Work Text:

Charlie kirk had always believed that if you rehearsed something enough in your head, your body would follow. That belief was the only reason he was even here in utah ragebaiting random college students in the first place He hadn't really went over the plan with that many people other than Tyler (the one to actually carry this out) and all he really said was to recreate that one danganronpa scene where hajime gets shot and the bullet just shyly hits his cheek, it was gonna be insane aura bru

"Counting or not counting gang violence?" He had asked a man in the crowd.

The shot came first. A sharp interruption. Charlie’s brain stalled, trying to think of how to dodge it correctly, and in that pause he did nothing at all, he was supposed to dodge the bullet.. it was supposed to only graze his cheek!!

Of course it plunged straight into his neck instead and now people were suddenly screaming their heads off.. Or maybe they were just talking loudly. He couldnt really make it out other then the odd "CHARLIE" being thrown around here and there, and he was barely even conscious enough to make out the faces now hovered above him, panicked and worried. Someone told him to stay awake. Someone else told someone else to call for help, as if help wasn’t already on the way. Shit was on live after all gng 💔💔

He had always be known to just become frozen when things went wrong, In arguments, In emergencies, In relationships yada yada He would stand there thinking about the perfect thing to say or do to inflict the perfect ragebait on these silly libtards, But he thought this time he wouldve just dodged it.. not froze!?!? he had been practicing it for weeks!!

The ambulance ride blurred into a single long sound. Sirens, or it was just his own pulse echoing in his ears. He truly was dieing wasnt he..?

He thought about how easily he had convinced himself that imagining an outcome counted as preparing for it. How often he had lived in future versions of himself that never arrived. He had always believed he would become decisive at the exact moment decisiveness was required.

Utah receded into memory. Not dramatic. Not symbolic. Just a place where something irreversible had happened under an ordinary sky. He would always associate that shade of blue wit the moment his beliefs failed him.

He had forgotten to dodge the bullet.
