Gregory started his morning, jolting awake and gasping for air, pacifier falling from his mouth. The nightmare from his unconsciousness still held a firm grip on him. He kept seeing the bots, tearing Freddy into pieces before the dancing rabbit known as Vanny began approaching him, knife ready. It always ends with him being cornered by her and the other animatronics before the knife lunges into his face.
As he tried to recover from his nightmare, he checked his surroundings, making sure he wasn’t still at the pizzaplex. He looked around and saw his normal, small closet-like bedroom. He noticed the pacifier on his lap and the stuffed animals and toys messily thrown about. He must’ve regressed last night, he concluded.
He started to move his legs to stretch when he realized a cold wetness around his lap.
“No, no, no! Not again!” He whined and threw up his blankets. He had wet the bed, again.
Lately, when he would regress, he would have some difficulties with holding his bladder, especially at night. Sometimes he didn’t even need to regress at all for it to happen at night. But all his daytime accidents happened whenever he was small.
Suddenly, he heard Freddy start to boot up, his battery completely charged.
“Good morning, Superstar!” Freddy greeted him with a smile. Gregory quickly pulled the covers back on his lap, trying to hide his accident. It was embarrassing. He was 12 years old! He shouldn’t still be having these troubles.
“Is something wrong, Gregory?” Freddy asked.
“N-nothing! I’m all good! Just forgot I regressed last night is all,” Gregory lied, trying to get out of talking about this. But Freddy didn’t believe him and started to scan him.
“Hey, wait!”
“Scan complete. You appear to be experiencing high levels of stress and an empty bladder which is uncommon for someone who has been asleep for 9 hours,” He said.
Gregory blushed and sighed. He didn’t want to tell Freddy, but the animatronic basically already knew so it wouldn’t really do much if he tried to hide it.
“I…I had another…accident. Just don’t tell Vannessa!” He pleaded. If Freddy had a neck, he’d tilt his head in confusion.
“Why not? If you’ve been having multiple, it is wise to consult an adult about this,” He said.
“It's just… It’s embarrassing. I don’t wanna wear diapers either. I’m a big kid!” Gregory stressed, hugging himself. Freddy felt bad and wished he could give the child a hug.
“I see… I won’t tell Vanessa about it, but I strongly advise you do,” He said.
“Thanks Freddy. I’ll think about it,” Gregory told him.
The boy shifted uncomfortably before standing up from his bed. After getting changed, he stripped the bed and gathered his damp clothes. Then he peeked outside, trying to determine where Vanessa would be. He was usually very good at sneaking around, but he knew he could easily get caught in this small apartment.
Vanessa seemed to be having a cup of coffee while scrolling through her phone in the kitchen. Seeing a clear path to the laundry room, he made his way over there. Unfortunately, while he was walking, his foot stepped on a loose corner of the blanket and tripped. He fell to the hardwood floor, trying to avoid making any sign of pain.
Vanessa immediately turned around and saw Gregory on the floor with a heap of blankets and sheets in his hands. She rushed over to him and knelt down.
“You okay, kiddo?” She asked.
“I’m fine, I just tripped.” He excused. Vanessa was about to help him up when she smelled something coming from his sheets. It wasn’t repulsive, just a weird scent. Then she came to realize that he had his sheets in his hands and grew a bit suspicious. Why was he changing his sheets first thing in the morning? And why was he being sneaky about it.
“What’re you doing?” She asked.
“Just changing my sheets out, you know,” He said with a nervous smile. The fact that he was doing any kind of laundry was already suspicious. The kid barely knew how to wash his clothes and was already so used to wearing them dirty from living on the streets that he sometimes forgot to wash them.
“Why don’t I get that for you and you grab something to eat?” Vanessa offered.
“No!” Gregory blurted out. Vanessa raised an eyebrow, concerned to why he yelled like that, “I uh… I can handle it.”
Vanessa sighed and looked down, trying to think of a response. She wanted Gregory to be more open with her. She knew he didn’t trust her very much, but she was trying hard. Vanny had traumatized this kid and she needed to help him.
“Listen, Gregory. I know you don’t exactly trust me fully, but I’m here for you. Whatever you need, I’ll try my best to help,” assured Vannessa.
Gregory looked down, avoiding eye contact as he debated what he should do. Would Vanessa make fun of him? No, she was fine with his regression and was even his caregiver. But she could possibly be weirded out by this and not want anything to do with it. He’d be making it awkward for all of them. But Vanessa said she would try to help out and that she was there for him. And she was his caregiver. Caregivers were supposed to be non-judgemental.
“I…” He stood there, trying to find a way to say this without it being awkward or embarrassing.
“I’ve been having accidents…” He mumbled softly. He squeezed his eyes shut, not ready to see Vanessa’s reaction. But to his surprise, he was engulfed in a big warm hug.
“I’m glad you told me, kid. This is probably a scary thing to talk about,” Vanessa told him, “How often are these happening?”
“Umm…usually when I regress, especially if I sleep when small,” He answered.
Vanessa had a soft, gentle expression on her face filled with sympathy. The poor kid was dealing with a lot.
“Alright. Thanks for telling me, Gregory. Why don’t I put these in the washing machine and then when I go out today, I’ll pick you up some protective briefs, alright?” She said, not wanting to make him feel embarrassed by saying diapers. Gregory nodded and gave her another hug. He was so glad to have her as a caregiver.
When the hug was done, Vanessa grabbed the sheets and threw them in the wash. She washed her hands and then sat back down at the table with Gregory. They talked for a little while, acting like nothing had happened until the washing machine was eventually done. Vanessa got up and put them in the dryer before getting ready to leave.
They were running low on groceries and soap so the sooner she could get to the store the better. She promised Gregory she’d only be gone for an hour before she headed out.
However, while Vanessa was gone, Gregory had started to slip into littlespace. He had quite a bit of separation anxiety and felt really stressed when she was taking a little longer than usual. But Freddy made sure to help guide him into safely regressing.
Gregory carried Freddy along with some of his toys into the living room and started playing quietly while he waited for his mama to come back. Freddy had tried to keep him distracted whenever he got anxious about being away from her. His words of encouragement and praise definitely helped.
After about an hour and a half, Vanessa returned. She brought in a couple bags of groceries and about 3 boxes of pull-ups and tape diapers. The store was having a major sale on all Fazbear entertainment merchandise and luckily, they sold child protective undergarments with prints and designs of all the Fazbear cast.
“Nessa!” Gregory got up from his spot on the floor and ran up to Vanessa as she walked in.
“Hey, bud! I got you a couple things while I was out,” She said, walking in and placing the boxes and bags on the counter. She showed Gregory the boxes of protective undergarments, hoping he’d like the design.
“The store was having a sale so I figured you’d prefer these over the boring plain ones,” She said. Gregory didn’t admit it, but he found them really cute. Despite having a lot of trauma at the Pizzaplex, he loved their merchandise.
“How about you try them on? I can help?” Vanessa suggested. Gregory whined though. He was a big boy! Big boys didn’t need diapers.
“Bu i’m a big kiddd,” He whined.
“I know, buddy, but even big kids need these sometimes,” She assured him, petting his head. He grumbled a little but complied only if Vanessa helped him.
She let him pick out what kind he wanted and led him into the bathroom. It took her a while to get it done. She almost had to call Freddy and have him give her guidance on how to tape a diaper but she figured it out eventually. Once it was all taped up, she helped him put on his pajama pants and they walked back into the living room.
The rest of the afternoon, Vanessa and Gregory played with trucks and dinosaurs and stuffed animals. They had some quiet time as well where Gregory drew pictures with his crayons while Vanessa got dinner started.
He didn’t feel worried about having an accident and making a mess. A lot of his anxieties melted away. But he did feel a little bad when got changed right after he had his first accident. He felt as if he was wasting Vanessa’s money by not getting the most out of it. But that was a thought for another time.
