“You should have her hair pin.” Kanao’s voice fills the otherwise empty room with an echo, and Giyuu thinks that perhaps hers is the first he has heard since the final battle. “The Haori wasn't really hers… I think that’s more of my legacy to share.”
His eyes are stuck on the pin as Kanao slides it over to him. “I don't think…” He licks his lips, tracing his hand on the intricate butterfly detailing. It is so hard to find the proper words nowadays, to convey what he feels. It cannot be emptiness, as he is inclined to describe, because his chest feels so full that it could burst. “Maybe, you should give this to Inosuke?”
“Inosuke wanted her Kyahan,” Kanao reveals gently. “He is fastening them to his pelt.”
The truth is that Giyuu does not believe that he deserves such a gift. Certainly, there are people Shinobu was closer to than him, outwardly at least. Yet Kanao leaves the pin behind nonetheless, and the room is once again silent. The roughness of the crystal edges dig into his fingers, and Giyuu holds it up so he can look at it a little better.
He’s surprised that it held up, it must’ve been strong.
