Work Text:

A soft, cool wind whispered outside the window of the castle. Waddle clung to the sleeping, toned form of Xemnas… Despite the boy’s shuddering gasps and trembling hands, the older man slept on, blissfully unaware of his partner’s nightmare. It was Waddle’s seventh month with the child, and he couldn’t have been more terrified. Often in his dreams, he was locked away somewhere, strapped down to a hospital bed or immobilized in a lab. The details may change, but the endless, resounding feeling in the pit of his stomach was always the same.
He had no control here. This was hell.
Like these nightmares always went, Waddle let out a guttural scream from so deep within his core that it couldn't be real. Down, in the core of his body, he could feel the muscles and membranes of his abdomen beginning to split open. It felt like his stomach was tearing itself apart as the wings of a dragon-like Nobody broke free through his skin. Blood erupted out of Waddle as he quickly began to panic, chest heaving and gasping for air as his diaphragm was torn and poor heart was sent racing, causing the blood to drain from him faster.
He was beginning to see dark spots clouding his vision as his child finally freed itself, crawling out of him cold and carelessly as if it was unaware of the pain, or simply uncaring of what was becoming of its parent. Waddle could feel his body collapse as the monster pulled itself free, its tail ripping apart what meager flesh and viscera had remained of his abdomen. Disemboweled and unable to even cry out anymore, the young man lay bleeding out on the cold linoleum floor as the child suddenly turned towards him, opening its grinning, teeth filled mouth-

The sound of an alarm clock broke Waddle free, relieving the young man of his nightmare. With a choked gasp, he blinked and saw Xemnas attempting to silence it and likely breaking it in the process. The boy closed his eyes again and turned to face him, letting Xemnas place a gentle kiss on his cheek, and a careful hand on his swollen stomach.
His voice was unusually soft when it came to his partner, and he smiled as he saw Waddle begin to truly wake up.
“How did you sleep, my love?” The Nobody asked, still unaware of his partner’s horrific night.
After a tense silence, Waddle sighed and slowly spoke up.
“I… I had the worst nightmare ever.. What if our child is some sort of monster?” What if- What if I don’t make it-”
“Sweetheart,” Xemnas held a finger to the boy’s mouth. “Do you truly think I would allow that to happen?” He gently shushed his partner, and began to rub his abdomen. “I’ll have Vexen examine you tomorrow if you’re truly that terrified of our child.”
Waddle let out a nervous laugh, trying to lighten the mood.
“I’d prefer it if you took me to an actual, licensed doctor.. I’m not sure if I feel too comfortable with Vexen poking at me…taking blood and piss samples while you watch.”

For what might have been the second or third time in his life, Xemnas let out a laugh, at least from what Waddle could remember.
“I suppose you indeed have a point, my love. We may have to go incognito, but I will see to it that you receive the best care..”
He ran a hand through Waddle’s brown hair. “This, I promise you.”
