Work Text:
The skirts settle around Neuvillette's legs, not so long that she risks stepping on them. When she turns they follow, rippling like waves across the water. Furina giggles when she makes a full circle to watch the way the hems lift slightly, suspended in the air for a moment, before they follow the motion belatedly and fall.
Furina seems positively giddy, stealing glances at Neuvillette's face as they coax her into different poses for them to snap pictures of. Their enthusiasm must have rubbed off on her. Neuvillette indulges them as she spends more time investigating the way the dress moves with her. The way the sleeves are shaped loosely around her arms, how they hang when she raises her arms. The way the fabric puffs slightly before being drawn into the corset.
"And now..." Furuna hmm's, lips pursed as they consider Neuvillette and then the kamera in front of them. "Could you pout a bit?"
Neuvillette tilts her head in question.
"Oh, you know—" Furina raises their chin, sticking their lower lip out as they look down on her, an almost-haughty expression. "—like this. You do it often."
Neuvillette blinks. "Do I?"
"Yes, yes—you don't notice? When you're thinking about something you don't like, or you're growing tired of the current conversation, or you're desperately hoping no one will aproach you and talk to you at the moment—"
"Those seem... overly specific," Neuvillette notes, amused. "How can you tell exactly what I'm feeling?"
"Ah, but of course I can tell. Just how long have we known each other? Anyways, just think of one of those times, then I'm sure it'll come naturally."
Neuvillette considers it. Holding the image of Furina's (surely at least somewhat exaggerated) expression in her mind, she lifts her chin and narrows her eyes at the kamera.
"Hm, no, that's more 'suspicious'—open your eyes a little bit? And raise your eyebrows a little more—?"
Neuvillette does just that.
"Exactly!" Furina peers down at the viewfinder, other hand raised as they squint. "Keep your lower lip out—yes, that's it, and don't forget to—Yes, perfect! Hold it, hold it—there we go. Magnificent!"
Later, Neuvillette looks through the photos Furina took and gave to her. Though she's already changed out of the dress, the lightness she felt when she spun in it lingers—as if for a moment she's moving underwater again, near-weightless.
