"We prepared for this," Leon said as calmly as he could as he looked into Claire's eyes, his hands gripping her shoulders firmly. She caught her breath as her balled hands tightened their grasp on his hideous Christmas sweater.
"I know," she said, her wide blue eyes reflecting the twinkling lights from behind Leon. "But was a week enough?! I feel like I've forgotten everything." Her head shot to the left, staring over the row of new kitchen appliances. "There's just so much to remember... I... oh God, we're going to ruin our baby girl's engagement party!! And Christmas!!!"
Leon pulled her into a strong hug. "We have the equipment we need. We have it all written down. We. Can. Do. This!!" Claire paused before shaking her head.
"No... Jake trusted us and we're gonna end up poisoning everyone!" Claire lamented. Leon released the hug and put his hand under Claire's chin, raising her face to meet his.
"No!! We'll get through this!" He leaned forward and kissed her firmly but gently. "I promise."
Claire breathed in deeply then released the breath. "Ok," she said with a small nod. "Ok. We can do this. Yes..."
The two ended their embrace and then stared at the ingredients on the kitchen counter. Claire hesitantly picked up a spatula, looked at it for a second, then set it back down and grabbed a whisk instead.
She turned helplessly to Leon for guidance only to watch him pick up an egg and immediately drop it to the ground.
