Work Text:
"Naru is possessed!" exclaims Mai to all the members of the SPR team, who gathered when Mai had called them desperately.
"Possessed?" Ayako asks with a raised eyebrow. Mai nods fervently.
"I don't feel anything strange around him," adds Masako. "What makes you think he's possessed?" she asks curiously.
"H-he's acting weird," she says, blushing as she recalls what he did earlier. "He's possessed!"
"And I'm telling you I can't feel anything," Masako replied, getting annoyed that they don't believe her. "Do you doubt my powers?"
She shook her head.
"No, but... he..."
"He what?" Monk asked, seeing that she had fallen silent and she began to blush. Remembering what her boss had done or tried to do.
"H-he, he..."
"What?" Masako questioned, not standing the suspense.
"He winked at me!" she yelled. And that was the worst thing she could have done, it sounded stupid, but she didn't want to tell them that he had almost tried to kiss her, that he had given her massages, that he had thanked her for her tea, that he had kissed the back of her hand, that he had called her beautiful.
No. No. No.
And her face turned a deep red color. She looked like a boiling kettle.
"He winked at you?" And Masako laughed, hiding her mouth behind the sleeve of her kimono. "Isn't it possible that something got in his eye? It's good to know that you think he won't wink at you when he's in his right mind, but that reason alone doesn't mean you can intuit that he's possessed."
"B-but, but," she began, now blushing with embarrassment. "Please John! Throw holy water at him!" she pleaded. "He's really acting weird."
John, who had a clear doubt on his face, was surprised when he saw Naru behind Mai.
"Don't even think about it," he told him, addressing him. "And you, Mai," supporting his hands on her shoulders. Was he going to massage her? "Bring tea and stop saying clear stupidities about my person."
With that said, she went downcast. Feeling very embarrassed. She really wasn't imagining it. Naru was flirting with her, acting very attentive, romantic. Agh! Strange.
When she brought the tea and served it to the guests, she noticed that her boss was no longer there.
"And Naru?" she asked, looking around.
"He's in the office," Ayako replied. Mai trembled, knowing she would be alone with him for at least a minute in that room.
Seeing that everyone was acting normally, she realized that no one believed her, because Naru only acted differently when he was alone with her.
She gently knocked on the door and heard her boss say "Come in." She entered nervously and placed the tray on the table, taking out the cup of tea, which spilled briefly when Naru brushed her hand, gently touching the tips of her fingers.
"Thank you, Mai," he said, smiling slightly.
The addressed one, unaccustomed to such displays of affection, blushed from head to toe that she almost fainted. Feeling a tingling all over her skin.
She looked at him so intently and for a long time as he drank his tea that he provocatively asked her if she wanted some. A proposal that scandalized Mai, after all, that would be an indirect kiss.
"There's still tea in the kitchen," she replied, making an excuse and moving away from the contact, quickly leaving there.
Why wasn't he scolding her? Why wasn't he answering her coldly? Why wasn't he forcing her to work?
She wondered, her heart pounding against her chest. It's not that she was a masochist, but this Naru was giving her the creeps.
