Work Text:

The dim lights of the hotel room glowed softly as Dominik tried to locate the outlet. He felt around for a second before plugging the cord into the wall with a satisfying click. He followed the cord down until he picked up the small glue gun that Damian always carried on his person and switched it on.

“Better to have something you don’t need, then need something you don’t have.” Damian said when Dom asked him why he had a glue gun. It turned out he was right. The past week had been busy. He had been booked on all three brands for a while now, and it seemed the stress was taking its toll on his gear. Ever since his schedule had picked up, Dom ordered another copy of his black gear just to keep things fresh. But the strings on his original boots had finally started to fray and some had even fallen off.

Dom had sighed looking down at his boots after Smackdown earlier that night. “My boots are falling apart.” he commented while Rhea was wiping off her makeup.

She turned around to look. “Yea it is fraying quite a bit.” She nodded. Then she gave a reassuring smile. “It’s okay, it's like a battle scar. You’ve been working so hard!”

Dom had crinkled his brow at her. “Battle scar? No I don’t think so…” Dom disagreed. “It’s wrong. It needs to be neat and clean and perfect.” he shuffled the boot off his foot and started trying to push the strings back into place. He swatted at the laces like they would magically fix.

Rhea laughed. “If you say so.” She shrugged, quite amused. “You're not gonna fix them by staring at them, silly. Here, give them to me and I’ll hot glue all the strings back together for you.” She reached out her hand, still smiling.

“Hot glue? I don’t remember how to work it. I haven't used that stuff since like 5th grade… Besides, where would we get some?” He asked.

“Priest always carries around one.” Rhea replied. “Something about not needing something is better than needing it, and not having it.” Her hand was still out, waiting for him to give her the boots.

Dom had looked at her for a long second. He didn’t want her to think he was incapable of fixing his gear. “It’s ok I got it. I’ll go ask Priest.”

Rhea had frowned. “But you just said you didn’t know how to use it…”

Dom began poking around her bag. “Do you have anything you want me to glue for you?” He asked.

“Well one of my makeup brushes is broken. Every time I try to use it, it just breaks in half again.” She showed him the broken brush and let it fall off. She laughed and picked it up off the floor.

“Alright, give it to me. I’ll glue it for you mami.” Now it was Dom’s turn to hold out his hand. Rhea had raised her eyebrow but given him the brush, much to his pleasure.

After acquiring the glue gun from Damian, Dom had brought the concoction over to his and Rhea’s hotel room. While Rhea was in the shower, Dom turned on the glue gun and waited for it to heat up. He wasn’t kidding when he told Rhea he didn’t know how to use a hot glue gun. Well I assume it's just like a normal gun. He thought, holding it like one in his hands. He held the gun up to his eyes playfully, like aiming to shoot. The bathroom door suddenly slid open and Dom dropped the gun immediately, like a guilty boy.

“Dom…” Rhea smiled at him knowingly. “What are you doing? You really don’t know how to use that, do you?” She fixed her blow-dried hair in the mirror.

“Of course I do!” Dom replied defensively. “I’m just waiting for it to heat up.”

Rhea turned back to him. She was wearing black shorts and one of his T-shirts that covered them. “Really Dom, just let me do it for you. It's not that big of a deal.”

“No no no.” Dom said, picking up the glue gun. “I’m perfectly capable. It’s just glue.”

“I know you're capable but you could burn yourself if you're not careful. I don't want you to get hurt.” she said, leaning against the bed next to where he was sitting.

“Why would I burn myself?” Dom scoffed, gathering the strings that needed to be attached back.

“Well because it's  hot glue, genius.”

“Do I just press the trigger?” Dom asked instead of answering. Rhea nodded, watching him carefully. Dom gathered the strings in a bunch and began spreading glue all over them. It was very messy. Rhea looked like she was trying her best not to laugh. Dom smushed the strings in a line against his boot and stopped.

“What's wrong?” Rhea asked, leaning forward.

“What now?” Dom held the strings to the boot awkwardly.

“Well you just wait for it to dry. It shouldn't take too long, hot glue dries super fast.” She tilted her head. “You could probably let go now.” Dom nodded and let the strings go. To his surprise, they stayed in place, stuck to the boot.

“Ooooh this is cool.” He checked the glue gun again with newfound curiosity.

Rhea laughed again. “You're such a child sometimes.” she commented. Dom’s face must have changed because she quickly followed up. “It’s not a bad thing… It’s really cute.” Rhea reached over and gave his cheek a little squish. Dom smiled up at her, whimsical.

“Maybe we should hot glue our hands together, so we never let go,” he said. Rhea beamed at him. Dom picked up the gun to work on her brush. Or he tried to. Either it was too dark to see what he was doing or he was too busy staring at Rhea, that he touched the metal part of the glue gun.

“Ouch!” he pulled his hand back and winced in pain. Rhea scooted forward with concern.

“Did you burn yourself? I told you to be careful…” She grabbed his finger and smoothed it over multiple times. “You said you knew what you were doing.” She gave the tip of his finger multiple kisses to try and soothe the pain. “Are you alright?”

“I’m ok.” Dom reassured her. He entangled their hands together with a smile. “Nothing a couple of kisses can’t fix.”

Rhea blushed a tiny bit. “Oh Dom, you're so sweet and cheesy. I love you.” She beamed at him.

“I love you too.”
