Chapter Text
“So basically no one wants to become Stargazers because the school’s full of Grinches that think they’re too old for this holiday?” Yuu asked as the Savannaclaw student walked away.
“Precisely!!!” The group jumped at the sound of Crowley’s voice. “It’s all too true that the student body isn’t very compliant when it comes to the Starsending. I don’t know what a Grinch is, but it is imperative that this Starsending is a success. This school needs to learn some cooperation and it garners a school’s reputation if they honor traditional ceremonies. Which is why it’s up to YOU Stargazers to make sure students make their wishes and put them on the tree. I’m giving you full permission to do whatever it takes.”
“Whatever it takes huh? Excluding magic of course.” Deuce answered.
“No. I am also granting permission to use magic.” Headmage Crowley said. “This is more than a personal dispute. This affects the school so you have my full support.”
“This sounds like this year’s going to be even more of a mess.” Trey sighed.
“Right then, Yuu and Grim will assist you as well; however, since we only have three Stargazers I only have the attire for our astrology selected crew. Go ahead, try them on.” Crowley passed out a set of clothes to Trey and Deuce who left to put them on.
“Ooh!!! It’s the official Starsending robes, that’s so cool!!!” Ortho gushed once the two boys returned in their new attire.
“I’ll explain the ceremonial dance and drumming later, for now please wear these robes and gather as many Wishing Stars as you can.” Crowley said
“Yes sir!” Deuce stood at attention proudly.
“I’ll do my best.” Trey promised
“Very good. Until then, adieu.” Crowley left the group as suddenly as he appeared.
“Myah, why are we getting dragged into this?” Grim complained.
“Hey Yuu, what’s the Grinch you mentioned before?” Ortho asked.
“Oh that. How the Grinch Stole Christmas is a children’s book turned into a song and holiday movie back where I’m from.” Yuu explained “There’s also a term known as being a Scrooge that comes from another famous story turned into a movie known as “A Christmas Carol”. Both Scrooge and the Grinch are antagonists that don’t like Christmas but undergo a change that make them love the holiday, but when you call someone a “Grinch”, it means they have a sour attitude towards something while Scrooge is more of a term for being stingy.”
“So when you called the student body “Grinches”, it means that they have a poor attitude towards the Starsending.” Ortho mused
“Exactly.” Yuu replied before sighing “Dang it, now I’m in the mood to watch it.”
“Hmm…. I just searched it up and I can’t find this story.” Ortho said.
“I don’t expect you to….It’s…. not going to be available here.” Yuu answered “But it’s nice that you still looked it up.”
“You said that this Grinch originally hated Christmas right?” Trey asked “What made this change you spoke of?”
“Oh. Well you see, after the Grinch stole all of the material stuff from the Whos, which he thought would stop Christmas, he heard the Whos still singing carols in the square and it gave him a change of heart…at least that was the original storyline. A new movie released later had Cindy Lou have more of an impact on the change in the Grinch rather than her only appearance catching him while he was stealing their Christmas tree.” Yuu answered again.
“Cindy Lou?” Ortho asked curiously.
“Dr. Suess was the author of the original story and he was a children’s author known for his rhyming style of writing.” Yuu explained “The Grinch lived on Mt. Krumpet and the Whos lived down below him in Whoville, Cindy Lou Who is one of the Whos in Whoville and is described as being no older than two….mainly for the rhyming style, the second release of the movie had her seem older but still young enough to be easily tricked by the Grinch.”
“You remember this story a lot. It must be really special at home for you.” Deuce commented thoughtfully.
“It’s a holiday classic that’s basically a family tradition.” Yuu sighed “It’s hard to believe this year I won’t be with them to watch….”
Deuce looked at Trey who was watching Yuu thoughtfully. “Yuu, do you think you’d be less homesick if you at least had the movie to watch?”
“That’d be nice but Ortho just said it can’t be found. You guys are sweet for asking though, but right now I’m just immersing in the Starsending as your honorary help.” Yuu smiled reassuringly.
