falling...
in love?
or into a hole i can't escape?
"Hey," a voice sounded from behind Charlie Morningstar. The princess of hell immediately recognized it as her crush best friend, Vaggie. Charlie made no move to face Vaggie, keeping her eyes trained on some buildings in the distance.
"Hey, Vaggie."
"How're you doing?"
"I'm okay."
"You sure??"
"Yeah!" Charlie forced a smile onto her face, turning to meet Vaggie's gaze at last. "I'm doing great!!"
"Just... having one of those days?" Vaggie prompted, coming to stand next to Charlie.
"I..." Charlie let her vision trail back to the distant buildings. "Yeah, I guess." There was a pause, as the two stood there, just existing in each other's company. "Do you... ever get that feeling?" Charlie asked slowly, hesitantly, nervously. "That feeling where no one actually cares? Not your parents, family, friends... And it's just you, and maybe your pets, against the whole world? And... you're all alone..?"

"Yeah," Vaggie admitted, "sometimes."
There was a moment of silence.
"But... you just gotta push through, y'know?" Vaggie continued. "And if you ever feel like this again, know that at least I love you."
in love?
"Yeah, I guess," Charlie murmured. They didn't love each other the same way. Charlie knew it was impossible.
"No," Vaggie said sharply, catching Charlie's attention, and the princess of hell glanced over at the women she could never have. "I love you. Okay??"

Charlie smiled weakly, dispersing any thoughts she had. "O-Okay."
The two women stood there, on the balcony of the Happy Hotel, watching the flames lick cars full of screaming people, and Vaggie lay her head on Charlie's shoulder, and within the chaos, a spark, maybe not enough to kindle a love, but it was definitely there, and sometimes just being there is enough, it's a start.
