“Daddy, I don’t feel good.”
The pup had woken Mike up earlier than normal. The smell of vomit on the pup told Mike everything. He patted the sleeping form of Harvey next to him. “Hey babe, help me with Zane?” Harvey let out a sleepy groan. “Do you want to clean up Zane, or vomit?” Harvey finally sat up and looked at his mate and pup. The smell of vomit hit him and he retched. “Nope.” He tagged Mike’s shoulder. “You’re on vomit duty.” He got out of bed and scooped up Zane. “Let’s go shower, buddy.” Mike shook his head at Harvey’s aversion to any type of bodily fluids. Having Zane definitely broke him of some, but he drew the line at vomit.
Mike felt of Zane’s little forehead as he tucked him back into clean sheets. He was warm to the touch and the pup’s face was flushed red. Harvey leaned against the doorframe of Zane’s room. “We can’t take him to daycare if he has a fever.” Mike smoothed Zane’s hair as he waited for the pup to go to sleep. “I know we have a big court hearing today, but I’ll take him to the doctor right after.” Harvey shook his head. “Don’t worry about court. I’ll hold the fort down while you’re gone. Just bring him back to the office after his appointment.”
“Nope, out!” Louis instantly pointed Mike back towards his office door as Mike carried in a bundled up Zane. “Please Louis, I just need you to watch him for the afternoon.” Mike begged as he sat Zane down on the office couch. “Why is he sick?” Louis interrogated, quickly drenching his hands in hand sanitizer. Mike rolled his eyes. “He’s a kid, Louis. They get sick all the time. I took him to his pediatrician. It’s just a twenty-four hour stomach bug.” Mike sat down next to Zane. “Uncle Louis is going to watch you for a few hours. Drink your apple juice and I’ll come get you after my meetings, okay?” Zane nodded and snuggled into his blanket. Mike glanced at his watch and quickly kissed Zane’s forehead. “I have to go. Thanks, Louis. I owe you!” Mike quickly left, leaving a flustered Louis. “Uncle Lou?” Louis stiffly turned towards the pup’s voice. “Can I watch cartoons on your laptop?” Zane asked with big, brown eyes. Big, brown eyes that instantly melted the lawyer. “Of course you can, sweetie.”
Harvey glanced up from his laptop as Donna briskly walked into his office. “Harvey, Louis is here to-“ “To tell you to come get your sick pup from my office.” Louis abruptly cut Donna off as he blew past her. Harvey rolled his eyes at the flustered lawyer. “Is Zane okay?” Louis’s eyes widened. “Oh-oh, sweet little Zane is fine. I’m the one that is not okay at the moment!” He braced himself against Harvey’s desk and leaned into the alpha’s face. “He vomited in my coffee mug, Harvey.” Harvey raised an eyebrow. “How…?” Louis waved his hands in dismissal. “It just came up and I grabbed the closest thing to catch it.” Harvey held back a laugh unsuccessfully. Louis glared, his bottom eyelid twitching. “Laugh it up, Harvey. I’ll just charge you the cleaning bill to get the stench of vomit out of my office.” He turned and quickly walked back out of Harvey’s office. Donna winked at Harvey. “I’ll go get him for you.” She quickly followed Louis, suppressing a small giggle.
Mike walked into Harvey’s office, finding his husband and sleeping pup snuggled up on the couch. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to leave him for too long.” The omega plopped down onto the couch next to Harvey, exhausted. He smoothed a hand through Zane’s little mohawk. “How is he?” Harvey started chuckling quietly, trying not to wake Zane. “Did I miss something?” Mike asked, slightly puzzled. “Well, there’s one less You Just Got Litt Up mug in this world.” Harvey answered between giggles. Mike winced. “In a good way or bad way?” “I would say in a good way. Louis used it to catch his vomit.” Harvey retched at the thought. “So to answer your question. I think he’s feeling a little bit better.” Mike smiled and leaned against Harvey. “That’s why I left him with Louis.” Harvey pecked a kiss on Mike’s lips. “And I love you for that.”
