Chapter Text
A dark, rather calming night prevailed in the shapes land. Most were either sleeping or admiring the beauty of the stars. groups of people were huddled together in the forest, watching the sky in silence, though it seemed like the nights beauty couldn't exactly mesmerize everyone.
Blixer was sitting at the roof of his building, Lycan was there too but he was in his own world. Everyones gaze was at the sky but Bilxer's was at the heroes, he gave them the coldest stare and frowned at them. (not like they could see it but he didn't care) They were all sitting on a picnic mat, all of them had their blankets and a huge pile of snacks were in the middle of them, they were barely touching the snacks due to their gaze being stuck on the sky but it was still nice to have something to munch on just in case.
Blixer rested his head on his hand and began swaying his legs, he couldn't exactly understand what he was feeling but all he knew was that he was getting tired of it. The feeling of being worse, being belittled by the shapes he once aimed to manipulate to be on his side, the feeling of being left out and picked on for being different and then failing to get his happy ending both for him AND Lycan... He knew that Lycan didn't blame him or anything, he already made it obvious that he wasn't relying on Blixer for any sort of revenge but still...he couldn't help but feel guilty.
This exact feeling was haunting him without a single break ever since him and his kind were banished from civilization. He wanted to do something to get rid of it, he needed this feeling to go away before he went insane.
"Lycan." Blixer spoke in a rather quiet tone, not like his usual way of talking at all. "How are you so chill about everything, do you not... Nevermind, forget about it." He paused himself, his tone getting more aggresive towards the end. He was showing weakness, he hated showing weakness. Not only that but venting to Lycan? That was just way too lame for his mindset; for him, showing any sort of weakness or sadness was just gay.
The two were engulfed in silence again, Blixer buried his face deeper into his hand and gritted his teeth, why did he even speak?? "I dunno man. I mean, I could react if i wanted to." Lycan finally replied, still staring deep into the sky. "I could drown in envy, throw things (or myself) out of this very roof, live the rest of my life mad as fuck but what would any of that change? Yup, nothing." Blixer didn't reply, he didn't know what to say anyways.
Lycan rolled on his side and faced Blixer. "I know your head is still stuck at your loss, I know you blame yourself for everything but let me tell you something; If you aren't gonna take any proper action about it, then damaging your sanity over it is just not worth it." He said, neither Blixer nor him knew where he got this sudden therapist ass mindset from.
"For example, look at me. I'm not capable of taking them down so I'm gonna save myself from the embarrassment and not even try it. There's no point of trying anymore, I just accepted my fate." Lycan returned to staring at the sky without waiting for an answer from Blixer, which was probably a good idea since Blixer still didn't know whay to reply with. He felt bad about Lycan, about himself, about everyone that got pushed away. They were all exposed to such racism but Blixer felt more embarrassed than any of them, probably because he actually tried to fight back for himself and his friends but disappointed them all with failure.
His eyes locked on the heroes again, he looked at all of them one by one (as much as he could from this far away) until his gaze lurked on Cube. He corrupted her once, she wasn't too bad once her true power got revealed, 'it's such a shame all that potential went to an awkward crybaby' he thought to himself. He stared at Cube some more, the more he stared the more his brain locked onto Cube. Looking at her just reminded him of his failure yet again, the guilt he always had was now stronger than ever. He finally stood up and left without saying a word, Lycan had no reaction and continued to silently enjoy the view.
Blixer had an idea, quite a stupid one but he was too blinded by his rage to care about that. He walked all the way over to the shapes territory, that was pretty impressive..and concerning...but who cares. He snuck into one of the neighborhoods and began walking towards the forest, he put his cape on and put his hands in his pockets, he would be able to hide this way just fine as long as no one questioned his abnormal height. The neighborhood seemed warm and welcoming, definitely not for his kind though. He almost looked upset but quickly brushed his thoughts away and went back to his plan.
He was finally at the forest, there was no going back now. He hid behind a tree and began spying on the heroes, even if he hated admitting it, getting closer to them was stressing him out. The only one that seemed to be somewhat alert was Cyan. Unlike the rest, he was glancing around if he heard a noise. Blixer had to be sneaky, super sneaky.
Just as Blixer was thinking of a plan, Cube stopped staring at the sky and turned to heli. She poked him and said something that was inaudible from Blixer's hiding spot but she was getting away from everyone, and that's exactly what Blixer needed. He watched as Cube waved at everyone with her usual warm smile and began walking away, little did she know their old enemy was about to kidnap her in a few seconds. Blixer used one of the paths he came from and waited between two houses, he took a deep breath and prepared himself for the abduction.
The footsteps got closer, she was near. Just as she was about to walk past, Blixer grabbed her wrist and pulled her into the backstreet. He quickly covered her mouth before she could scream and backed away deeper into the darkness. His touch was slowly infecting Cube with corruption, Blixer had to admit that he kinda missed seeing Cube corrupted.
Some people walked by, Cube tried to get help but Blixer wrapped his spare arm around her waist and pulled her back to himself. He placed his head on Cube's shoulder and smirked at the panicking girl. "Welcome back, Cube. It's been a hot minute since we've seen each other, right?" He whispered at her mockingly. He moved his hand up to Cube's nose and blocked both ways of breathing, this would be enough to make her passed out for a while. And just as he planned, Cube's struggles became weaker and her head eventually dropped. Blixer waited a bit more to make sure that she's knocked out, then began carrying her back to his place.
No offence but Cube was pretty heavy, walking all the way back while carrying her was absolute torture to Blixer, not torturing enough to compare with his guilt issues though. He entered his and Lycan's place and finally snapped back to reality, what the fuck was he doing? What was he gonna do now, where was Cube gonna stay? Hell, the heroes were also gonna be up his ass since no one else is as stupid as him to kidnap her out of nowhere. He quietly sneaked into his room and placed Cube on his bed, then pinched the bridge of his nose.
He tried to think of what to do..oh wait, he could start by NOT LETTING HER UNCORRUPT, DUH. He had to keep her in contact with anything corrupted, he could search for something suitable but his brain was too much of a mess at that moment to do that. Instead, he sat on the spare side of his bed and placed her hand on his, then went back to thinking as Cube's hand slowly turned a familiar pinkish red.
He began thinking of every possible outcome, how he would defend himself or beat them. He frowned the more he felt stressed, he noticed that he was caressing Cube's hand with his thumb in the meantime. He was about to snatch his hand away until he remembered that he had to keep it there, he ended up just stopping his thumb instead. "It's been a while, are you gonna wake up soon?" He mumbled impatiently, he couldn't have killed her when he blocked Cube's airways, right? He gently slid his hand to Cube's wrist, then checked for a pulse. She was alive, phew.
Cube pryed her eyes open, her eyelids felt so heavy. She felt weak, she couldn't even move her head around. She tried to remain calm and tried to move her fingers, a relieved smile appeared on her face as she slowly worked her way up to her torso. She slowly sat up from the unfamiliar bed and froze. The man next to him was no other than Blixer, he was...sleeping? He was still holding Cube's hand but his head was down, she couldn't see his eye but she assumed that it was closed.
She carefully tried to move her hand away from Blixer's, then let out a squeak when Blixer suddenly squeezed her hand tightly. "You're not going anywhere." Blixer spoke as he pulled Cube's hand to himself and examined it. "Alright, at this pace you will be one of us in no time." He added.
"...why? Why did you do this?" Cube spoke quietly, she wasn't even sure of what to say, she spoke just to show some sort of reaction. Blixer froze. He wasn't sure himself, he quickly tried to come up with a reason. "Because i want revenge, what were you expecting?" He spoke as he let Cube's hand go and clasped his hands behind his neck. Cube gave him an empty stare, her expression wasn't readable.
"Boss? I'm gonna make some food, you want some?" Lycan's voice echoed through the wide corridor. He was probably using that question as an excuse to check up on Blixer, they weren't really the type to show care for each other. Blixer stiffened up and turned his head towards the door, he didn't tell anything to Lycan did he...
He began to debate whether or not he should tell Lycan. What would he even say, "Yo dude i crashed out and kidnapped this gal" or something? He unfortunately didn't have much more time to think since Lycan swung the door open with a tray of food in his hand.
He froze, Blixer froze, Cube just looked at both of them with confusion and slightly tilted her head. Lycan gave a wide eyed stare at Cube, then dramatically shifted his gaze towards Blixer. "Oh hell nah...there's no way..." He mumbled, then placed the food tray down on the floor. "Blixer, buddy...could i have a word with you?" Lycan said behind gritted teeth, Blixer nodded awkwardly like a child who's about to get scolded. He got up and walked towards the door, then turned around one last time and said "Do NOT try to run away. You're miles away from your house and I WILL find you." before turning his head back and leaving.
Cube used the time she had to observe the room she was in. It was a pretty big room, a dj controller with headphones hanging from it's corner was occupying the entire left wall. The black walls with pink beat-like rectangular decorations somehow made pink look nowhere near feminine. There was a big queen sized bed placed in the middle of the room towards the wall, which was the thing she was sitting on. The bed had some bunch of pillows, a big blanket and piles of clothes on it. Cube raised an eyebrow mockingly at the mess of a bed Blixer had, she doubted that he actually put those clothes away every night to go to sleep. The window caught her attention, the dim moonlight was seeping through the black curtain. She slowly got up and walked towards the window, then gently pulled the curtain away and looked outside. Blixer was right, he would in fact find her easily here. The place barely had any trees or anything unique, just a bland field and this big building that didn't seem to fit the location it was built in. 'I mean...it's not like they got to choose their place.' Cube though to herself, then let the curtain go and backed away. She walked towards her old spot and plopped herself on the bed she was previously judging. She closed her eyes and shifted her focus on her breath. As much as this was a terrible place to take a nap, she really needed some sleep. Plus, she had this weird sense of comfort in Blixer's room, probably because she doesn't have to fit in the "always stay happy and smile because this is a happy land!!!" rule in his house. She was almost relieved that she got kidnapped, her once quick breathing became calmer and calmer until she was finally asleep.
"Why the FUCK IS CUBE IN YOUR ROOM?? Don't tell me you walked your ass all the way over there and JUST YOINKED HER." Lycan yelled; despite calling Blixer "boss", he also scolded him when he did stuff without thinking. "I know it was stupid. I don't know what I was thinking." Blixer groaned. "This isn't something you can do without a thought dude, you kidnapped the heroes friend. Theyre SO gonna kick our asses." Lycan whined as he began walking back and forth. "No they wont. I'll uhhh, hide her and tell them that i didn't take her or something- MAN I DON'T KNOW." Blixer replied nervously, he was also starting to get stressed now. "HOW DO YOU-" Lycan stopped himself before he said some lovely stuff at his very intelligent lovely friend. He took a deep breath and restarted his sentence. "Okay, yelling won't change much. Let's just...keep her until we figure a plan out, okay?" Lycan spoke tiredly. Blixer nodded as he averted his gaze from Lycan. "She's your responsibility then, go give her something comfortable to wear or something. Im heading to bed." Lycan said as he walked towards his room. Blixer watched him leave, then let out a quiet groan and walked back into his room. It wasn't unexpected for him to come up with bizarre plans but this was definitely too far, he felt himself getting more humiliated every second and he hated it.
Blixer walked back into his room quietly and shut the door. He didn't even have the mood to get surprised at Cube sleeping, he crouched next to the bed and poked her. "Hey. Wake up, I'll give you something comfortable to wear." He quietly spoke, then frowned when he got no response. Just then, he had a good idea. He turned his head around with a smirk and grabbed his guitar, he quietly plugged it in and then began playing it right next to Cube's ear. The poor girl shot up with a gasp as Blixer began laughing. Cube turned her had and looked at Blixer with wide eyes, Blixer returned the eye contact with a stupid grin. He finished his epic guitar solo and placed everything back in place, then sat on the bed next to Cube.
"Good morning, did you like the song?" He said smugly, Cube groggily let out a "hm" and rubbed her eyes. "Anyways.." Blixer said as he stood up and walked towards his closet, he shuffled through his stuff until he managed to find sweatpants and a shirt and threw them at Cube. "Wear these, the thing you're in cannot be comfortable to sleep in." He continued as he slammed the cabinet door shut. "...wear these? Wasn't I your 'prisoner'." Cube questioned as he grabbed the clothes. "Well sorry princess, no one gets to dress like THAT in my household." Blixer said as he pointed at Cube's light blue turtleneck and long white skirt. Cube let out a fake scoff like she was offended, then pointed towards the door "Okay then get out, I'll change."
Blixer shut the door and sat on the floor, leaning his back against the door. His expression hardened again as he quietly stared at the floor. He wanted to punch himself for being this stupid, he wished Lycan did or something. He had to take care of Cube like a pet now, all because he wanted revenge. How could that even be revenge, seriously what was he thinking?? Just as he was lost in his thoughts, the door creaked open, causing him to fall down. Cube let out a tiny scream as she stepped back, she stared at the big corrupted laying on the floor.
"They might be a bit too big for you but this is all i had." Blixer said as he stood back up, he observed the girl in front of him. Seeing someone else wearing his clothes was weird, the clearly oversized clothes looked funny on Cube. The only thing holding the sweatpants in place was the rope it had, Cube had it tied tightly around her waist. The shirt definitely didn't match Cube's style, the big black shirt almost reached all the way down to her knees, her short blue hair was a bit messy from the nap she was just woken up from. "Uhh, where do i sleep then? Do you guys have like a prison or something here?" Cube asked as he looked back up at the corrupted observing her. "No, it would be pretty dope to have it though, im keeping that idea for later. And you can sleep on..." Blixer squinted his eyes and looked around. "I think we had an extra matress laying around, I'll go get it." He said as he left the room again. Cube frowned and threw herself back on Blixer's bed, "he'll just wake me up when he's back." She talked to herself as she went back to her nap.
Blixer grunted dramatically as he dragged a big matress in the room, then saw Cube's state. He placed the matress next to his bed, walked over to Cube and placed his hand on his hip. He towered over Cube, hoping that she will feel his presence and get up or something but it was no use. He sat on the matress on the floor and began thinking. Normally he would've just dragged her down on the matress but what if she woke up during that, it would be pretty awkward. He thought for a while, then rolled his eyes as he stood up and stood over Cube again. He took a deep breath, then carefully scooped her up and crouched down to put her on the matress. Cube's head fell on Blixer's chest, no sign of her waking up was present. He carefully put her on the matress and threw a blanket on her, then laid on his bed with a smug victory smile. Was he even supposed to sleep, didn't he have to watch over Cube to make sure she doesn't escape? 'Meh.' He thought to himself. 'She doesn't seem like she'll wake up anytime soon.' He also shut his eyes and went to sleep praying that the heroes doesn't crash into the house and steal Cube back.
Cube slowly opened her eyes, then let out a yawn. She sat up on the matress...wait..matress? She looked up at Blixer's bed, then back on the matress. How did she even get there, did Blixer carry her? A faint blush appeared on her face, then quickly disappeared back. She stood up and tiptoed her way towards the window, the lifted the curtain up quietly and looked outside. The sunshine was too bright, she turned her head blinked a few times then went back to looking outside. There still wasn't much but atleast there were a few birds, she held her breath and paid attention to see if she could hear them chirp with a sleepy smile. She finally backed away from the window and turned around to the snoring Blixer, her smile faded away. She was just an early bird i guess, or maybe these corrupteds just woke up late. I mean, they didn't really have a job to do, or an event they had to attend, or a hero banging at their door to wake them up in the mornings.
She missed her house already. She missed Cyan, Heli, Captain, just...everyone. Normally a day away from her place wouldn't affect her at all but not knowing when she will be back, or if she will be back at all, was stressing her out. Where even were they? She expected them to save her by now, even if she hated being a burden to them it was an undeniable truth that she constantly needed saving. She would get mad at them for babying her, then get herself into a situation and the heroes would save her as always. She would thank them and apologize politely but deep down, she was scared that they would give up on her one day. She was scared that she would be too much, was that why they didn't save her yet? Was she too much trouble? She sat on the matress and tried to calm herself down, she was still a crybaby at her grown age. She tried to distract herself and focus on her breathing again but it was too late, she felt a tear roll down her cheek. Was this their breaking point, did they finally have enough of saving her? She covered her face and lifted her head up as she still tried to focus on her breathing. She didn't want to wake Blixer up, that would be awkward. She put her head down again and tried to fall back asleep.
"Psst, Cube. Cuuuuubeeeeee cubecubecubecubeeeeee" Blixed whispered as he poked Cube's cheek, there was definitely better ways to wake someone up but Blixer couldn't come up with any ideas so poking her was a go to. After a few pokes, Cube weakly lifted her hand and pushed Blixer's finger away. She sat up on the matress and looked up at Blixer with half open eyes. "Lycan made pancakes, you gotta taste them dude he's so good at making them." Blixer whispered again, this time a bit louder. Cube didn't respond, her brain wasn't done loading yet. Blixer stood up and reached his hand out towards her, Cube grabbed his hand and pulled herself up.
It was weird seeing them so casual, Cube couldn't help but feel out of place. Lycan was wearing a baggy shirt and some dark red shorts, the shirt was slipping off of one of his shoulders but he couldn't be bothered to fix it. His normally spiky hair seemed more tame, probably because it wasn't styled. He was flipping pancakes, stopping every once in a while to yawn and then going back to his job. "Mornin' femboy." Blixer said as he walked past Lycan, he responded by raising his middle finger at Blixer without turning around. Cube followed Blixer and sat next to him, she felt lucky that she was too sleepy to feel awkward right now.
