gerard places the final ornament onto the tree, close enough to the bright and colorful lights to make a glow around the ball.
"and there we have it- a pretty fuckin' good lookin' christmas tree if you ask me frankie. what'dya think?"
gerard looks behind him to face frank- who is bundled up in a red fluffy blanket with white snowflakes scattered over it.
"it's pretty, we picked out a good theme gee."
gerard stands up and brushes his knees off, backing up slightly to get a better view of their tree. the lights sparkle across his face, making him look like a little kid who just unwrapped their dream gift.
"yeah, and the tree was cheap too."
gerard turns around and lifts the blanket off frank, cuddling into franks side.
"y'know, even after being together for so long every christmas still feels like our first christmas together."
frank pulls the blanket over them, wrapping his arm around gerards waist, pulling him even closer. he looks down at gerard and presses his lips against gerard- tasting the lingering hot chocolate they shared earlier.
"and thats why i love you gee, everything still feels how it did when we first started dating." frank says while ruffling gerards hair playfully.
gerard reaches over to grab the remote and turns the tv on, clicking buttons on the remote to play home alone at a low volume. frank puts his head on gerards head, rubbing circles into his hair with his fingers.
thirty minutes pass and gerard eventually rolls over to scoot closer into franks body and lays an arm around franks waist.
he mumbles a soft "hey frankie," into franks chest, sounding tired.
"yeah gee?"
"i love you." and frank feels the slight smile form on gerards face through his shirt. frank then kisses the crown of gerards head, his knee comfortably digging into gerards chest while they find each others hands and hold them.
"i love you too baby, merry christmas."
