On slow days, you would visit the Octopod. When you first visited, Barnacles introduced you to everyone. Everyone made you feel welcome.
Up first were the vegimals. You had never seen something like them before. Even so, you treated them with respect. Turnip offered you freshly baked vegetable-shaped cookies, and you accepted. They weren't too soft and weren't too crunchy, and they had just the right taste.
You were then introduced to Dashi, the Octonauts' IT officer. She was sweet and kind. She was eager to show you the basics of operating the controls and equipped you with an Octo-Watch.
Up next was the med bay and the medical officer. After you were introduced, Peso then started to ask about your health. "When was your last annual checkup?" "Did you get your flu shot?" "Experiencing any underwater seasickness?"
Barnacles interrupted him with a raise of his paw. "Uh-um," he cleared his throat, "maybe another time, Peso."
Barnacles then introduced you to the marine biologist, Shellington. He told you what he was working on—monitoring sample corals. "Pollution is causing the coral reef to die. I'm working to get the corals healthy again."
"Keep up the good work, Shellington. If anyone can help the corals, it's you." Said Barnacles assuredly.
Then it was the engineer, Tweak, in the docking bay. You liked her outward personality. She explained what she was working on. Tweaking the Gub-B. "Apparently, it's not fast enough for Kwazii." She said in fake annoyance.
And speak of the devil, the daring lieutenant Kwazii showed up. Captain Barnacles introduced you to the last member, Kwazii. Kwazii offered to give you a ride in his favorite Gup—the Gup-B! But Barnacles declined for you. "Sorry, Kwazii, they already have plans with me."
Your face lightly heated up, but you pretended it wasn't a big deal.
The two of you hopped into the Gup-B, with Barnacles giving you a hand to help you in.
The two of you set off on your adventure.
