Boredom

Summary:

Wanda's bored. So she decides to go out, and with none other than her best friend. And boy is she grateful for that boredom...

Notes:

Hi guys! This is my first fic ever posted, second fic actually ever writing. I'm planning on making this just a bunch of one-shots (around 10) of little moments between our fav Marvel couple! It will probably be a couple weeks between each one, since middle school sucks and I'm a procrastinator. These are also going to be really short, prob 1-2k at most. Hope you guys enjoy!! Also, could be G but I put Teen and Up Audiences just in case.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Boredom was the only thing that could describe what Wanda felt as she scrolled mindlessly on her bed. The urge to do something was overpowering, but she couldn’t think of a single damn thing!

Maybe Vision has an idea, she thought as she sprang off her bed and nearly ran out of her room and down the stairs.

“Vision?” she called as she jogged through the endless hallways, hoping she would remember the way back, though the compound was far too big to be completely certain.

When he didn’t answer her calls, she opened her mind to his, using the link as a compass that led her to one of the many living rooms on that floor.

“Vizh?” She peeks her head through the door to see Vision sitting cross-legged on the couch, a book open in his lap.

“You’re always reading,” she said teasingly as she plopped down beside him.

“Reading is an interesting hobby,” he said defensively, eyes not leaving the book.

She looked over his shoulder. “What’s it called?”

“Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. It truly is a fascinating read. It shows how first impressions and ego can get in the way of actually understanding and learning about each other.”

“Well, I’m bored, and I need something to do with my best friend, so…ideas?” she says with a troublesome grin.

Vision felt his heart skip a beat. It always did that when she smiled, even though it shouldn’t. He wasn’t made to feel, supposedly, a cold, heartless robot. But here it was, evidence that he was more human than people realized.

“Vizh?” Her voice snapped him back to reality.

“Yes, sorry. Do you have preferences?”

“Outdoors. I’m tired of being holed up in here.”

He thought for a minute before an idea struck him.

“I have just the place.”

“So, still not gonna tell me?” Wanda said as they drove along the rocky road.

“You’ll see,” Vision said with a sly grin.

God, how that smile did things to her. It felt as if fireworks exploded in her chest whenever he smiled. Or did anything, really. She hated that reaction. He was just a friend. Still so new to the world, so innocent and naive. She couldn’t ruin that.

“Fine,” she said with a teasing poke.

After a few minutes, they pulled up at the edge of a thicket of trees. Wanda gasped, amazed by the size and height of the trees.

“Where are we?” she asked, turning to Vision.

“Surprise,” he said shyly. “I was on my usual surveillance laps when I was driven away from my route by air traffic. On my way back, I stumbled upon this place and decided to take a closer look. The sunset is absolutely stunning at the end of the trail.”

“Trail?” she asked as she and Vision got out of the car.

“Yes, I mapped out my own trail,” he said, a hint of pride in his voice.

“Without me?” she said, pretend hurt in her eyes.

He chuckled. “It wouldn’t have been a surprise if you helped me build it.”

“Well, let’s go then!” she said, grabbing his hand and dragging him into the woods, leaving the car behind.

His hand tingled at the contact, but he didn’t make an effort to pull away, though he should’ve. Even if he dared to ask her out, he wouldn’t know where to begin. Was she even interested in him? How would he approach her? When? These were questions he couldn’t answer, not right away.

Wanda, however, didn’t seem to notice his reaction. She was taken aback by the utter beauty of the trail, teeming with wildlife. Everywhere you looked, there was greenery unlike she’d ever seen before.

“This place is amazing, Vizh! I can’t believe such wildlife existed in New York,” she exclaimed, her carefully masked accent peeking through out of wonder.

“You’d be surprised,” he said with a smirk.

They continued walking in comfortable silence, speaking only occasionally. Minutes blended into hours, but she couldn’t care less. She had all the time in the world, and she was enjoying it.
In the afternoon, though, the heat was unbearable. She took off the cropped hoodie she was wearing, leaving her in a black tank top and jeans.

“It’s hot,” she giggled once she noticed Vision staring.

“Ah, m-my apologies,” he stuttered, eyes on the ground.

She couldn’t blame him. It was hard enough keeping her eyes off his toned arms, but she managed to keep walking in front of him so she could, thankfully, avoid them.

Though she liked his original crimson skin, she couldn’t deny that his human disguise was just as hot. His golden-blonde hair almost shone in the sun, looking so soft she had to use all her willpower not to run her hands through it. His near skin-tight T-shirt left nearly nothing to imagination, and the shorts weren’t helping either.

“How much longer until we reach this so-called ‘amazing sunset’?” she asked, hoping to distract herself from her thoughts.

“Actually, it should be right over this hill,” he said, gesturing to the top of the hill they were climbing.

“Thank God. I don’t know how long I could’ve gone.”

As they reached the curved top of the hill, the surroundings nearly made her jaw drop. The sunset was beautiful, easily the best one she’d ever seen. The horizon seemed to stretch on forever.

“Wow” was all she could manage as they basked in its presence.

“Come on,” he said as he reached for her hand, glad when she grasped his in return. “I know the perfect place.”

He led her to a little piece of flat land, just wide enough to fit two people. He laid his hoodie on the ground (such a gentleman, she noted) for her to sit on.

“Well, thank you,” she chuckled. “But I’m not gonna sit alone, am I?” She patted the empty space next to her, moving over so he would be comfortable.

They both sat down in silence, legs crossed under them, hands clasped together.

“Thank you, Vizh. For this,” She tilted her head to look at him.

He looked down at her and felt his heart race in his chest in a way he never thought was possible. He mustered all the courage he possibly could and leaned down to brush his lips against hers. He felt her tense and pulled away, studying her face for a reaction, but she just stared, wide-eyed, frozen in place.

He flashed her a nervous smile. “Anytime.”

For a moment, he thought he had miscalculated her feelings, that the subtle hints were just her being nice, when a smile so wide it probably hurt emerged on her face.

“Do you know how long I’ve been waiting for that!?” she laughed.

“I-I hope you’d rather like that,” he said, still noticeably nervous.

“Oh, extremely,” she giggled before kissing him again.

It wasn’t long before she was straddling his lap, knees pressing into his hips as they kissed, hands tangled in his hair, finally fulfilling her wish, while his arms were firmly wrapped around her waist, keeping her in place. She smiled into the kiss, joyful and slightly overwhelmed.

So much for boredom, she thought.
