Work Text:
Loneliness breeds desire, cloaked in grief
Starlight seems through the cracks, momentary relief
The lights, red and black, dance in their eyes
Unknowing, or, rather, uncaring, they chase their demise.
Sunlight floods an empty birdcage, a lonesome tune drones nearby,
In the space between the two, fire flies.
Lighting up the endless dark, strings hum with eagerness
Yet solitude, stark against mellow indifference, awaits, meager.
Everpresent.
Sparks fly under restless fingers,
Untied shoelaces, lost souls.
Where there should be two eyes, two white holes
The perpetrator lurks on an unholy throne,
An unfortunate love that will make itself known.
In a crossing of wires, eyes burn brighter
Never ceasing, pain is mere kerosene for the fire.
Lovesick ballads make them dire,
An effigy burns atop the pyre
Sapphires and emeralds specked with scars,
Shining dimly for each other from afar
Records will spin and rumors will fly,
Crows will caw and a cold heart will thaw
Sapphire hair will part the rye and not get caught,
While the emerald other is nothing less than distraught
But clouds will pass and waves will crash,
The silently warring factions will clash
It's not violent, it's relief.
A dismissal of any predisposed grief
For even the smallest flame can grow from ashes,
What's a dead flame when you have a match?
