Work Text:
When Aceto looked at herself in the mirror after a long shower, she blinked and didn’t even flinch when seeing she didn’t see her own reflection but instead, her late grandmother’s with slight changes and she valued it.
After all, the stories she would hear from her mother and uncles that her grandparents were practically gods among mortals, how her godmother was gushing over them in clear fascination as she compared to them figures from the Bible.
Back when she was six years old, she never thought of it much but as she nears her own 18th birthday, she can finally understand what they meant.
And yet, there had never been any silences, between them, never a silent moment between the girl who was considered a supernova and her descendant that was like a blackhole.
Especially when they both took their first breath the same way, living life in a way of their humanity to be polished as if they were glamorous beings, sharing similar interests and made the universe feel a pull towards each girl.
From a girl who was born to exist forever only to be unfairly snuffed out to being reborn and showing the destroyed world that their sacred being would never truly die out, for she could never be forgotten or left behind.
Both were like background noise, something soothing and calming, a friend. Doppio was a silent kindness and without her it feels like there is no kindness left, she was the strength in the humanity.
And she was a window and Aceto can almost see herself in the reflection, but only faded, only vaguely.
Aceto makes a difference, she could probably save the world or something else, but there is something to be understood here: with her first breath, Aceto Una forgives the world.
She forgives the world in place of her grandparents she has yet to learn about but she already knows of them in a way, deep in her heart and with the blood running through her veins, she forgives the world for them.
And that’s why Trish is so grateful that Aceto is almost carefully carefree, like her madre was, someone who has that childlike wonder and someone you could be jealous of because of how happy she was to her freedom and her devotion to her desires.
It’s just like the fairy tale you have in yourself.
That’s why Aceto Una will always carry on her mother’s and grandparents will, she’ll always be their starlight…
