Chapter Text
“Hey Darce, I’ve been meaning to ask you something.”
“Hm?” Darcy looked up from their book. They were reading a text on human biology that they received from Anne’s impromptu Christmas in July some time ago. They had been quite engrossed in it for the past few hours. “What is it, Marcy?”
“Well, you reading this couldn’t help but remind me that my body’s biology isn’t exactly the same anymore, is it?”
“If you’re referring to the replacement organs that were necessary to keep you alive whilst also increasing this body’s physical performance, then yes, your biology is not that of a normal human anymore.”
“I know about those, duh. But I’m talking about the cool sci-fi enhancements. Y’know, stuff like integrated weaponry! Rocket boosters!” She gasped excitedly. “Please tell me you put a chainsword in my arm or something PLEASE!” The Taiwanese girl continued to ramble on for some time.
“Ah.” Darcy chuckled. “We get it now. Sorry to, um, ‘burst your bubble,’ Marcy, but the processes to implement those sorts of upgrades would have been too risky in your body’s critical condition.”
Marcy groaned sadly. She sounded like a disappointed puppy.
“We did add other enhancements, however.”
The ravenette gasped for what felt like the hundredth time in five minutes. “Really? Like what?”
“Well, for starters, we added transmitters in your hands to allow us to interface with our technology. We originally used our own devices, but after we studied your phone, we found that Bluetooth was much more convenient and easier to utilize.”
“Wait. Are you saying that I’m Bluetooth-compatible?” asked Marcy.
“Essentially. Anyways,” continued Darcy, closing their book and laying down, “While studying your phone, we believed that it may have included some vital information, and so we downloaded its data into ourselves.”
“Did you find anything useful?” interrupted Marcy.
“Not in the slightest.” they deadpanned. “Although, we would be lying if we said that we didn’t find the fanfiction written on your phone to be enjoyable.” Darcy felt Marcy’s embarrassment manifest as a heat rising in their cheeks.
Marcy cleared her throat, despite not being in control of her physical body to do so. “Does that mean you have the entire database of my old phone?”
“Yes, and you and us can both access it at our convenience. You can upload the data to any device via touch if you so wish.”
Continuing, Darcy stated that, “We also implemented several eye enhancements.”
“Eye enhancements? But doesn’t wearing a helmet that covers the eyes defeat the purpose of those?” Marcy butted in.
“While that is true, we weren’t intending to always have the helmet. The helmet acted as a catalyst for the Core’s consciousness to inhabit your body. We had planned to fully upload ourselves into your mind and replace you once we had concluded our invasion of Earth, removing the necessity of the helmet beyond an intimidation factor. Of course, that didn’t happen, but our goal was still somewhat achieved, as evident in this conversation .”
Marcy made a “huh” noise. She once again thanked her lucky stars that her now girlfriends had saved her from oblivion. But anyways.
“Could you show me?”
“What?”
Marcy scoffed. “Could you show me what cool upgrades you gave me? Pleeeeeeeeeeease?”
Darcy sighed. They didn’t really know what else they should’ve expected of Marcy at this point.
“Fine,” they conceded while turning their attention back to their biology book, “But after we finish reading. We wish to learn what a normal, unaugmented human body looks like first.”
Marcy groaned. Darcy still had quite a few chapters left, and a few were on topics Marcy didn’t think she wanted to know about yet.
“Fine. But hurry up! You got me excited…”
