Work Text:
Sephiroth hates the science department for lots of reasons he wishes not to disclose, but one of his biggest pet peeves is the cold. No matter what day, or season, Hojo’s labs are always freezing. He tends to walk out of there with his hands shoved into his pockets and his nose flushed red.
It’s clammy and a certain type of cold that pierces his insides. It’s humid and wet but somehow not warm in the slightest, making his skin dry. It’s like an assault to every sense in the human body. Not that his uniform isn’t warm. Black leather will warm anybody up, but it’s as if Hojo’s lab sucks up any shred of warmth and comfort left in Sephiroth’s body. So he tends to go seek it out to get some back.
Genesis is warm but it’s not as if he’s the friendliest. Sephiroth showing up and asking for cuddles in the middle of the day isn’t something typical for him. He’d probably complain the whole time anyway. His perfume also makes Sephiroth dizzy.
Angeal is much warmer than Genesis, but everything in his room says otherwise. Sephiroth isn’t sure of the last time he saw more than one blanket on his bed.
Zack is warm, too. Very warm. Sephiroth has already made up his mind before he even realizes he’s standing in front of Zack’s door and knocking.
The man in question answers the door so fast, Sephiroth isn’t sure he wasn’t just standing there waiting for someone to show up.
“Hey, Seph!” He beams up at the general, who offers a shy smile in return. “Something up?”
Sephiroth shakes his head.
“No, just–” Sephiroth outstretches his arm and tugs his glove off. “Feel.”
With reverence, because Zack is taking this as holding hands in his mind, he slots his fingers between Sephiroth.
“Shit, man, you’re like ice,” He muses, immediately beginning to rub Sephiroth’s hands between his own like he’s attempting to kindle a fire. “Come in, I have more blankets than I know what to do with.”
Still holding Sephiroth’s hand, Zack tugs Sephiroth inside and onto his couch. Sephiroth is left somewhat awkwardly waiting while Zack returns with a handful of blankets. He unceremoniously tosses said pile onto Sephiroth’s lap.
“Sorry.” He flops down next to Sephiroth. “One of those might be weighted.”
“Quite a collection you have,” Sephiroth sheds his coat before unfolding the fluffiest and spreading it out over the two of them. “Why so many?”
“Because Midgar is freezing during the winter!” Zack answers while reaching over to grab a blanket. “I was already cold before you showed up.”
Zack slides over to press their bodies together, pulling one blanket up so that only his head is poking out.
“Warmer?”
Sephiroth leans to rest his head atop Zack’s, nuzzling into his hair.
“Much warmer.”
