Work Text:
It was the last day of school, so the teachers allowed the students to go anywhere they wished for lunch break (as long as they came back to the school campus on time). Seizing the opportunity, Keonho and Seonghyeon bought some food from the convenience store, choosing to eat in the parking lot.
“Hey,” Keonho grinned, “You alright?”
It's been about 2 months since Seonghyeon and Keonho confessed to each other. And every single day since then feels like something straight out of one of Seonghyeon's day dreams.
Although they weren't dating, they weren't oblivious to the love they had for each other either.
“Yeah,” Seonghyeon whispered. He glanced around for a moment, gathering up his words. It was noon. The harsh sunlight coated Keonho with an ethereal glow, his tan skin glistened in the sunlight, as if Apollo materialised in human form. His eyes were as dark as chocolate, profound as the midnight sky, while tiny droplets of water were like the stars. His dark eyes strayed to Seonghyeon. It was as if Keonho held the entire world in his eyes.
Keonho cocked his head, concern becoming prominent in his eyes, “Seonghyeon?”
Seonghyeon jumped. He gave a shy smile, a blush creeping up behind his neck, coating his ears and cheeks with a pink glow. “Yeah?” he spluttered.
“Are you actually alright?” came Keonho's response.
Seonghyeon looked away. Keonho could tell he was mustering up some courage, so Keonho let him be. When Seonghyeon looked back, all he could see was understanding in Keonho's eyes. The same eyes that reassured him when he was sorrowful. Seonghyeon gave a gentle smile, “I wanted to ask you something.”
Keonho beamed. Seonghyeon rarely asked anything, always choosing to “go with the flow”. Keonho’s eyes crinkled with something that suspiciously looked like joy. “What is it?” he pestered.
Seonghyeon chuckled, “Would you like to go to the park later-”
“Yes yes yes a million times yes.”
Seonghyeon laughed, “Hold on bro this isn't a proposal, why are you so excited?”
Keonho lowered his gaze, a pout blooming on his face. Seonghyeon always thought Keonho looked extra beautiful when he was sulky. His cheeks would puff up, and his lips would resemble a heart. His irises would dilate, almost like a dog’s. Seonghyeon grinned to himself, if Keonho had canine ears, he would look astonishingly like a puppy.
Keonho grimaced, “I was just really excited with you suggesting we hang out, cause like you never do that and I was just really happy and stuff…” he trailed off.
Seonghyeon panicked. He hurriedly cupped Keonho's cheeks, bending his neck up towards himself. Seonghyeon's thumb ran gentle circles on his cheeks, soothing the muscles below.
“I didn’t mean it like that, sorry.” Seongyeon apologised. His voice took on a sweet melody, as if to calm the man in his arms. Keonho drooped his head down, resting it on Seonghyeon's shoulder. Seonghyeon draped his hands on Keonho's back, while Keonho's enveloped his waist. “I know.’ Keonho mumbled, muffled by Seonghyeon's shoulder. “But, still.” Keonho groaned.
Keonho stayed resting there, slowly soaking up Seonhyeon's scent. They swayed to the rhythm of the birds, and the leaves. Nature gave them a steady cadence, one where neither step seemed to falter, or overtake one another. Keonho slowly lifted his head off of his shoulder, choosing to rest his forehead on Seonghyeon's instead. Keonho’s arms which were previously encircling Seonghyeon’s waist, now were gripping onto his hip bones.
Keonho's feet stepped side to side, his grip on Seonghyeon guiding the boy in front of him. Seonghyeon slowly harmonised his movements with Keonho’s, his fingers holding on to Keonho's shirt. His humming created a safe bubble for the both of them, as if nothing could ever disturb this peace. Seonghyeon and Keonho stared at each other, intent.
Keonho stared at Seonghyeon's face. He full heartedly believed his visual could rival any greek gods, maybe even Aphrodite’s. The contour of his nose sculpted his face just like a statue. His dimples alluring Keonho even further.
This is too much cuteness.
Their intimate moment was shattered by Martin , “AYO LOVEBIRDS, CLASS’ ALMOST STARTING. GET YO BEHINDS OVER HERE!!” he shrieked.
Seonghyeon and Keonho hastily let go of each other. A red hue overtook their entire face, embarrassment conspicuous in each of them. They slowly walked towards Martin , gaze fixated on the floor. “Are y'all finally dating?” Martin asked when they finally arrived.
“No-”
“I wish.’
Seonghyeon blushed even more at that. He playfully slapped Keonho which Keonho swiftly dodged. They both had a smile plastered on their face. Martin gagged.
He stuck a finger in his mouth, “Get a room, like damn.” He grimaced as he hooked his arms around each of them, cradling them in his arms. Keonho gave a soft smile at that, while Seonghyeon sighed. Martin furrowed his eyebrows,”Was that a sigh?”
Seonghyeon rolled his eyes, “No, Martin .”
“Oh yeah?” Martin haltered, “What was it then?”
“Your mom.”
“Go die in a ditch.” Martin replied. Keonho stopped walking and slowly turned towards Martin . “Hey,” Keonho began, putting his palm up, “We don't wish for people's demise around here.”
“You're saying that cause I directed my attack towards Seonghyeon, aren't you?” Martin deadpanned.
“Obviously-”
“Well then,” Martin hissed, a playful glint unraveling itself in his eyes, “Why don't both of you go die in a ditch, together.”
“Well, we'll be together no?” Seonghyeon looked at Keonho. “ We could do that.” Seonghyeon swiftly replied.
“Yeah, as long as we're together.” Keonho nodded.
“OH COME ON!!”

The ring of the bell echoed throughout the classrooms, signaling the end of class. Ms.Lan arranged a “last day of class” party. But, they weren't sure when the party was going to happen. So, Seonghyeon and Keonho decided to visit the park they wanted to.
The afternoon sky acquired a soft blue colour, and yet the far end of the horizon slowly changed into a peachy glow. As time went by, more and more of the sky paralleled itself to the orange hue. The chirping of the sparrows formed a soothing melody, providing a sense of comfort.
Seonghyeon and Keonho sat on the bench, near the slides. Keonho had his ear planted on Seonghyeon’s shoulder, while Seonghyeon’s arm was gently swung over Keonho. His fingers tenderly played with Keonho’s hair while he hummed, surrounded by Seonghyeon’s warmth and the children’s laughter. The children laughed sweetly, making Seonghyeon remember his own little sister. He pondered on what she was doing right now, was she singing? Or doing her homework? It's five right now, she’s probably at her coaching center.
“Seonghyeon, “ Keonho called lovingly, “Do you still have that gummy we bought at that convenience store?”
“I think so, yeah.”
Keonho slowly sat up and looked at Seonghyeon. He mustered up his best puppy eyes, “Can I eat it?” He pleaded.
Seonghyeon gave a soft chuckle, blending smoothly with the atmosphere around them. He slowly picked up his bag, and rested it in Keonho's lap. He rummaged through the items, looking for that packet of gummies.
“Here,” he handed them to Keonho, “Here you go.”
Keonho smiled at him– soft, sweet and genuine. He slowly grabbed the packet from Seonghyeon's open hands and ripped them open. Keonho picked one up and heated it up between his fingers for a moment. Before slightly nudging it towards Seonghyeon’s lips.
“It's for you,” Seonghyeon giggled.
“I know, but we're practically the same person now.”
“We're not even dating.”
Keonho rolled his eyes, “And? It's bad manners to refuse something.”
Seonghyeon might have given a little huff, and yet he still reluctantly bit into the gummy. It was a bit chewy with a slight apple-y taste. And the minor taste of salt from Keonho’s fingers created a contrast which Seonghyeon enjoyed. Seonghyeon kept chewing the gummy as he rested his head on Keonho’s shoulder. In the meanwhile, Keonho’s left arm came behind Seonghyeon and enclosed him. Seonghyeon leaned onto the touch, feeling even more at ease.
Keonho smirked. “You know, you didn't want these.”
“And?”
“And yet, you’re enjoyingly eating it.”
Seonghyeon rolled his eyes, “Oh let me live.”
Keonho snorted. He rested his ear on Seonghyeon’s hair, while Seonghyeon slowly took plenty more of the gummies. “These are good.” Seonghyeon drawled.
Keonho smiled, “Guess we’ll have to buy these more often.”
Seonghyeon suddenly elevated his hand, and slowly poked a gummy into Keonho’s mouth.
“Seonghyeon, what are you doing?” Keonho asked. Although a bit muffled, since his mouth was already half filled with the gummy.
“Try one, please.” Seonghyeon pleaded.
And how could he say no?
When Keonho unwillingly took the whole thing into his mouth, he knew he made a big mistake. The gummy was too chewy, and had a slight salty and sour flavour. Which Keonho hated. Keonho grimaced, his face contorting into a disgusted facial expression. His eyebrows furrowed and his nose scrunched up. “You-” He gagged, “You like this?”
Seonghyeon adorably smiled. He placed his hand below Keonho’s lips. “If you can’t swallow it, “ he uttered caringly, “Just spit it out onto my hand.”
Keonho in fact did not spit it out on Seonghyeon’s hand. He powered through it, choosing to endure his suffering. As he finally finished the gummy, he responded with, “No way in hell am I doing that.”
Seonghyeon shrugged. “Alright, do whatever you want.”
Keonho leaned in closer. He perceived Seonghyeon, “You aren’t mad are you?” he worried.
“No,” Seonghyeon sighed, “No I am not.”
“Then why did you sigh?
“Its cause,” he whispered, "something's been plaguing me..” Keonho immediately jerked at that. He turned Seonghyeon towards himself. He propped both of his legs onto the bench, crossed. Seonghyeon’s legs were a bit different. One leg was on the bench, while another one was dangling.
Seonghyeon took a deep breath. “You know how I said we weren't dating?
How about we change that?”
Keonho convulsed. “What- what do you mean?” he stuttered.
Seonghyeon gave him a soft smile, “Keonho, “ he called, “Would you like to be my boyfriend?”
