(POV: Alex)
It was the first day of freshman year, and I walked into homeroom going to an empty seat. The seat happens to be next to these two loud girls who won’t stop yapping. All I can hear is the blond one talking the brunette’s head off.
I hear them missing each other and apparently, there’s a redhead twink in the corner? Wait! I’m in the corner! And they apparently didn’t realize I have been in their classes for like 3 years now. I play Minecraft on my computer until the teacher speaks up and gets the class silent.
“Class, I am Mr. Martinez, but you can all call me Mr. M,” he starts. “I’m going to go around the classroom and have everyone introduce themselves and tell one interesting fact about themselves.”
The first person to go is the brunette girl, “I- um… my name is Elizabeth and I don't like sweet foods.” Next the blond one volunteers to go.
“My name's Calista, and I have about 670,000 hairs on my head” she says. A few more people are called on only for it to be my turn now. “My name’s Alex, and my fun fact is that I don't like school.” I then go back to playing Minecraft finding this whole situation embarrassing. Once everyone is finished there are about five minutes left of homeroom. I try to ignore the two girls but it's hard with how loud they're talking.
After an agonising five minutes, the bell rings ending homeroom. I make my way to my core one, Math 2.
I walk into the classroom, and a setting chart is on the board. Behind me, I can hear these two, different girls, flirting with each other. Eavesdropping on them more, I learn one is Kathrine and the other is Jade.
The teacher, Ms. Whitley, introduced herself and had us go around introducing ourselves, which meant more fun facts. After everyone goes we are given the last ten minutes for free time to meet everybody. I thought I could play games the rest of the time only for Elizabeth from homeroom to go over to Jade and Kathrine followed by Calista. I look back at the girls and it looks like Elizabeth might start crying.
“Are you okay?” I ask her
“I’m fine.” She answered. “ I heard your name but I can't remember. It's uhh Alex, right?”
“Yeah, that's my name,” I reply. “And you're Liz? I heard the blond one calling you that.”
“Elizabeth.” she quickly corrects. “Sorry, my bad,” I say, only to be interrupted by the blond girl. “Oooo, Liz you're talking with the twink from homeroom.”
“I am not a twink.” I retort my face getting red tint. “That's what they all say.” she teases. “Calista, leave him alone,” Elizabeth says.
The bell rings ending core 1 and u let out a sigh of relief leaving to head to my core 2.
