Summary
Lieutenant Commander Data and fellow crew members find themselves displaced from their own reality and struggling to find a way back home.
Shortly before the accident, Data made a breakthrough discovery that he possesses innate android emotions, previously overlooked in his quest to be more human. Data must grapple with his new awareness of these mental states, adding to a program he has been writing to evoke human-style emotional responses as he interprets their meanings over time.
The alternative universe crew of the Enterprise provides ample opportunity for Data to explore his feelings in general, and about his best friend in particular.
