"Number 8...Number 8...Number 8!" Pure Vanilla searched for his dorm and roommate, "with...Shadow Milk... sounds oddly familiar..." he whispered under his breath.
"Who'd you get—?" Strawberry Crepe asked, peeking over his shoulder.
"A guy named Shadow Milk—I feel like I know him from somewhere..." he trailed off.
"Mom—I promise you I don't need all of this. A shower caddy...? Really?"
"It was on the list, Vanilla, just take it! And don't forget your glasses!"
"Okay, okay-!" He took the plastic bags from his mother's hands.
His dorm was rather nice, close to the showers, and didn't have an odd smell like the dorms at his old college. Once his family had left, he flopped down on the bottom bunk of the bed, with a tired sigh. He gets barely a moment of quiet before the door swings open, startling him. In the doorway is a bright but messy young man, around Pure Vanilla's age. He held a large bag full of supplies, his glasses askew on his face, nearly falling off.
"Uh—sorry, I'm a bit of a mess—" he said, pushing the door shut with his foot. "My name's—" Shadow Milk finally looked up and met Pure Vanilla's gaze, recognition carving silence.
Pure Vanilla quickly got up and started grabbing Shadow Milk's bags, placing them on the floor while the taller man stood still.
"Pure Vanilla"
"Shadow Milk" They blurted at the same time.
Pure Vanilla was pulled into a very tight hug, his feet lifted off the floor, he gave an almost childish giggle. "I missed you—"
"Never thought I'd see my 4th grade 'girlfriend' here in college of all places," he chuckled, still holding Pure Vanilla
Pure Vanilla had a fond smile on his face "Well, if it was now, I'd be your boyfriend"
"New name too—?"
Pure Vanilla shook his head.
