Snow balls and Fun times

Summary:

Jack just teasing Bunny a few months after defeating Pitch.

Notes:

This is actually my first ever fanfic! Thought I'd write it about my favorite animated movie!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“Bloody git.”

Bunny gritted his teeth as he dusted the freshly splattered snow off of his coat. Damn bugger just barging into his warren. All it took was begrudging permission to stop by for a visit or two to have the frosty pain in the arse wanderin’ around like he owned the bloody place! Speaking of Jack..

“Oi! Get off ma golems! They ain’t some piece of furniture, Frostbite.”

Jack, after sprinkling snow all over Bunny and, by fault, the mesh grass, happily retreated to laze on top of one of the stone eggs. Pillowing himself with the moss overing the stones, he kicked back with his hands behind his head, his crook balanced across his waist.

Today had been a good day. Nothing to interrupt Jack’s good mood. He spent some time playing around with Jaime and his friends, spread some snow across the few towns near by, even helped Sophie draw up some new pictures. All of which featured a certain anthropomorphic oversized bunny rabbit.

And wasn’t that just a pleasant reminder that he hasn’t seen Bunny in a good while. Hadn’t seen any of the guardians for that matter, but he wasn’t focusing on that right now. Not when his favorite was glaring daggers at him. Jack could feel it. Even with his eyes closed!

“I just thought you could use some snow to chill out, Cottontail!”

Jack did reluctantly open his eyes to look down at Bunny. Arms crossed with a scowl on his face, trying to be menacing. Key word: trying. His nose was scrunched up like Jack was some kind of bad smell. The sight just made him let out a few laughs.

He swung his feet over the side of the mossy hairdo to get a better angle to see the grumpy Aussie. He grabbed his crook with a smile and propped it up against the stone giant to lean his head on it. A strand of white locks fell in front of his face as he gave Bunny a charming smile.

“Relax Bunny. It’s just some snow. And look! It’s already melted away.”

Jack gestured to the puddle formed from the melted sprinkling of snow as Bunny stomped one of his paws angrily. Okay. Not even Jack could deny that wasn’t cute.

“Yer still loungin’ on ma golems. Off, Jack. Before I get up there and pull you down meself.”

Bunny took a step closer, arms moving from his chest to his hips like a disappointed mom. Jack only let out another laugh and stood up, balancing his crook on the egg shaped golem before jumping onto it like a graceful dancer. If that dancer had the help of sentient wind to make it seem like he was weightless. Jack narrowed his eyes with a grin as he gestured to the golem he had chosen to take up temporary residency on.

“It’s not like he actually care. But fine. I’ll just go find somewhere else to lounge on. Catch me if you can, Bunny!”

Bunny’s eyes widened as Jack hopped off, grabbing his stick, and gracefully hopping from wall to wall until he was around a corner and out of sight. Bunny let out a snort, but it had more fondness than annoyance, which has definitely been a new feeling, but not.. completely unwelcomed. Bunny shook his head slightly as he shifted down on all fours, catching Jack’s scent easily.

“Haven’t I told you not to race a rabbit, mate?”

He said to no one in particular before bounding off in racing speeds around the corner to catch up to the cold pest.

Look, this wasn’t Jack’s smartest decisions. Fun, yes. Smart? No. Especially because Bunny knew this place better than Jack knew himself. Who, at the moment, was panting in a small crevasse near the top of some cavern. Bunny nearly came barreling into him a few times while he was running around, and he personally didn’t really want to get caught. Good thing he finally found that new resting spot. Just when Jack let his head knock against the wall, the padding of heavy paws echoed from below him.

“Mate, I told ye before bout racing a rabbit. Bad decision. Come out, Jackie. Not like I don’t know yer here.”

Jack gripped his crook tighter before poking his head out at the rabbit. Who was staring directly at him. Jack rolled his eyes as he jumped from the crack, sliding down the wall and landing on the soft grace below. He gave Bunny a boyish smile as he sauntered over to him.

“Come onnn. Couldn’t let me win just this once?”

Bunny raised a bushy eyebrow.

“No.”

Jack’s face fell with a small frown before sticking his tongue out like a child. Bunny rolled his eyes and picked Jack up by the hood of his hoodie. Jack, successfully startled, let out a yelp and tried to swat Bunny’s hand away. Bunny, to his disappointment, didn’t even flinch as he tapped his paw on the ground a few times. A tunnel opened up right below where he was holding Jack before dumping him into it.

“Next time, don’t try turnin’ me into a popsicle and using my golems as chairs!”

The tunnel throw Jack out onto the snowy ground near his lake, the December weather perfect for him. He sat up with a groan, dusting off the snow from his hair and hoodie with a frown.

“Dumb Bunny, always complaining. It wasn’t even that much snow!”

He huffed like a petulant child as he moved to stand up. The lake had frozen back over in early November, and animals had started their hibernation even earlier. The snow shined like diamonds on the ground, crunching beneath his barefoot feet as he walked towards his favorite tree.

He scampered up it to the biggest branch and leaned back against the trunk, still grumbling about how his fun was ruined.

Notes:

Not the best, but I plan to add more chapters. When I get better at writing, I'm coming back to fix it up a bit! Also, if anyone is interested, I'm writing my own story with my own characters and world I've been thinking about posting.
