Sibling Quarrel

Summary:

Because being able to fight and disagree with each other and still make up in the end is proof that you share a close bond.

A.K.A. just a silly little story about the twins having a silly fight.

Notes:

This kinda spun off into its own thing. Well enjoy I guess. or don't. I can't really force you to do anything. My writing definitely leaves a lot to be desired either way.

Work Text:

“Ouch! That stings”

“Hold still, Mococo, darling,”

“Bau bau...”

Fuwawa watched absentmindedly as Mama Puppy applied a bandage to Mococo’s scratched face, courtesy of Fuwawa herself. Likewise, the elder twin herself had also received a few scratches from her fuzzy sister, which their mom had patched up. Actually, the one on her arm was feeling very itchy at that moment.

“Fuwawa, don’t scratch at the wound–”

Too late. Fuwawa winced at the jolt of pain she got from trying to scratch the wound. Tears gathered at the edge of her eyes.

“See what I mean now?” Mama Puppy shook her head. Soon, she was done patching up Mococo. Standing up, she addressed her two little pups. “Alright, now I think it’s time you two tell me the reason behind your fight?”

Fuwawa was quick on the blame game, of course.

“Mococo started it.”

“WHAET!?”

“Mococo, is this true?”

Mococo shook her head no. “It was Fuwawa’s fault. She ate the last Pon-de-Ring when it was supposed to be mine!”

“Only because you eat so slowly, Moco-chan!”

“Noeh! You just eat too fast!”

“Alright, that’s enough, you two,” Mama Puppy intervened before they could get started again. She crouched down to face them and held both girls’ hands. First, she turned to Fuwawa.

“Fuwawa, I know you like Pon-de-Rings, but that doesn’t mean you should eat your sister’s share.”

“But Moco-chan was taking too long, I thought she didn’t want it.”

“Then you should have at least asked first,” Chided her mother. “How would you feel if Mococo ate your Pon–de-Ring?”

“I would be mad...”

“Exactly,” Mama Puppy smiled at her. “Besides, aren’t you the older sister? You should be the one to share with Mococo. Take care of your younger sister. That’s what cool older sisters do after all!”

“Okay!” Fuwawa nodded energetically. “I’m a cool older sister!”

“What part is supposed to be cool?” Mococo mumbled to herself. Mama Puppy turned to look at the fuzzy pup.

“Now, Mococo,” Mama Puppy started. “I know you’re mad, but that doesn’t mean you should go around hurting other people, okay? Especially with your claws.”

“That’s right, Moco-chan,” Fuwawa tried to join in. Unfortunately for her, Mama Puppy shot that down.

“Hush, Fuwawa. I know it was in self-defense, but you also used your claws. You’re just little pups now, but in the future, when you grow up, those claws of yours can seriously hurt someone. You wouldn’t want that now, would you?”

“No, Bau bau...”

“Now that you understand what you both did wrong, what are you supposed to do now?”

Fuwawa looked at Mococo to find her doing the same. She knew what Mama Puppy wanted them to do, but she didn’t want to be the first to do it. It was petty, sure, but she was still a child. And she had a feeling Mococo was feeling much the same.

‘Take care of your younger sister,’ Mama Puppy’s words floated into her mind. ‘That’s what cool older sisters do after all!”

'I’m a cool older sister!'

“I’m sorry, Moco-chan,” Fuwawa apologized. “I didn’t know you still wanted that Pon-de-ring.”

“...I’m sorry too.”

“That’s more like it.” Mama Puppy’s palm landed atop Fuwawa’s head. Next to her, Mococo was in the same situation. After a few seconds of patting them, Mama Puppy said, “Well, why don’t you two go change so we can go get some more Pon-de-Rings, yeah?”

“Really? You’re not mad at us?” Asked Fuwawa.

“Even though we fought?” Mococo followed.

“Of course not, darlings,” Mama Puppy giggled. “There’s nothing wrong with a little fight between sisters. In fact, you should fight even more. Being able to fight and disagree with each other and still make up in the end is proof that you share a close bond after all.”

“So you’re saying it’s okay to fight as long as we make up?”

“Correct!”

“Then you don’t have to worry about that!” Declared Fuwawa. “I’m the older sister after all. I’ll always forgive Moco-chan cause that’s what cool older sisters do!”

“Haeh!? What do you mean you’ll forgive me? It’s usually you who picks a fight!”

“That’s what you say, Moco-chan, but we both know it’s cause you can’t take a joke very well.”

“What!?”

“Girls,” Mama Puppy shook her head. “I know I said it’s OK to fight, but that doesn’t mean you gotta do it immediately, you know? Besides, do you want those Pon-de-Rings or not?”

“We do!”

“BAU BAU!”

“In the end, I’m not sure if either of you even learned anything...”

“What’s wrong with Mococo?”

Bijou turned her attention away from her phone to see Nerissa entering the room. The gem girl glanced at the younger of the Abyssgard twins sitting on the sofa opposite her before turning back to look at Nerissa.

“No idea. She’s been sulking since around lunch. She didn’t say anything when I asked her about it. I don’t think it’s that serious though, cause Fuwawa hasn’t made a fuss or anything yet.”

With a shrug, Biboo returned to her doomscrolling. Nerissa brought her gaze back towards Mococo. The usually hyper-friendly twin hadn’t even said a word to her. Instead, the fuzzy pup sat still on the sofa with puffed cheeks, hands wrapped tight around a pillow.

Nerissa thought it was cute. Still, even if Biboo said it was probably nothing serious, if there was something making her friend unhappy, then she had to get to the bottom of it.

“Hiya, darling,” Greeted the Raven as she approached Mococo. A curt grunt was the only answer she got. Nerissa sat down next to the frowning pup. “Something happened?”

Mococo hugged the pillow tighter around her arms, burying her lower mouth in it. “It’s nothing.”

Seems like Biboo was right. Judging by her tone, it doesn’t seem to be anything truly serious. “Did something happen with Fuwawa?”

“...yeah,” Mococo answered after a brief silence.

“Can you tell me?”

“...it’s nothing.”

“Really?”

“...fine.”

Nerissa smiled at the younger twin’s response. Despite her tough act, the fuzzy girl still wanted to rely on her friend. She waited patiently for Mococo to continue.

“Well... you see... Fuwawa ate my Pon-de-Ring...”

Nerissa blinked. “I’m sorry?”

“I said Fuwawa ate my Pon-de-Ring, BAU BAU!”

Nerissa was confused, a feeling evidently shared by the other Advent member currently in the room with them.

“That’s it!?” Biboo exclaimed in disbelief. “You didn’t say anything for hours, and it’s just that!?”

“Hoeh!? What do you mean ‘It’s just that’ it meant a lot to me, okay!?”

“This happens almost every month! Why is it such a big problem this time around?”

“That’s-!” Mococo fell silent. She opened and closed her mouth a few times before burying her face into the pillow once more. She mumbled something, but neither Nerissa nor Biboo could make it out.

“What was that, Moco-chan?” Nerissa asked. Mococo lifted her face and looked away from the other two, a blush adorning her cheeks.

“The Pon-de-Ring was a gift... from Cecilia. She gave it to me as a thank you when we hung out last week.”

“Wait. Cecilia?” Nerissa asked in surprise.

“Yeah...”

“Immergreen?” Biboo followed up.

“Yeah?”

“The Automaton?”

“From Justice?”

“Yeah–Wait, why does this matter right now!?” Exclaimed Mococo. She looked at her genmates with a resentful look on her face.

“It’s just.. unexpected.” Nerissa responded

“Yeah, like, when did that happen?”

“When what happened?”

A new voice grabbed their attention. Turning around, they saw Shiori standing in front of the door with a questioning look on her face. Nerissa opened her mouth to respond, but stopped when she noticed something–or rather someone–standing behind the Archiver.

“Fuwawa?” Biboo called out. With a hesitant smile, the fluffy twin stepped out from behind Shiori. She was holding something behind her, but Nerissa couldn’t quite see what it was.

“Hey Biboo. Hey Nerissa. and... Hey Moco-chan.”

“Hey guys!”

“Welcome back, Fuwawa, Shiori.”

“Hmph.”

Nerissa and Biboo greeted Fuwawa back, but Mococo simply huffed and turned her head away. Fuwawa grimaced at that. Shiori shook her head and gently pushed the elder twin forward.

“Go on, Fluffy. You got something to say, don’t you?”

Fuwawa threw a displeased face at Shiori, who just grinned in response. Letting out a huge sigh, Fuwawa finally moved. Nerissa scooched over and let Fuwawa take the spot next to her sister.

“Moco-chan...”

“...”

“Won’t you talk to me?”

“...”

“Can you at least look at me?”

After a brief silence, Mococo finally relented and turned to look at her sister. Fuwawa smiled and continued.

“I’m really sorry about eating your Pon-de-Rings, Moco-chan. I didn’t know they were a gift and–”

“You should still have asked first.”

“...yeah, you’re right. I’m sorry I didn’t ask for your permission,” Fuwawa gave Mococo her best smile. “Will you forgive me?”

“I don’t know...” Mococo mumbled to herself. Fuwawa sighed at that and finally brought out her secret weapon.

“Look, Moco-chan. I bought you Pon-de-Rings?”

Mococo stared at the offered bag incredulously. “Are you trying to bribe me?”

“It’s not a bribe,” Fuwawa giggled. “It’s a peace offering. I know it’s not from Cecilia, but I made sure to pick your favourites!”

Nerissa chuckled at Mococo’s conflicted look. It was obvious that she wanted the Pon-de-Rings, but her pride wouldn’t let her give in that easily. The stalemate went on for nearly a minute before Fuwawa decided to change tactics.

“So you don’t want it after all,” Said Fuwawa as she placed the bag on her lap. “Guess I’ll just have to eat it myself, Bau Bau...”

Mococo’s eyes widened in surprise. “Whaet? You can’t finish an entire dozen on your own!”

“You’re right, Moco-chan,” Fuwawa smirked. “But since you don’t want them, I guess I’ll just have to share them with everyone else.”

“Oh! Me! Me!” Biboo was quick to jump in. “I’d like a donut!”

“Well, if you’re offering, then I won’t refuse.”

“Right. I’m feeling sorta peckish anyway, so this is the perfect timing.”

“WAIT!” Mococo interrupted. She snatched the bag from Fuwawa’s lap and held it on her lap. She looked away as she continued. “Well, I guess I can forgive you this time, Fuwawa. But next time, you should ask me first before you take my stuff.”

Fuwawa broke into a huge grin as she pulled Mococo into a hug.

“Wha– hey!”

“Aww, thank you, Moco-chan! I won’t make that mistake again, Bau Bau!”

“Well, yeah, that’s fine and all, but let go of me!”

Shiori chuckled as she finally sat down next to Biboo. “All’s well that ends well, I suppose?”

“I don’t know if that’s what I’d call ‘well’, but at least Moco-chan’s finally talking again.”

“Well, now that that’s good and all,” Biboo interjected. “Can we get back to the topic of Mococo and Cecilia!?”

Mococo groaned and buried her head in her pillow once more.

Notes:

This was originally supposed to be the first chapter of a less humorous fic... I was almost done with the first half when I realized it didn't quite fit what I was going for. Instead of scrapping it all though I figured I would just turn it into its own one off thing. This was also partly based on my own interactions with my sister but that's neither here nor there i guess.

As for the Mococo/Cecilia stuff. Well I'm just a huge fan or rare pairs and there's not enough Mococo/Cecilia work around. In the first place it could have been almost anyone for that role anyway. Maybe I'll make another fic focusing on that pairing...

That's all I've got to say for this. I'm probably going to try and actually write the 'less humourous' fic next... whether that ever ends up complete remains to be seen.

That said, have a nice day and week and month and have an early Merry Christmas for all who celebrate it
