Chapter Text
Charger one: The Escape
Despite it all, it was to Cains horror that after losing the favorite character award to some random NPC that he made up, he lost it. He got them all back into the circus’s made room and no one was able to talk him down, absolutely no body. His mind completely shattered and his abstraction sprung to life a horrible monster. One that started to destroy everything, even the reality of the circus it self.
It was horrifying, walls were coming down, the ground was tearing apart, but all the others knew to do was grab onto eachother. Gangle held onto Zooble as she cried, the other cradling her mask as if to protect it from falling debris. Kinger was holding Ragathas hands as she started to panic, causing them both to fall into a newly formed hole down below them. Screaming as their voices faded into the darkness, gone from sight.
Pomni was panicking, watching everything she had been imprisoned by break before her. Caines abstraction was growing larger and larger, his eyes spiraling in a thousand directions. And in a horrible instance, they both zeroed in on her.
Her feet were like cinder blocks, glued to the floor. She felt like she was sinking to the bottom of the ocean and all she could do was let death take her.
That was before two slender arms scooped her up and started to run down the hall with her. Those usually big eyes shrinking in fear as Jax took off with the jester. They had not spoken since their fight before the awards, but fuck was she glad to see him.
“F**k- Jax! What is this?! What do we do?!” The jester screamed as she moved to look over his shoulder, the monster chasing right on their tails. He was no Caine anymore. His teeth were sharper and his skin was glitching between blacks, greens, purples and even a horrible red. A roar ripped though the interior around them, and Pomni held onto the rabbit with a fierceness.
Jax laughed with a mix of exasperation and fear as he turned sharply down the hall to their rooms. “How should I know!? This is all new for me too!”
Pomnis mind was spinning. She had watched Kinger and Agatha fall, where did they go? Where did they end up? They had left Gangle and Zooble behind…Did they fall too? Is that why this..monsterous Caine is chasing them?
One thing she noticed was that, the monster had not been chasing Jax in the first place. When she moved her head, her arms, all of the eyes followed her. She didn’t know why but…she had a feeling this abstraction was because of her. Some how. That didn’t make any sense but… he was after her.
Without thinking, she bit down on Jax’s arm, hard, causing him to scream and drop her. Looking back at her, his face was distraught in confusion. “What- pomni! We don’t have time to fight, idiot, we have to go!”
He watched in horror as the jester took off towards the abstraction, using the door frame as something to run up and go past him, the monster turning and following her. Her voice rang out over into the bunnies ears.
“Go! Run you B****d! Not that you would care if he abstracted me anyways, right?!” That struck him to his core, plastering a glare into his features. *Is she really going to be petty about this?! Right now???*
Jax wanted to go after her, infact, he wanted to go after everyone. As that monster chased Pomni off, there was a moment he was alone. In that dark, familiar yet scary hallway of rooms. All of their faces, the ones that have left them, and the ones that…He wasn’t even sure if they were alive anymore.
Smacking his hands against his head, he forced himself out of his dissociation. Growling, he took a step infront of him, and his foot was met with nothing. In an instance, he seemed to glitch through the floor.
Like falling through the ground in a video game, Jax felt his body go weightless as he plummeted. Staring up at the world above him, he screamed into the void as it became smaller..smaller….And then every thing was dark.
*New York, 8:45 pm, fifteen minutes before clock out.*
Gasping, the man sitting at his desk in the far corner woke up in a horrible panic as his head hit his desk. As if going by muscle memory, his hands reached up and yanked at the head set infront of his eyes. His forehead was sweaty and a soft red line circled around his face showing the indentations of the head set.
Everything came into view in slow motion. The computer infront of him, asking if he wanted to continue playing a game that… no longer had a title. It honestly looked so blurry that if he wasn’t who he was, he wouldn’t know what it said.
But what caught his eyes the most was his hands. He looked down and saw that, they were not purple. They were tanned, full of melanin and even soft moles the more up his arm he looked. He worn a silver ring on his thumb that bore his initial, J.
With shaky hands, he reached up into his hair, being met with twists and a flat head with no buddy ears. Looking down at the computer, he turned it off, and saw himself for the first time in years in the reflection.
The sliver glint of a lip ring shined as he gasped, bright amber eyes taking in his…human features. Gently touching his cheeks and neck, it couldn’t be real. This…this had to be an adventure…
Right?
