Damn Your Love, Damn My Lies

Summary:

Ex has always watched, he was pretty sure that was his purpose in life? Almost like those watchers as the other players he heard would call them. But this time it seems his watching leads him down a decorating frenzy.

Or Ex sees Xisuma trying to decorate and is also sleep deprived and decides to help secretly.

Work Text:

Ex watched, he always did. Even if the derp of his brother never noticed, even if millions of eyes were on him. Maybe he had gotten it from his fellow evil clone. Sometimes even the two would watch the clones together- bored? annoyance? worry? Ex wasn't exactly sure what drove them to watch- to feel but its something they do- maybe it brings them comfort- or maybe they can't deny it anymore.

They are lonely.

There's the sound of frantic moving around from the temple that Xisuma called his base. Lights, reefs, and other decor being sloppily hanged up. He could faintly hear mumbling coming from Xisuma as he strung another set of lights,"Meeting, right yes I need to do that-Oh and-" Xisuma mumbles.

They watch as the admin stumbles into what Ex believes was the room Xisuma did all his admin work in- the admin room correct? He was gone. He didn't see Ex watching.

Ex could do anything. Now that he could do anything-anything... There's a small voice in his head-one that's so-too familiar. He knew what it wanted, normally he'd just ignore it but for some sort of reason he listened to it, climbing down from the tree.

That he sat on, he was pretty sure it was build by one of the hermits- Jevin, and broke down Xisuma's door.

It made a loud thump as it falls. They hoped Xisuma had not heard it all. After a moment of being frozen, they scurry in. Bending down next to a shulker labeled Christmas. There were still lights and other decor left in the box. Ex glances around, scanning the room for what was already put up. It had been a long time since Ex had put Christmas decor up- really any holiday decor up.

There just wasn't any reason to put decor in. Why would there be? Especially with being trapped in the endless void. Honestly, everything in Ex's opinions was pointless- Maybe that just came from being trapped or denial- no everything is pointless and Ex is sure of it.

There was a half decorated Christmas tree in the corner of the room along with a box of ornaments and some random decor scattered around the bottom of the tree. There were colorful lights hanged up on walls through they weren't turned on nor straight.

He sighs before reaching down into the shulker next to him, pulling out a small globe. It looked- it looked like the void. Purple water with different shades of purple glitter swirling in beautiful patterns like a galaxy. Their eyes go wide at the sight of it before gently putting it down on the fireplace. His hands brush the glass before he pulls away from it, shaking his head.

There's some small other decor that needed to be placed around the room, procrastinating fixing the lights- and the tree, right that would need some fixing up as well. He groans as he runs out of things to place and glares at the lights like it would do something.

A part of him- the more rational one in Ex's opinion tells him to just leave it, it was the derps problem anyway, Everything here was and he should be thanking him for even coming in here and putting up any decor.

Yet once again that little voice wins another fight again, and he wished he knew why-but he didn't and he most likely never would. Would he?

Maybe he was doing this to look good- no, maybe he wanted to give Xisuma a sense of safety, of comfort, of easiness then he would- no that wasn't it either, why couldn't he just figure it out. Angry sparks in him, his eyebrows furrowing in annoyance. The thoughts quickly start spiraling and they just wanted them to stop-to just stop. To stop making them think, to stop this ache in their heart.

Distraction.

He needed a distraction and one fast. He sighs, taking a deep breath before exhaling and turning towards the uneven lights. He takes his time as he unhooks the lights and untangles the couple knots that he found in it, all while trying to block out and ignore the spiraling thoughts that were so loud and angry.

Before also taking their time to re hook each of the light strings in a neater and straighter fashion then it was before. They follow the string till they get to the switch, gently flicking it on and taking a step back to admire their work.

The lights- they were beautiful, what a strange word to use. Ex never used words like those. The lights glowed, he sighs, frowning again. A shiver goes up his spine.

He could feel the cold starting to numb his body. Trying to take over. He shakes his head, he had to keep going. He tries to he honestly did. He dug through the box again.

Trying to help more, trying to ignore the pain that would not leave him alone. There were small little window stickers- those were what they were called right?

Decorated in shapes and things the hermits all loved. It was honestly… kinda of adorable- adorable another strange word. He sticks them gently on the window, pushing them down so they wouldn't fall.

Before pausing. This one… why did this one contain him and the derp? Why… would the derp have such a thing. No.. this has to be untrue. He drops the sticky, his breathing picking up before he shakes his head.

Calm down, calm down, its alright. He gives another glance at the window, the sun was coming up, casting long rays of sunlight of the server. Telling everyone and everything to start their day or to sleep.

Oh- he had to go, glancing towards it had told him one and only one thing, he had over stayed his stay. He had to go before the derp or even worse the derps players caught him here.

He pauses as he spots the Christmas tree in the corner, still undecorated. The derp- No Xisuma could handle that right? It was one thing. With a reluctant sigh Ex heads for the door, putting it back up on his way out.

No one would notice the weirdly placed door-surely they won't. Ex turns back to the base one last time, letting out another sigh and returning to the forest as the world became alive around him.
