Wherefore Art Thou

Summary:

During her reunion with Romeo, Jolyne realizes she’d much rather be the Juliet to someone else…

Notes:

Sorry about the short length of this one, I’m busy on my spicy alt (which i will not be providing here for obvious reasons), but I haven’t forgotten about y’all!

I promise to get more stuff here soon!

ALSO, this can be read as part of my stone ocean au, or in the original universe in general

Work Text:

Jolyne knew what the plan was. Sneak inside his house, butter him up with some pretty words and touches, and he’d fold like laundry. Simple enough on paper.

But as she had him there, his teary face held in her hands as she was leaned in close, close enough to the point where Romeo could feel her breath against his lips…

All she felt was disgust. Not just with the man before her, but with herself.

As she gently placed the sticker on his tongue, she kept saying more things that weren’t true. About how she no longer held a grudge, and that she didn’t hate him anymore.

True, the fact that her incarceration was a setup by the mad zealot of a vampire lord probably made her feel a little better about the whole situation, but still.

His face was cold, and his skin was so rough, too. Everything about this felt so wrong.

…Because it wasn’t her.

Jolyne wasn’t feeling her skin, which was perfectly smooth and soft, and had just the right amount of warmth…

Her hands weren’t running through her hair, which would have flowed like dark curtains around her fingers, going between each loc as she kissed her…

Jolyne had always had some lingering doubts about her sexuality growing up. She knew she liked men, obviously, even after Romeo had utterly screwed her over, that wouldn’t change.

But then Ermes Costello entered her life. And along with it, a firm affirmation of something she had suspected for a while now

She, Jolyne Cujoh, was a raging bisexual.

As she walked away, she held the lying snake’s tongue in her fist, alongside the sticker.

The sticker of Ermes’ Stand, Kiss.

…How ironic, really.

Because once this was over, that’s all Jolyne wanted to do.

Kiss Ermes until the day she died.
