“Hm.. so, would you recommend marshmallows or whipped cream as the toppings for the cocoa?”
Bamby asked curiously as he looked down at his little helper, Miimu, who was wearing a tiny little apron around his chubby belly and a chef’s hat with a pink heart in the middle.
Miimu nibbled on a marshmallow as he stared up at the man in pink, a small smirk on his face mainly because Bamby was covered head to toe in flour, cocoa powder on his cheeks, and hair barely staying in the ponytail he had tied up.
Miimu then let out little chirps as he jumped onto Bamby’s shoulder, pointing at the flower sitting behind his ear, a blue orchid he had picked from their shared garden.
Bamby raised an eyebrow, looking over at Miimu. “Flowers? Silly, flowers can’t go in hot cocoa. That’s clearly a health hazard, plus how would Yejun feel sipping a nice warm mug of hot cocoa, and finding an orchid?”
Miimu let out a grumpy “Hmhp!”, crossed his arms and sat down on Bamby’s shoulder, deciding to instead suck on his chocolate covered paw.
Bamby sighed, walking over to the sink and grimacing at the sight of all the dirty dishes: pots, measuring spoons, spatulas.. it was a mess.
“Gosh.. what am I doing wrong, Miimu?” Bamby asked he finally accepted defeat and sat down on the kitchen counter chair, his heavy shoulders finally giving out on him. Miimu chirped at this, clearly confused.
“I mean, Yejun is my fiance. We have been dating for 6 years and now I’m about to be his husband. And I can’t even make him hot cocoa on Christmas Eve? Pathetic excuse of a soon to be husband if you ask me..”
Miimu didn’t say anything. He frowned, leaving small pats on Bamby’s head that left clear stains of brown from the cocoa powder they had used earlier, but honestly? Bamby didn’t seem to care.
“I know you’re trying to make me feel better Miimu, but I just can’t help but.. I don’t know. What if Yejun expects more from me?”
Bamby then stood up, startling Miimu as he fell from the high shoulder, landing on the kitchen counter with a small “Oof!”
“..Maybe I should tell Yejun to not come over today. The house is a mess, it reeks of chocolate, hell I’m covered all over in disgusting stains, what’s next?”
Miimu had seen this all before, had seen Bamby get way too impatient and let his emotions get the best of him, it wasn’t nothing new. But for it to involve Yejun, someone Miimu knew was so important to Bamby’s life, Miimu chirped sadly and stood up fast jumping up trying to get the man’s attention, to distract him from his head.
But Bamby just sighed, looking over at his little friend and smiling sadly.
“It’s okay. Tomorrow is Christmas after all. I’m sure I can instead make Yejun feel somewhat loved with a gift.”
And with that, Bamby shut himself in his head and left Miimu chirping on the kitchen counter.
But Miimu was a tough cookie. A tiny one but hard as a rock, refusing to see his best friend reach such a state simply because he couldn’t make some hot cocoa, so what!
Miimu thought hard as he watched Bamby beginning to wash the dishes, thinking what would be a good way to cheer him up and also achieve his goal. He thought and thought.. until, boom.
Miimu suddenly got it! He ran over to the other side of the kitchen counter and put all his energy into his antenna like ears, trying to get a connection. It took some time, maybe like 5 seconds, but eventually..
“POP!”
In front of him, Meymu popped up like a bubble, landing on in front of his friend with a friendly yet politeful smile on his tiny face.
“Mii!”
“Mey! Meu?”
Meymu looked around and took the whole environment in.. was this really Bamby’s apartment? Had it always smelled this chocolatey?
“Meymu?”
Meymu jumped up at suddenly his name being called, quickly running to hide behind Miimu only to realize it was Bamby.
“Miimu, why did you call him? What’s going on?”
“Mii! Mu mei mii mi!”
Bamby.. just stared. He started at his friend confused, not really understanding at all what he had said, well not like he ever does.
But then he saw a smile appear on Meymu’s face, showing the two clearly had something in mind, a plan.
“Oh no.. don’t tell me you want to try and save the cocoa? Miimu, baby, it’s hopeless—“
“MIIMU!”
Bamby jumped at that. Miimu pointed its tiny fluffy arm at Bamby, standing in such a position with his other hand on his hip.
Meymu’s blue tail wagged cutely at the words of his friend, agreeing completely at whatever he had said. The two then high fived each other with their tails and then separated, jumping off the counter, one left and one right.
“What? Wait, you two! What are we doing exactly?”
“Mey!!” Meymu exclaimed as he teleported on top of the sink, standing on the faucet and looking down. He saw dirty dishes, but he also saw a quick glance at his reflection! He giggled, then waved his tiny paw up, small bubbles beginning to form around him.
Suddenly, the dishes rose up in bubbles, and the second they popped, the dishes were clean!
Bamby gasped, stepping back as he used the counter for support. Wait, they were cleaning? No, Meymu was. Bamby looked over and saw Miimu once again turning on Bamby’s tablet that was displayed on the table, clicking on a hot cocoa recipe.
Bamby bit his lip, walking over to Miimu, who was holding a spoon. Or well.. trying to.
“Miimu.. are you sure?”
“Mii mii!” Miimu squeaked, then passed the spoon over to Bamby and used his powers to click the stove back on.
Bamby stared down at the pot with his first failed attempt of cocoa, but then looked around. At Meymu cleaning his apartment with his bubble friend, then down at Miimu who was waving his paws around like a cheerleader.
Bamby took a deep breath in, closed his eyes, and then deep breath out.
“Okay! Let’s do this!”
“Miimu!”
“Meymu!!”

A blue haired man walked quickly as he shielded his hands from the falling snow, his snow a cherry red, mouth covered under a snarf.
Yejun had just finished his work at the office, and while the others tried to keep their manager to stay late for a drink, especially on Christmas Eve, Yejun had to nicely decline, explaining how he had business with his finance.
He escaped all the “Awee!” and the “Who’s this lucky person” by being the first to leave, especially with the snow picking up and the temperature dropping.
Yejun looked up and smiled as he finally saw Bamby’s apartment come into view. It had become his second home without him knowing years ago, but he hoped soon he and Bamby could find their forever home in a place they both agreed was the one for them.
As he walked up the stairs, he fiddled into his pocket, fishing for the extra keys Bamby had given him with a blueberry keychain, picked specially for Yejun.
As he finally turned the locket and stepped in, Yejun immediately halted, and took a big sniff of the area.
It smelled good, like a chocolate factory, not to mention it was warm and comforting. He took off his coat and scarf, hanging them on the right side of Bamby’s own pink coat and scarf. As he took off his shoes and slid into his slippers, Yejun finally realized why it felt so cozy.
In the living room waiting for him, was Bamby in a pink Christmas sweater, Santa hat on his head and holding 2 little marshmallow like creatures in his hands, snuggling them close.
Yejun smiled, his heart hurting from the beautiful scene in front of his eyes. He was about to speak up, but someone beat him to it. “Mii!”
Bamby turned around and smiled brightly, jumping off the couch and leaving the little babies in a small pillow for themselves. “Yejun!”
Yejun smiled as Bamby fit right into his arms in a warm hug, a hug that felt so right and safe, it made him forget everything.
“Bamby, oh how I missed you my peach..” Yejun mumbled as he took Bamby’s face into his hands, rubbing his cheeks ever so gently.
“I missed you too. Merry Christmas Eve, Mr. Nam Yejun.”
Yejun chuckled at that, but was caught off guard as Bamby then pushed their lips together, tangling them in a sweet, soft kiss under the mistletoe that Yejun hadn’t noticed before.
He sighed into the kiss, pulling Bamby closer to his arms, letting all the stress and troubles melt away. Nothing mattered now, just his fiancé in his arms.
Bamby smiled as he broke the kiss, then guided Yejun over to the couch. “We have a surprise for you..”
“Haha, we?” Yejun chuckled then smiled as two little creatures jumped on him, chirping and squeaking at the sight of him, especially Meymu who let out tiny bubbles with each squeak.
Yejun was so distracted by the love he was receiving, that he didn’t notice Bamby leaving, then returning back from the kitchen with two mugs in his hands.
Yejun looked down at the mugs as they were placed in front of him, and his inside felt like butterflies.
In front of him, Bamby had placed two hot, homemade mugs filled with chocolate but the mugs were specifical. One had little blueberries and blue orchids all over, along with small drawings that were clearly Yejun, and the other had peaches and pink cherry blossoms, along with adorable little Bamby’s.
“Did you..”
“I wanted to surprise you, a small gift before Christmas. I made the mugs at the pottery class I attended with Hamin and the hot cocoa was made with the help of Miimu and Meymu.. Wha do you think?”
Bamby didn’t get to ask more as suddenly Yejun rose up and lifted Bamby into the air, twirling him around with a smile beaming on his face.
Bamby yelped but his disbelief quickly turned into a laugh that was a melody to Yejun’s ears.
“Oh, I love it! Baby, this is absolutely beautiful. And you both..”
Yejun looked down at two marshmallow helpers who were beaming in their little pillow, all smiles as they held paws.
“Thank you for the help. Truly, this is the best gift I could have ever asked for.”
“Haha! Don’t say that yet silly! Save it for the wedding!”
Yejun laughed at that, giving Bamby pecks on his cheeks and lips, causing him to giggle as they took their seats on the couch, mugs in hand, feet intertwined. They watched as Meymu and Miimu yapped and eventually fell asleep under the fireplace, bellies full of hot cocoa and sweet.
Bamby hummed as he snuggled closer to Yejun, giving him a light kiss on his neck. “Merry Christmas, Yejun.”
Yejun smiled warmly down at his fiancé, taking his hand up to his lip, and leaving a peck on his, staring at him with dreamy blue eyes.
“Merry Christmas, my Chae Bonggu.”
