Chapter 1: 1983

Chapter Text

The year was 1983, Michael was a teenager who had just turned 14, still carefree and had no worries in life, being a complete bully to his younger brother who was only 7 years old and turning 8 in 5 days. They also had a sister named Elizabeth, who was intrigued by their father, William's work at Circus Baby's Pizza world being extremely interested in his creations there. Evan however, was not, he saw the things as horrifying creatures, having nightmares about them nights after they had gone to Fazbears, seeing them in his dreams, most prominently before his birthday, which was at his least favourite place on the planet. Fazbear's Family Diner. Michael knew this, and knew it well, he saw an opportunity and took it, scaring him frequently with a foxy mask he had won from Freddy's a location he went frequently with his father, hanging out with his friends, who he let in with the bullying of his brother, making Evan even more terrified of not only the animatronics that towered over him, but also the fear of being bullied by

Michael, his own brother. He often confided within a plush Fredbear, with a leg stitched together due to its age.
The day was November 10th 1983, the day was suprisingly warm and bright, giving Evan a little hope that today would be at least bearable for him. It was his birthday, a day he wishes he could celebrate and have joy in. The day was not. His family wished him a happy birthday, even Michael who had a grin on his face, which Evan didn't like in the slightest. "So, you excited to go to the diner?" Michael smirked " I know you looove that place." Evan looked slowly up to his brothers, face, him being almost double the height. "Y-you know out of everyone, th-that I hate that place" he stuttered out. "Last time we went you locked me in a storage closet full of spare animatronic parts!" he cried, wishing anyone would hear him, but only Michael could, the rest of his family already waiting in the car for them. "Come on don't be such a scaredy wuss, it was only a little prank, nothing was going to happen to you" he said, holding his laughter. "Let's just get the day other with little man, and try not to wet you pants and embarass yourself in front of everyone again." Michael jumped into the front of the car while Evan and Elizabeth sat in the back, Evan keeping to himself, wondering how he would ever survive the day.

They arrived at the diner, Evan hiding behind his father before walking in as William walked off to a back entrance to his office to get work done, which he often did but still was there for his family. The minutes felt like hours for Evan, the diner full of people wearing masks of Bonnie, Chica, Foxy and Freddy, which he hated as he tried to avoid looking at them when possible. He sat down at a table as far away from the main stage as he could, hoping to avoid getting close to either Fredbear or Springbonnie, Fredbear in particular scared him the most out of every animatronic, he couldn't explain why he felt like this, maybe it was the size of him, the monstrous metal creature triple his size and could easily crush him, the design of the animatronic didn't help either, its animatronic eyes piercing Evans soul like an arrow hitting a bullseye. The day dragged by but went at least manageable for Evan him sticking to eating cheesy pizza and playing arcade games to pass the time, but often sticked to hiding underneath tables, hoping no one would notice him but something happened, he needed the toilet. This heavily risked being spotted by his brother, who was filling in for William as he had to leave to help his co-worker and good friend, Henry Emily, who helped design the creatures of Evans nightmares, but he couldn't hold it and ran to the toilet as fast as he could, his legs weak in fear managing to carry him all the way there, when he let out a sigh of relief, a false sense of security however, because has he left he heard an all too familiar voice, which echoed through his brain. "Hey little man!" It was Michael and his friends, all wearing worn down and broken animatronic masks, he had been spotted...

The 4 kids surrounded him, one who wore a bonnie mask, who was slightly smaller than Michael but still towered over Evan almost cried from laughter."Wow! Your brother really is a baby isn't he?" "It's hillarious" Michael replied "Perhaps we should give him a closer look at them, he'll love it!" Evan knew what this meant, they were going to take him to the main stage, in front of the 2 things he was scared of most. "Please No!!" he cried, tears running down his face like a waterfall, soaking his shirt. "Hey, I think he wants to get up close and personal with Fredbear, lets give him a lift!" a person in a broken Chica mask joyfully said, its left eye gone and showing the boys instead. All 4 of the boys grabbed him off the floor like he weighed nothing and started to carry him over towards the stage, his struggling doing nothing to free him."No please I don't want to! Let me go please!" he yelled hoping they would listen, but like he expected, they didn't and just continued laughing and walking forwards."Hey, I think the little man wants to Fredbear a huge kiss!" Michael cackled "On 3. 1... 2... 3!!" The 4 boys lifted him up higher and shoved his head inside of Fredbears wide, open and gigantic mouth, which barely kept him in. The tears he shed streamed down his face onto the floor, making a small wet puddle and down into Fredbears suit, it was the most terrified Evan had felt in his life, he swore he was about to pass out from the fear when- CRUNCH! The laughter that filled the room from the boys abruptley, Michael's pupils shrank down as the Diner was filled with silence and shock. Blood spilled out onto the stage and covered fredbear, his mouth containing the lifeless body of Evan Afton, who's head was mangled and crushed by the jaw of monstrous animatronic, after the tears of an innocent boy set off the springlocks of the endoskeleton inside Fredbear, slamming its jaw shut.

William and Henry had just arrived back at the Diner, laughing and celebrating the recent success of their business, to see people outside, looking traumatised and vomitting. They both tried to ask if they were ok and what happened, but they were to stunned to speak and all they could do was shakingly point to the entrance, which had banners covering it for Evans Birthday, blocking the inside. "Stay out here and make sure our customers are ok" William explained "I'll go and check whats wrong." He ran inside the diner and his face crumpled in agony and despair and he laid eyes on his young sons body, hanging from the jaw of his own creation, with his oldest sat their with his friends, with guilty looks drowning their faces behind the masks. Michael was completely stunned and traumatised by the events, he couldn't even speak or hear what people where saying, he was sat there, motionless and empty, like an empty animatronic suit. The only sounds he could hear were the sirens of ambulances which sounded weirdly like... alarm clocks?
