Work Text:
Sua sat quietly on the couch in the living room, reading a book. A blanket was wrapped around her, and there was a faint noise of the birds chirping outside, implying that it is still daytime.
Despite the blanket covering her, a vent sat close to her, by the windows where the couch was placed.
Suddenly, she heard Mizi call out from another room from her: “Sua! What day is it?” Sua heard faint footsteps coming from the hall, preferably Mizi’s. Then, her head popped out by the wall.
Sua was quiet and thought for a moment, “It’s the 22nd, why?” Mizi’s smile widened. “How’d you forget? It’s your birthday, Sua!” Mizi cheered gently. She approached Sua, who had already closed her book and set it on the coffee table near her, and climbed in next to her. Mizi reached and let Sua grab her hand, and squeezed it multiple times, after pressing her soft lips to the back of hand, of course.
“And not only it’s my universe’s birthday, but it’s also already Christmas! That’s why I had an idea on how to spend your birthday and early Christmas with you,” Mizi explained briefly, looking into Sua’s purple eyes. “If it’s just you and I, what’s the idea?” Sua hummed and moved closer to Mizi, who was still looking at her sweetly.
“I say we do a craft of your choice, one we can find here at our house, or we can go out and find one! Your choice because it’s your birthday, universe.” Mizi reached up with her other hand to caress Sua’s cheek lovingly. Sua gave her a reassuring smile in return.
“Help me choose, you know I’m not good at picking at something much,” Sua placed her free hand on Mizi’s hand. Tracing the shape of a flower onto the back of her hand.
“If you agree, let me go find something, I’m sure I have bought some crafts in the past.” Mizi squeezed her hand a final time before her warmth left her somewhat cold hand.
And before Mizi could properly walk into the hallway connecting to their living room, Sua removed the blanket from her, “I’ll come with you, wait for me!” She saw Mizi turn around and let out a giggle. She outstretched her hand and waited for Sua to come over.
“Then let’s search for a craft together, if we don’t find something we wouldn’t like then we can go out looking in stores for one.” Mizi shimmered at the idea, leading Sua to their bedroom before opening a drawer from Mizi’s nightstand and digging through it.
She pulled out a somewhat familiar box, and opened it, revealing little bags of beads, bracelets, strings, and other jewelry probably Mizi had made in the past.
Honestly, she had to admit Mizi loved jewelry, even if she rarely saw her wearing or left alone making it. She searched for a time when she last saw her make a piece of jewelry.
“You can also look around in the box if you’d like, I don’t mind really,” Mizi said, her hands being removed from the box and she looked at Sua, waiting for her to look to the box as well for more details. Sua hesitated and thought at a moment, before nodding and pulled out a bag of little floral beads.
She held it close to her eye, and inspected it accordingly. The beads were no regular flower, they were little Clematis. She nearly gasped, “Oh my gosh! Mizi, these are beautiful..! Where did you find them?” She was the one smiling big now. Pulling Mizi into a hug, embracing her instantly.
“I knew Clematis were one of your favorite flowers, as you told me that on our first date,” Oh yes, Sua remembered that time when she told Mizi she loved Clematis. “So I thought it wouldn’t be a bad idea to search out online for some little Clematis beads. I was planning to give the beads to you as a present for your birthday or Christmas, but it seems like you found it early.” She chuckled lightly, playing at the ends of Sua’s short hair.
Sua set down the pack of beads on the bed, and pulled her closer than before. “I love you so much, my gorgeous universe.” Sua half-whispered into her ear. “I love you too, Sua, so much.”
After a while of sitting there together, they parted and Mizi pressed her lips to not her hand this time, but the middle of her cheek. “So, I’m assuming you’d like to use the Clematis beads?” Mizi smiled.
“Yes! Make one with me too.” Sua pleaded. Mizi chuckled, “I will, I will.” Sua grabbed the pack of Clematis, and Mizi grabbed the strings.
“Thank you for doing this with me, I really enjoyed it, Mizi.” Sua moved the hair blocking her forehead and left a kiss there. “I’m so glad you did, I did as well, lovely.”
They both held out their wrists, showing their matching Clematis bracelets. They couldn’t express the love they had for each other and now these bracelets.
The bracelet that Sua might wear every single day, because it reminds her of Mizi a bunch.
“Before I do forget, I got a gift for you, Sua, stay put, let me get it quickly!” Mizi flew off of their bed, nearly knocking something over, she jogged out into the hallway and it wasn’t long before she returned holding a purple-colored bag with a tag that had Sua's name written on it.
“For me?” Sua asked. “Who else would it be for, silly? It’s only for my universe.” She sat back on the bed next to her, handing the bag to her, to which Sua took after humming a slightly bit.
Mizi tilted her head as strands of her pink hair fell, with the help of Sua, she tucked the hair behind her ear and grinned.
Mizi watched gleefully as she opened the bag, first pulling out a card that read:
“Sua, happy birthday and merry early Christmas, you are my god, my universe, and I love you so much. I hope you enjoy what’s in the rest of this gift”
Sua giggled at the purple-colored hearts at the end. Knowing well that purple was one of her favorite colors, alongside pink and yellow.
She pulled each thing out of the bag, feeling more and more loved and more and more grateful for each gift.
Lastly, there was one more thing, Mizi peeked into the bag and nodded, a shimmer in both of her yellow eyes appeared quickly. And a tiny bit flushed on her cheeks.
The blush matched her hair, and Sua couldn’t think of anything gorgeous than the sight from Mizi herself as a whole.
There was a little lavender-colored box at the bottom of the bag. She felt around at the texture and it felt smooth. Something’s up. Sua couldn’t put her finger on it, but this is absolutely something special and surprising by the way it’s designed and the way that Mizi is acting.
“Before you open it, Sua darling, take a guess on what it could be!” Her fingers played with the ends of Sua’s hair again, and this time she was more flushed.
“I think…” She thought for a moment. “I think it’s something like a Clematis or something else I really have interest in.” It might be painfully obvious that it’s going to be something that Sua would like, but it would not harm if she were to guess that.
“I guess you could say that you like it, go ahead and open it!” Mizi pressed her cheek against Sua’s cheek.
Sua flipped the box’s lid open, and there before her was…
A ring. An actual ring. No, not one Mizi made, but an actual ring.
“Sua, you are the most precious thing that’s ever happened in my life, and I love you so much I can’t express it through just one thing. I hope today is the best birthday you’ve celebrated ever, and I hope you remember this day sincerely. Thank you so, so, so much for being a part of my life and being my universe. Remaining by my side, supporting and loving me for who I am. And finally, Sua, my love, would you like to marry me?”
“Mizi. Mizi, oh, Mizi. Yes, absolutely yes! I love you so much, oh my gosh. Yes, I would love to marry you, please.” Mizi hugged her immediately. Kissed her on the lips many times and pulled her closer as much as possible.
They sat with each other in each other’s arms in a comfortable silence, Mizi swore she heard Sua’s breathing slow and get deeper.
She peeked down at Sua; her eyes were shut and her face while sleeping softened Mizi at the sight. Trying to be as careful as possible, she pulled Sua onto the bed and covered her with the blanket they both shared.
She whispered sweet things into her ear before she reached for the light switch and fell asleep as well. A sweet dream, with her and Sua. And when she wakes, she’ll be the one who she’s engaged to.
