Work Text:
Bluey and Mackenzie slowly danced together. It was their wedding, after all. Everyone was happy, cheering on the newlywed couple with stifled “aww”s. However there was one that didn’t feel quite the same.
Bingo sat at an empty table, looking at the dancing couple, her elbow resting on the table while her head rested on her hand, digging in her cheek a little. She sighed. “Why do I keep looking? It only just hurts me…” Suddenly, she felt a tap on her shoulder. “Gah!” She turned around fast, startled by the sudden sensation. Standing there was one of her best friends, Dougie. “[Oh, hey Dougie.]” She said whilst signing.
[Hey Bingo! Sorry, did I startle you?] Dougie signed.
Bingo chuckled softly. “[A little, but it’s ok. What’s up?]”
[Well I saw you sitting by yourself so I thought I'd come over to keep you company. But you seem kinda, well, sad. What’s wrong?]
“[Was I that obvious? Well, I don’t know if sad is the right word but, I am feeling a… mix of emotions right now. It’s just hard and hurts seeing them together. I guess it’s a sense of longing or something. Like, ‘why can’t I have what they have?’. I don’t know, but I hate feeling like this because, you know, I want to be happy for my sister.]”
[I see. I’m sorry you feel this way. It must be hard to handle. I understand you, though. You feel a longing to be in a relationship with someone and hurt when you see someone close to you have what you don’t. I know how that feels. But I know you’ll find someone one day, as awesome as you are.]
Bingo smiles. “[Thanks Dougie. I appreciate your words.]”
[Anytime. Now, this…probably isn’t the right place to ask this but… would you like to go out sometime…?]
“[You? Asking me out?]” She chuckles. “[Sure, why not. Let’s do it.]”
