Work Text:
It had been a gruelling day. All of the boys were still going only by sheer willpower and stubbornness. Finally in the van to go back home, their thoughts were filled with hot showers and a good warm meal. Dylan, slightly grumpy from the lack of sleep and overall muscle ache, wanted nothing more than a shower and sleep, food be damned.
“I call...” Dylan started during a moment of silence in the van.
“Call dibs for the shower!!!” screamed Nano, cutting Dylan without a care.
“Second!” Thame then exclaimed.
“Third,” said Peper.
“Well, last, I guess...” said Jun, too tired and distracted to even care.
Dylan didn't even have the time to react as his precious first spot was ripped away from him, leaving him to shower last. Dylan was going to murder Nano. It was the only way. The others would be too into panic mode to notice him slipping into the shower (that he would need even more then, depending on how bloody it ended up being). He must've made a face that said “I'm plotting to murder one of my members so I can shower first,” because Jun looked at him weird. Jun always looked at him weird. Maybe he should murder Jun instead. Yeah, but then who would make him coffee in the morning? Not Thame, who was too busy fussing over Po, not Peper, who was in the house once every blue moon, and most definitely not Nano, who couldn't operate the coffee maker to save his life. So Jun had to live. Oh well, Nano it was.
“You good, Dyl?” Jun had asked him, but Dylan was too into his head to notice.“Hey, Dyl! Are you alright?” Jun asked again, shaking his shoulder this time.
“I wasn't going to murder him for real!” Dylan blurted, startled by Jun's hand on him. Feels warm, kinda nice. Mmh, another reason not to murder him, I guess.
“Murder who? Dylan, what is happening with you? Are you sure you're good?” Jun was starting to get slightly worried by the obvious display of bloodthirst that Dylan usually mostly kept to himself.
“No one! Definitely not Nano! Or you! Or! Or!... I should stop talking, right?” Dylan answered, not panicking at all obviously.
“Hmhm, yes, that could be a thing to do Dyl,” Jun said deadpan.
“I'm tired, don't bully me.”
“You said you wanted to murder Nano and me, how is me asking if you're alright bullying?” Jun asked, dumbfounded.
“You're bullying me!”
“I am not!”
“You are! I'm done talking to you now!”
Then Dylan turned his head away, pouting like a kid that got told he couldn't have ice cream for breakfast. So cute. “I want to bite his cheek” kind of cute. Definitely not what Jun wanted to do at the moment.
The moment they arrived, Nano ran and locked himself into the bathroom. The other two went to put their stuff away while Jun got started on making something for them to eat. Which left Dylan alone, standing in the hallway like a creep, his precious shower taken away. Maybe he could knock the door down. Or, well, have Jun do it at least. Better idea than the murder anyway. So on his way to the kitchen he was.
"I need you to knock the bathroom door down,” Dylan said upon entering the kitchen where Jun was making what looked like fried rice. Oh fucking Lord yes, fried rice. Dylan could've kissed Jun right now, but he was on a mission so now was not the time.
“Huh?!”
“The bathroom door. Knock it down.”
“So you can murder Nano?”
“What? Aaah, that. No, I changed plans. Too messy anyway. Come on, Junie, can you do that for me?” Dylan batted his eyelashes prettily at him, the power move that always got him what he wanted.
“Dyl, I love you, but I'm not knocking the door down.”
“But... but you said you love me...” Dylan was now on the verge of tears. What the hell is happening right now... Jun thought.“I do love you, ok, but why do you need me to kick a door down, hmm?”
“Because it's the only way!”
“Only way to what?” Jun was increasingly confused as Dylan was getting more and more desperate.
“It was supposed to be me! Me!” Dylan was truly starting to tear up now.
“Ok. OK. It was supposed to be you. I'm sorry that it is not. It's ok,” Jun tried to pacify him as best as he could.
There was a long pause, where Jun held his breath, hoping Dylan would calm down. Dylan, on the other hand, was debating whether he now wanted to shower or eat, because the smell of the fried rice was making him salivate.
“You're done with that?”
“Huh?”
“The fried rice. Is it done?”
“Aah, yeah, it should be now. We just have to wait for the boys and then we'll eat.”
Dylan didn't want to wait. He already had to wait to shower, he was not gonna wait for his food. They wanted to take his spot as the first to shower? Fine, then he would take their food. Without thinking much more about it, Dylan made the run for it. He grabbed the spoon next to Jun's hand, the pot next, and ran. He could hear Jun's confused noise but didn't dwell on it. He needed to be fast.
Running in the hallway, he almost collided with Peper who was getting out of his room.“Aaaah! The hell, Dyl?” screamed Peper, clearly confused.
“It's mine now, fuckers!” Dylan screamed back. He then lunged for the first door he could reach. Opened it, got in, closed it as fast as he could. He then looked around. Ah. It was Jun's room. Well, fine. It meant he wouldn't have to dirty his own bed. Win–win situation.
Knock knock.“Dylan? You in there?” Jun’s voice sounded gentle, warm, inviting even. No. Dylan was stronger than this.
“No, not here,” he answered, proud of himself for not folding and opening the door for Jun as soon as he heard his voice.
“Baby... come on. Don't you want to open the door for me?”
“No! You'll try to take it from me if I do!”
“I won't! I promise, baby.”
“You're lying!”
“Dyl... please, baby...”
A pause.
“It's fine, P'Jun, we'll order something, it will be easier. Let Dylan have the fried rice,” Thame said, already texting Po to bring them food.
“Fine. Let's do that.”
“Sure thing, P'.”
Footsteps. Voices in the living room. Victory for Dylan. Now. Shower. He slowly opened the door, making sure no one was there. No one. Perfect. He could make it. Pot and spoon in hand, he got out the door, ready to run to the bathroom.
One. Two. Three. Then dash. Open door. Get in. Close door.Finally. The long-awaited shower. His stunt not only got him a full pot of fried rice, it also distracted the others long enough for him to snag the second place in the bathroom order. Really perfect.
“You really look like the cat who got the cream,” a voice said out of nowhere.
“AAAH WHAT THE FUCK!!” Dylan screamed, falling flat on his butt on the bathroom floor. “Oh my God, Jun, what the hell? Oh Lord, I can feel my soul leaving my body. Good God.” Dylan, who thankfully didn't drop his pot, was now sitting down cross-legged, hand on his chest like a Victorian man seeing an ankle for the first time.
“Dramatic much, huh? So you done with your little stunts?”
“Don't know what you mean.” The pout deepened.
“Of course you don't. Come on, babe, give me the pot back.”
“No! It's mine.”
“Dylan. Please. It's gonna be cold anyway. Don't make me take it by force.”
“You wouldn't dare,” Dylan said, smug and overly confident in the truth of his statement.
Jun let out a big sigh before running a hand through his hair, walking toward Dylan in a way that clearly said, What am I doing with my life, seriously? One second Dylan was cradling the pot like it was his newborn, the next he was thrown over Jun's shoulder, his precious pot no longer in his hands.
“GIVE IT BACK!! GIVE ME MY FRIED RICE BACK!! THIS IS BULLYING!”
“Stop screaming, oh my God...” Jun winced. “Let's make a deal, ok?”
That got Dylan's attention. A deal. That he could work with.
“What kind of deal?” he asked, still wary of Jun's change of heart.
“How about this, I'll put you down, you'll go take a shower and I'll go reheat the fried rice. Deal?”
“You're not gonna eat it without me, right?”
“No, baby, I promise,” Jun sighed.
“If you wash my hair, we have a deal.”
“Dylan...”
“Please? I'm tired,” Dylan slumped even more over Jun's shoulder, whining like a kid.
Jun tried not to be influenced by the pout he could hear but not see. Key word: tried. And failed.
“Fine,” Jun said, putting Dylan down. “Let me go put the pot in the kitchen, I'll be right back.”
“Thank youuuuu!”
Yes, Dylan always got what he wanted. And he was quite proud of it. He finally got rid of his clothes and stepped into the shower, letting the hot water run through his hair and onto his back. He stayed there for a bit, relishing in the warmth and the feeling of the water hitting his skin.
The door then opened, Jun getting in quickly, already taking his shirt off before even having fully stepped into the bathroom. For the next ten minutes, none of them talked. They just enjoyed each other's company, finally relaxing after a long day. Jun kept his promise and washed Dylan's hair, massaging his scalp gently, making him lean further into the touch like the cat he is. Once fully rinsed off, they both got out, taking their sweet time to dry themselves and get dressed with the pajamas that Jun had, thankfully, remembered to take on his way back. They still hadn't talked. Dylan because the tiredness had fully settled after the adrenaline of the mischief had run out, and Jun because he was too busy admiring his sleepy cat of a boyfriend. The silence stretched throughout the meal, peaceful and comfortable. Once the plates were put in the sink and the table cleaned, Jun finally spoke.
“My room or yours?”
“Hmmm.” Dylan was too sleepy to answer properly.
“Ok, that means mine then. Let's go.”
They passed by the living room where the rest of their bandmates and Po were finishing eating the take-out Po had brought over. Goodnights were exchanged, glances shared and knowing smirks seen before the two were back on their way to Jun's bedroom.
Once inside, Dylan, who was plastered to Jun's side, crossed the room in three steps before flopping down on the mattress, a soft “humph” escaping his lips. Jun stared at him like the lovesick puppy he is, taking in the raw beauty of Dylan's bare face, the slope of his nose, his moles, his grey hair tousled by the towel drying. Dylan was beautiful. And Jun was totally objective, thank you very much. The lights were turned off before Jun made his way to the bed, gently guiding Dylan to lay down properly, before climbing into bed next to him.
“Good night, baby.”
“Hmmmm 'night...” Dylan answered while turning to nuzzle farther into Jun's neck, with a deep, content sigh. Jun smiled, tightening his hold on Dylan's waist, then kissing his forehead lightly.
“I love you.”
“Even when I try to steal the fried rice?”
“Hmmm, even when you steal the fried rice.”
