Chapter Text
“Jason! You ass wake up!” “What did I do this time, Pipes?” I sat up in the uncomfortable bunk bed to a very angry Piper standing over me. “Why didn’t you tell me you’re gay? We could’ve been WLW and MLM solitary months ago!” “Piper what? What’s that? How’d you find out I’m gay?” Instead of properly answering any of my questions she just gestured to my chest. Looking down I saw a sleeping Leo in one of my sleep shirts, “Ah. That would explain the whole knowing I’m gay thing. Wait, why aren’t you surprised Leo likes dudes?” She sighed exasperated and waved her well tanned arms around, “Please I clocked him as pan the second he got here. I mean look at him!” I looked down and yeah I saw what she meant he even had a pan flag colored bracelet. “Fair… What’s WLW and MLM though?” “Did you grow up under a rock?” We went over this I don’t know!” “Fine, Fine. WLW means women loving women and MLM means men loving men.” That made some sense but it wasn’t out of the ordinary for her to lie about that stuff so I’ll have to ask Leo later even if he’s more likely to either not know either or lie. “HEY ALL OF YOU CUPCAKES WAKE UP!” “I swear he wants to kill my eardrums…” Pipes complained while covering her ears. Leo also finally woke up yawning and stretching, “Sup Pipes.” “Why didn’t you tell me you and Jason were dating?” “I thought it’d be funny lmao.” “AY YOU THREE UP AND AT IT BEFORE I MAKE YA!” “See you guys later.” Then Pipes walked out to get ready with the other girls.

After brushing our teeth and getting dressed Coach Hedge escorted us onto a bus. “Hey Jace, what do you think the grand canyon looks like?” “I don’t know Pipes.” “Are we there yet?” “No Leo.” I was starting to regret sitting in between both Piper and Leo. They had been taking turns asking me annoying questions for the past 30 minutes and I was beginning to lose it. They’d get tired soon though over the past few months I’d been here I’d discovered they both wake up mostly alright but about an hour later they both crashed. It was almost creepy how fast it happened. It's like a clock that strikes one hour since they woke up then they’d pass out. Piper’s head would fall forward into her lap and Leo’s head would fall to my shoulder. “So I was thinking…” and they were both out. I had about 30 minutes of freedom now so I might as well just sleep too.

“Jason, wake up, we're here.” “Ugh…” “CUPCAKES GET OUT OR YOU’LL BE BURNING ALIVE IN HERE FOR THE REST OF THE DAY!” “Is that even legal?” I couldn’t help but ask, “No, but it’s not like anyone cares. Now let’s go.” Leo grabbed my hand and dragged me off the bus. “Hey Piper! You’re my partner.” Oh bother not him… Dylan had been bothering Pipes for awhile now and none of us were sure why. I felt Leo grip my hand just a bit harder as Piper sent us an annoyed glare before stalking off toward Dylan. “Let’s go.” “Wait, what are we doing?” Leo didn’t answer me, just dragged me toward the canyon. I was getting sick of not being answered. We walked to the edge and began to work on a random work sheet- well I was. Leo was building a helicopter out of pipecleaners-before the wind started.
It was insane like a switch was flipped in the sky. First came a light breeze then it just kept getting stronger and stronger. Dylan and Piper got most people out but then Dylan forced the door closed with Piper, me, Leo and Coach still on there with him. “Dylan what the hell?” Piper screeched over the wind and his smile got devilish then he turned towards me. He brought out a sword and lunged forward for me but before he could everyone else attempted to stop him but Pipes got to him first. “Hey back off Jason!” Was her great all mighty war cry before she got thrown up into the sky. Seemingly on instinct when the glass underneath us started to crack I grabbed a gold coin out of my pocket and threw it in the air. When it came back down it was suddenly a sword, “Ah finally time to play!” Dylan went forward again but Coach Hedge got to him first this time, “STAY AWAY FROM MY DEMIGODS!” Demigods? Why do I have a sword?
“Jason holy- That’s a sword!” I finally remembered Leo was next to me in all his short glory fully prepared to beat a dude up. “I don’t know!” I felt overwhelmed and confused. Where was Piper? What was Dylan? Why could he control the wind? Why’d I have a sword? I couldn’t think much longer before Pipes began to fall back down from the sky. Coach hit Dylan one more time- at least I think he tried? It seemed to go straight through -then he went and saved Piper from cracking her head open on the glass and most likely sent us all plummeting to our deaths. How’d he even jump so high? I should just stop asking questions. Leo ran forward before anyone could react but he was thrown over the side by a gust of wind, “LEO!” Both me and Piper screamed in unison. Finally I ran for Dylan raising my sword like a gold club. His image flickered and then I was running toward a laughing tornado. I tried to stop but it was too late. I swung down and somehow hit it. I got knocked back as well but not nearly as far as the others then I looked up and the tornado was seeming to bleed gold. Dylan? Seemed distracted for the time being so I switched off with Coach Hedge and ran to Piper. “How do we save Leo?” “I don't know!” Leo was holding onto a small ledge just out of even my reach near tears.
Then his hands slipped and all my thoughts jumped over the railing with me. “Jason! Leo!” I heard Piper scream but it was too late we were both falling. I managed to grab Leo then I closed my eyes. “No, no, no! Coach! No Dylan, leave Coach alone! Leo, Jason no! Stop falling!” Piper's voice was barely reaching my ears but she was clearly in distress. “Gods I wish we could fly…” After that wish we stopped falling. I opened my eyes and we were seemingly flying in the air. “What the…” “Eeeep!” Leo’s arms wrapped around my neck and then I looked down and we began to fall ever so slowly down. “Nope, nope, nope! Jasey-Jace, now's the time to look up!” I looked up and we began to go up. “Holy cow! Jason, we lived. Piper, where’s Coach? Who are these guys?” “I’m so sorry…” She was crying on the ground in front of a… chariot? The drivers were a blonde, light skinned girl with sharp cold grey eyes and a shaved headed, darker skinned guy with a rainbow tattoo, but that wasn’t even the strangest part there were two winged horses tied to the chariot. “Come on Annabeth. I know they’re not Percy but they could help. Plus we have to go now.” The rainbow tattooed guy said looking at the blonde girl and she sighed. “You three get in.”
