Chapter Text
Bendy straw. En ver.
(Kind of Myth of the machine)
Boris had just finished the few tasks the two brothers had when Bendy arrived in the room in a panic.
“We have to leave,” whispered the demon, still exhausted from his recent run.
“Why?”
“The two cups are back for the card.”
Bendy slid to the floor, exhausted. Boris sighed. The two cups had been chasing them for the card for two weeks. And despite their attempts to talk, nothing worked. Boris put the bag on his back and took Bendy under his arm. He left the inn and set off as calmly as possible. But of course, the wolf could sense the two cups following him. At the edge of town, the distance between the cups and the other two brothers narrowed to the point that once they were far enough away, they came face to face. Boris let go of his brother and threw his bag into the roots of a tree. Cuphead and Mugman took their straws in hand, ready to shoot the wolf and the demon.
“Give us the map,” Mugman tried.
“Nope,” replied Bendy.
A shot rang out and Bendy narrowly dodged it. Boris rushed at Mugman, dodging one or two shots and deflecting the last one into the sky, while Bendy contented himself with dodging Cuphead's shots.
“Damn, you're agile!” grumbled the cup.
“Thanks!” replied Bendy.
This made the cup even angrier, and he fired more rapidly at his target, who dodged, of course. Meanwhile, Mugman was struggling to break free so he could shoot Boris. But the wolf was a little stronger than that. Bendy, on the other hand, was having fun. He was the only one, in fact. He did all kinds of tricks to dodge Cuphead's blows, such as doing a handstand at one point. Cuphead stopped his attacks when he realized his opponent was taunting him.
“Seriously?” said the cup.
“What?” asked Bendy, who didn't understand.
“We're not here to watch a show,” Cuphead replied sarcastically.
It took Bendy a moment to understand his opponent's words.
“It wasn't intentional, but you seem to be enjoying it,” laughed the demon.
Cuphead shot at him again, and Bendy moved quickly enough to avoid being killed. Bendy looked at the wound the cup had inflicted and glared at him.
“Ah! Now you're missing an arm. It's going to be harder to monkey around now!” Cuphead retorted.
But the injured arm didn't stop Bendy, who took malicious pleasure in resuming his “monkey business.” Just to infuriate his opponent, who was seriously starting to see red.
Boris and Mugman had noticed the little game going on right next to them, and they stopped fighting for a moment to watch the scene.
“Your brother is awfully agile.”
Boris nodded. Even with one arm missing, Bendy was still dodging blows with ease. Mugman tried to escape, but despite his attention being elsewhere, Boris still blocked the second cup's arms.
“Hey, are you ever out of bullets?” Bendy asks Cuphead.
“Never! Why are you tired?” Cuphead asks sarcastically.
“Pff, whatever! I just wanted to know.”
With a new move, Bendy lunged at Cuphead to knock him down. Bendy also tried to grab the weapon from his opponent's hands. Cuphead growled. Meanwhile, Boris and Mugman had stopped fighting because the scene was so... comical? What the younger brothers saw was a demon a head and a half shorter than the cup on horseback... Well, on the cup. Bendy clearly looked victorious, and Cuphead looked... bored? More like angry, even frustrated.
Boris cleared his throat. Bendy looked up at his brother.
“What?” asked the demon and the cup in unison.
“How can I put this...” Mugman hesitated, somewhat embarrassed. “The demon is straddling Cuphead...”
“So?” asked Cuphead.
“Seriously?! Are you doing this on purpose or what?”
Bendy analyzed the position he was in. And he understood. The demon stood up quickly and fell flat on his face, tripping over Cuphead's feet. Cuphead stood up and asked:
“I still don't understand what the problem was.”
“Bendy was... a little low and straddling you,” explained Boris.
“I want to say that it wasn't intentional!” explained Bendy, lying on the ground. “I was just defending myself!”
“We know.”
Mugman went to help his brother while Boris did the same with his.Cuphead still didn't understand—at least, that's what he let on—what the younger ones were getting at. Mugman held out his hand, but Cuphead refused it with a grunt. Bendy was caught by his brother and placed over the wolf's shoulder. Boris took their bag and... ran. Far away from the two lunatics who had been chasing them for quite some time.
“Cuphead, stop thinking about it, we have to catch up with them.”
“Yes.”
The cup stood up and followed his brother into the dark forest.
“I can walk, you know?” Bendy pointed out.
But Boris didn't answer, continuing to run blindly through the forest.
“BORIS! To the right!” shouted the demon.
The wolf obeyed him and moved to the right. He could see out of the corner of his eye that he had just dodged a shot from one of the cup brothers. Bendy stuck his tongue out at them to taunt them. This made the cup with the red straw a little angry. He loaded his weapon and fired another shot at the ink brothers. Bendy dodged it by ducking just in time.
“Is that all you've got?” Bendy asked to taunt them.
“Bendy!” growled the wolf. “Stop taunting them, you're going to end up killing us both!”
“Sorry...”
Bendy and Boris had arrived at an inn surrounded by a few houses. They settled into a room, but Bendy wanted to play. So he went downstairs and joined those playing blackjack. At first, he just watched, but eventually he started playing. He sat down on the wooden chair and placed his bet. His opponent, a feline who looked to be two heads taller than him, placed his own bet. Then the game began. And, luckily for our demon, he won the first round. In total, he won 13 rounds before coming face to face with a familiar cup.
“You?!” exclaimed Bendy.
“Yup. But don't worry, I don't want your card. I just want to play.”
And so they played. Bendy won the game, and Cuphead wanted to play another. They played ten times. But Bendy always won. Cuphead finally offered him a deal. If Bendy won again, Cuphead and Mugman would help them. If not, the demon would owe the cup the card.
“Deal,” said Bendy, grabbing his opponent's hand.
Of course, the demon had been drinking a little during the games. So, there was no denying that he would have been more cautious without his drinks. But the game started and... Bendy won. Cuphead almost ate his straw in anger.
“How do you do that?!” exclaimed the cup.
Bendy shrugged and got up. He wanted to go to bed. He headed for the stairs, then turned abruptly:
Don't forget our deal.
The cup sank into its seat, grumbling discontentedly.
The next day, Bendy thought Boris had stolen his comforter.
Bendy.
What? replied the still sleepy demon.
Can you explain why Cuphead came to tell me that he and his brother were following us to... help us?
Bendy suddenly sat up to face his brother and, behind him, Cuphead, who waved at him, and Mugman, who was pulling his head.
“I forgot to tell him...” Bendy muttered to himself. “Okay!” he exclaimed.
He got out of bed and closed the door on the cups. Bendy turned to the wolf, who was frowning, still waiting for his explanation.
“I may have played blackjack yesterday... And at one point, the red cup challenged me.”
“Go on.”
“I won, and he had nothing left to bet.”
“Bendy,” Boris threatened.
“He offered to join me on my adventure if I won again. There, are you happy now?”
“What if he had won?”
“Why worry about what I won?” panicked the smaller one.
Boris glared at him until the demon answered.
“He asked for the card if I lost...”
“Bendy!” exclaimed the wolf, terrifying his brother. “Well,” sighed Boris finally. “What's done is done. Bendy, pack your bag, we're leaving.”
Bendy stood at attention and hurried off to get ready. Cuphead and Mugman had been waiting outside the door during the discussion. But it wasn't silent—Cuphead had to listen to his brother's reproaches. The two were leaving when suddenly Boris opened the bedroom door.
“Come in,” he said in a rather cold tone.
The two cups entered quickly and quietly. They stood in a corner and didn't move. It must be said that Boris was rather scary. Bendy quietly got out of the shower and went to his bed to get his T-shirt. He finished getting ready and started packing his bag. Everyone was watching him, as he was the last one to get ready.
“Um...” said Bendy, feeling very uncomfortable.
“What?” asked Boris, still angry.
“Nothing, nothing. Yes, we can go.”
With that, Bendy slung the bag over his shoulders. Boris opened the door and the other three left the room. They went downstairs to return the keys and hit the road again. Boris was suspicious of the two newcomers. After all, Cuphead and Mugman had tried to kill them, so why should he trust them? But Bendy, on the contrary, seemed quite calm about the presence of the two cups in their group. He was chatting with Mugman as if nothing had happened. The two got along strangely well, and their camaraderie made Cuphead jealous. Boris, who was keeping an eye on the two cups, quickly noticed the cup's jealousy. He moved to the cup's market height, which was three or four meters away from Bendy and Mugman.
“Are you okay?” Boris asked.
A bubble seemed to burst next to Cuphead's head.
“Yeah... How about you?”
“I'm just wary of your presence. And I also noticed that you were... jealous?”
“Pff! Me? Jealous? Nonsense! And then...”
“Cuphead—if I understand correctly—I see you watching your brother and mine talking.”
“Well, maybe. What do you care?”
“Since when? Especially since you don't get along...”
Cuphead shrugged. Boris looked bored. If even the cup doesn't know, we're in trouble. Meanwhile, Bendy and Mugman were talking about almost everything.
Bendy, I have a question.
Go ahead, I'm listening!
“Do you like my brother?”
Bendy froze. For more than five seconds. He even started to think seriously.
“No, why?”
“Just because.”
“What about you? Are you in love with my brother~?” asked the demon teasingly.
Mugman started to blush and stutter.
“Um... I mean... Yes?”
And of course, from a distance, Cuphead couldn't hear what they had just said. He just saw his brother blushing. And that bothered him.
“You've got that look again,” Boris remarked.
“What look?”
“You're jealous. Stop denying it.”
The four adventurers continued their journey. Perhaps two weeks later, they stopped at an inn. They took a room and settled in. Bendy suggested that they really rest and therefore play games. Boris replied that as long as it wasn't gambling, and Bendy was disappointed. For him, if it wasn't gambling or betting, it wasn't fun. Boris suggested other games earlier. But first, they had to eat.
“I wonder what Boris has in mind...” Bendy muttered.
“And I have a feeling Mug's is in on it,” Cuphead replied.
The meal passed in dead silence. Or almost, given that Boris was whispering his plan to Mugman. When the meal was over, the four of them went back to their room for the night. That's when Boris and Mugman's plan began. Once in the room, they suggested playing simple card games without betting: poker, queen of spades, etc. But they also had a little alcohol because, why not? Bendy didn't hold back on the drink, since for once he had his younger brother's permission. Cuphead also enjoyed the drink and had two or three glasses. Boris had only one, and Mugman refused to drink. After a while, Bendy, who had finished a bottle, suggested playing “7 Minutes in Heaven.” The others agreed and started the game. Bendy clumsily spun the bottle in the center of the circle formed by the four friends. The bottle pointed to the demon, then they spun again to find out who would be next. Cuphead. The two most drunk were thrown into the closet—there was nothing else—and locked in. As it happened, this was perfect timing for Boris and Mugman.
It was somewhat quiet in the closet. Bendy and Cuphead avoided each other's gaze.
“Why did I suggest this?” Bendy thought to himself.
“What do I do?” Cuphead wondered, panicking.
The space they found themselves in was small but big enough for them to sit down. After a moment, Cuphead took the initiative. He stood up and approached Bendy, forcing the demon to back up against the closet wall.
“Cuphead?”
The cup didn't answer. He stared at the demon, who was smaller than him. Cuphead towered over him. He sat on his knees, hoping to be a little more the demon's size, but the difference was still very apparent.
“Bendy...”
The demon struggled to focus his attention on his interlocutor.
“Do you...”
Cuphead blushed a little.
“Do you love me?” he asked.
Bendy was a little surprised by the question but quickly responded: he grabbed the cup by the collar of his T-shirt and pulled him toward him to kiss him. Cuphead was initially surprised but quickly responded to the kiss. He slid his arms around the demon's waist, who had straightened up slightly, while Bendy clung to Cuphead's neck. To intensify the kiss, Cuphead asked for access to Bendy's mouth. Bendy responded positively, and Cuphead began to dance his tongue with Bendy's. The cup lifted the demon and placed him on his lap. The demon's tail slipped under his companion's T-shirt, and, out of breath, the two reluctantly had to separate. Cuphead began to smile like an idiot.
“I'll take that as a yes.”
And he kissed the demon once more.
Meanwhile, Boris and Mugman had started a game of checkers.
“Do you think they're ever going to leave?” asked Mugman.
“Knowing them, no.”
Boris placed another pair on the pile.
“Tell me, do you love anyone?” asked the wolf.
Mugman looked up, surprised by the question. Then he started laughing, which confused the wolf.
“Why?”
“Just because...”
Mugman puts down his cards and approaches the wolf. He places Boris's hand on his shoulder and sits down on Boris's lap. Boris blushes slightly at the gesture and the surprise. Mugman plants a soft kiss on Boris's cheek and smiles tenderly at him.
“I love you too,” the mug confides.
The end !
