☆♥♡ Serena's Journey ★♡*

Hoenn Region - Mauville: Airport

As the plane landed, the passengers prepared to disembark. One by one they disembarked, some with their Pokémon, all of them small, obviously. Among them was a beautiful trainer accompanied by her Sylveon, wearing a pink top and mini-skirt, a red jacket, black thigh-high stockings, and leather boots. About her beautiful caramel-colored hair, her slightly pointed pink hat, and, of course, a very special ribbon on her chest, the color of her beautiful blue eyes. None other than Serena, the Kalos native known for her performances, the Kalos semi-champion, having almost become the queen of the region. Now in Hoenn, the young woman has set out to challenge herself in coordination, having been mentored by the former performer, Ms. Palermo, also from Kalos. Will she achieve her goal? What will her first impression of the region be like? Well, let's find out.

Serena POV

I walked with Sylveon by my side, passing through the airport. I still can't believe I've arrived, feeling my feet on the ground again...it's strange. It was a 3-day trip, but I feel like I was in Kalos yesterday. But, well, enough nostalgia, I need to move on.

Sylveon wrapped her ribbons around my hand, as usual. It's such a good feeling, a connection between the two of us, it's magical. She looks at me with her cute eyes, and wow, how perfect she is. "Vy-veon!" she says, showing affection.

"We've been waiting so long, and we're finally here. What do you think about letting the others go and getting to know the city better?"

"Veon," she says, nodding her head.

"Great! Braixen, Pancham, come out!" The bipedal fox and the stylish panda emerge from the two Poké Balls.

"Pan-pan!"

"Braixen-Brai!" They both see me and hug me; they hadn't seen me since the trip. I return the hug, which Sylveon also joins in, wrapping the three of us with its long ribbons.

"I missed you so much!" I took Braixen's hand, and with the other I gently stroked Pancham's hair. "The exit is right there ahead," I pointed to the door, a few meters from us. "So, are we going to go all out or not?"

"Cham!"

"Veon!" "-Brai!" - the three agreed.

"-Then let's go!" - the four of us ran towards the door, opening it and finally finding ourselves in Hoenn. And how incredible it was.

Narrator POV

Unlike the modern and technological buildings of the cities of Kalos, Mauville had a more rustic aspect, not exactly ancient or old, but of course, simpler. The streets full of Pokémon confirmed the fame the city had, known as the potential capital of Hoenn, due to its size and activity. Serena looked at everything in admiration, from each person and their Pokémon passing by, to the surrounding buildings. Her Pokémon also seemed amazed.

They walked through the streets, admiring the entire view around them. Sylveon still held Serena with its ribbons, squeezing tighter now due to its joy, and Serena loved it; the touch of her fairy Pokémon was special to her. They walked until they reached a corner, and on the other side they came across a coffee shop/diner, Crooner's Café.

"Wow, it looks like a nice place," Serena said, looking out the window. The place had a rustic yet chic feel, very much like Mauville. "So, are you hungry?"

At that moment, Pancham's stomach rumbled loudly, making the others sigh, and Pancham smiled awkwardly.

"Pan Pan," he said shyly, agreeing.

"Well, I guess that's a yes," Serena said, as the four of them entered the place. It was very cozy, with a retro vibe, and even live music! A group of three purple Pokémon, which Serena presumed to be from the same evolutionary lineage, were singing a soft and relaxing ambient song in a corner. "Cool, there's even live music! But what Pokémon are these?" she pulled out her Pokédex.

Wishmur, and its evolved forms Loudred and Exploud, are the typical sound-based Pokémon of the Hoenn region. They are normally noisy, but can create harmonious melodies when well-focused.

"They really are quite harmonious," her Pokémon agree. Soon they sit at a table and order a meal. While they wait, Serena admires the view from the window, watching several people pass by with their Pokémon, listening to the sweet melody of the restaurant. Soon the food arrives, and everyone enjoys it. Serena takes the opportunity to grab her holocaster, taking a selfie with her Pokémon, which ends up capturing Pancham distracted, all smeared with food.

"Pan Pan!!" he complains angrily.

— Oh Pancham, relax, it's just a picture and you look so cute all dirty, look! — she says, showing the picture to the little panda and giggling, which makes Braixen and Sylveon laugh too, and Pancham just makes a cute frown, but smiles slightly.

Then Serena takes the opportunity to look at the map on her Holocaster, seeing that there was a Pokémon Center nearby.

— Hey guys, there's a Pokémon Center nearby, how about we stop by? We can stay and rest a bit.

— Ve-Vey/Braixen/Pan pan! — the three agree. After paying the bill, Serena and her Pokémon leave the table and head to the Pokémon Center, going straight to the reception.

— Look, the nurse is just like the ones in Kalos! — Serena said, already being greeted by Nurse Joy.

— Good afternoon, my name is Joy and I'll be your nurse today! — she says with a smile, accompanied by her Chansey.

— Even the names are the same... — Serena whispers to her Pokémon, who nod in agreement — Well, it's a pleasure, Joy. We'd like a room to stay in. I'm Serena, and these are my Pokémon. — the Kalos native says, introducing herself and her Pokémon.

— Great, I'll register you and take you there — she then looks more closely at Serena's Pokémon, especially Braixen and Pancham — Oh, they don't seem native to here... they're from Kalos, aren't they? — she asks, excitedly curious, which surprises Serena.

— Yes, we all come from there, but wait, how did you guess so quickly?

"Well, we Joys are known as excellent nurses for a reason; we know almost everything about Pokémon, which helps when it comes to treating them properly," she explains. "Besides, I might have a relative or two from Kalos who taught me a few things," she finishes, sticking her tongue out playfully. "But anyway, let's go to your room," she says, leaving, followed by Serena and her companions. "So, what brings you to Hoenn? Didn't you like Kalos?" she asks, standing a little ahead of the others, catching Serena off guard with the question. The Joys aren't usually into personal conversations, but the caramel-colored girl was happy to answer anyway.

"Not at all, we love Kalos, don't we, guys?" "— she asks, and the three little creatures agree in unison — we had an incredible journey there, it was… — she hesitates to say, suddenly memories of her journey come flooding back, memories of her friends, Clemont, Bonnie, As… —… very important for us, actually — she finally speaks, cutting off her own thoughts — but we came to Hoenn to improve everything we learned in Kalos.

— Oh, that's incredible, and actually a big step. You know, exploring another region is quite a challenge, especially being alone — she says this, now walking beside Serena — it requires a tremendous level of experience as a trainer, especially to adapt your Pokémon to the region's battle style.

— Oh no, actually I'm not that kind of trainer — she explains to Joy — you know I'm a performer and…

— Veon! — Sylveon says, nudging the trainer with one of its ribbons, almost as a complaint, which Serena understands."

— Oh yes, we're performers, and, well, now we're going to enter the Pokémon contests.

— Contests, huh? They're quite different from performances, do you know how they work? — she says, stopping and turning to Serena, who looks at the Pokémon, quite confused, who look at each other with the same confused expression; none of them knew how a contest worked in practice. She looks back at Joy.

— W-well, actually we don't know, not in practice. — Serena says, embarrassed and with her head down. She felt she should be more prepared than that.

— Hey, don't worry — she puts her hand on Serena's shoulder, in a supportive way — you're new to the region, it's common to be a little lost and uninformed, but it's not too late to learn, right? — she says, which Serena returns with a half-smile. Joy then takes a few more steps and stops at what is their room. Serena was about to enter, but Joy interrupts her.

"Wait!" she said, pulling a pamphlet from her lab coat and handing it to the Kalosian. "Here's all the information about Hoenn. It's for tourists, but it'll help you." She turned the pamphlet over, revealing a section about contests. "It's very brief, but it has the name of the website you can check out. You can find everything you need about contests there, including the next one so you can prepare. Most beginners start in Verdenturf." She showed it to Serena, already leaving, leaving a thoughtful Serena behind. "And girl, relax, you're lost now, but you have a bright future, you all do," she finished, giving a reassuring smile to the caramel-colored girl and her Pokémon.

Serena looked at the pamphlet thoughtfully. Well, first she put her things on the bed, her hat on the dresser next to the bed, and sat down, lost in thought. Her Pokémon watched her, also thoughtful, until she took a breath and smiled broadly.

"Well, everyone, I know we arrived unprepared, well, I arrived as a trainer, actually," she explains. "It's a new region, new challenges, and a new style for us to learn. It won't be easy; we'll have to change a lot and give up some things from our old style, but..." She looks at each of them, approaches, and holds Sylveon's ribbon, and with her other hand holds one of Pancham and Braixen's paws, "...this will improve us once and for all. We'll be more experienced, more united, and even more victorious." She finishes, confident and radiant, inspiring her Pokémon, who in unison shout and hug her.

"Brai!/ Pan! /Veon!"

"Great, now let's sleep. Tomorrow we begin our learning and training for the contests, so let's rest." She picks up the Poké Balls and returns her Pokémon, placing them on the dresser beside her, and then turning off the light.

In the dead of night, she lies down and spends some time lost in thought: would she be strong enough for the contests? And her journey, would she handle everything well being alone, just with her Pokémon? Especially dealing with her feelings towards... well, it wasn't time to think about that. Tomorrow would be another day, another beginning, another journey for the young Kalosian.
