds at all times, if its alright with you of course General?" Satine turned to him. "Yes of course she can come. But I do worry about the instances with the Death Watch" he said before trailing off into a discussion about the death watch. He offered a hand to Satine and she took it, leaving her throne and looping her arm in his for a moment before their hands fell to their sides. Ora fell in step behind them, listening intently to the conversation and buzzing with an excited energy that pierced the force.
As they approached the gardens, the topic changed to rebuilding Mandalore, how long it had taken Satine to make Mandalore she felt proud of, and felt was safe for her daughter, even if the girl was accident prone and couldn't seem to go a day without getting injured in some way. Suddenly, there was a deafening boom and Obi-wan shielded Satine from the blast, while Satine, in turn shielded Ora.
The second they explosion had died down, Satine and Ora were running towards the wreckage, Satine slid down next to man who had been next to the explosion, while Ora had been digging people out of some of the rubble. Obi-wan rushed to Satine's side.
"This was not the Death watch, they do not have the kind of man power." Before Obi-wan looked up and saw it. The dancing hologram of the Death Watch Sigil. "I wouldn't speak so soon... Satine, im sorry, but I need to shut down the area." he turned to a near by gaurd, "I need the area shut down, no one enters and no one leaves. I need to ask these people some questions-" just as he finished his sentence a panicked man started to run away. "Hey!" Obi-wan yelled as he started running after the man, only to find Ora just barely ahead of him following the man as well.
They chased him all the way to one of the over looks, where he stood on the railing and tried to shoot at Obi-wan and Ora, Obi-wan ignited his saber and redorected the shot at his blaster, but the shot at Ora hit her in the left arm. She screamed in pain. The man started speaking in a language Obi-wan didnt know. Ora spoke back in Mandalorian, "Nayc! Stay vaii gar cuyir, gar Kelir shi gotal'ur bic dush'shya!" Before the man smiled sadly, stuck his arms out to the side and fell backwards.
Before Obi-wan could even think, Ora was running to the railing and jumping over the edge. "No!" He yelled, using the force to catch her as she desperately reach for the man, even though he had already hit the pavement.
"Nayc! Nayc! Nayc! Let me go! Let ni slanar! Ni liser su Gaa'tayl him! I can still save him!" She shouted and pulled at the invisible grip around her. He used the force to pulled her back onto the balcony as he approached her and wrapped his arms around her, covering her eyes so she didnt have to look at the man. Satine came shortly after and saw her daughter sobbing in Obi-wan's chest. She looked over the railing and gasped.
"What happened."
"I didnt hurt him-" Obi-wan said before she cut him off, "I know, that's why im still talking to you." She snipped back at him, before walking down to the man's body. Obi-wan escorted Ora with him and Satine to the mans body. He was still alive, muttering something in that language Obi-wan didnt know. He smiled up at Satine as she sadly spoke back to him. The man reached a hand up to the domed sky before the hand fell to the shattered glass beneath him. Satine stood and wrapped her arms around her daughter.
"What was he saying?"
"He was speaking in the language of our moon, Concordia, it was his death rites..."
Ora sniffed and inhaled sharply in pain as her mother squeezed her tightly, right on where the shot had made contact with her arm. Satine instantly broke the hug and checked on her daughter.
"I didnt mean to let him shoot her, I tried to block it-" Obi-wan started in a panicked before Ora quickly said, "I'm sorry Mother... I should have done more to stop him. Its not General Kenobi's fault"
"Ora, it is not your fault for what happened to him... you need a bacta patch, that it going to scar, but im sure it hurts." Satine said after the gaurds had removed the body. Two gaurds led Satine and Ora back to the palace, while Obi-wan dealt with the crime scene.
Suddenly he felt a shift in the force, a high pitched ringing in his ear, and he felt the force rush around him like a breeze, giving him more power than he had felt in years, before it suddenly left, following behind Ora Kryze like it belonged to her.
