Infinity

Summary:

After a fatal blow, Infinite thinks back about why he did any of this in the first place. Everything comes full circle as in his final moments wishes to be his past self once more.

What awaits him in the afterlife?

Notes:

Hi, hello! This is my first time writing for Infinite and I hope I did well with how I portrayed him.

Forces was the first game that I had seen gameplay from a year ago and I decided to make this as a reminder of where I started when coming into the fandom.

I hope you all enjoy this personal take on his character. <3
I also have art of this fic on twitter! My user is the same as on here!

Work Text:

Before I knew it, it was over in an instant. A fight between the ultimate lifeform and I, who used to be the ultimate mercenary. I, of course, do not hold that title anymore. That died with the rest of my squad that day. A day I’ll never forget. I failed at protecting who I vowed to save. My true family, the jackal squad. For he took them from me.

I fall to my knees, gasping for air that is just barely within my reach. I hold onto my stomach. I’m bleeding. I, once the bringer of destruction and calamity, am dying from a single blow. I look up, a light faintly starting to fill my vision.

Are they waiting for me? Will they accept me as I am now? I’m still as weak as I was the day I failed them. That is all I have ever been. I just never wanted to face it. Shadow is saying something. Most likely cursing my existence. Calling me everything that I call myself and more.

I couldn’t care less. I cough up blood, ruining the inside of my mask. It’s getting harder to breathe but I still refuse to show my unsightly face. I just can’t bare to.

“I just want to see them again” I spit out between bloody coughs.

And soon enough, I see them. They’re faint, but still there. But as soon as they see me, they turn around and walk away. No. No. No! No! I can’t even see their faces- what they think of me!

I reach out to them, falling onto the ground upon dirt and my own blood. That white light soon becoming a black void as I start to lose consciousness.

I fight it back for as long as I could. Crawling, I try to make my way to them. I’m not fast enough though. I will never be fast enough.

“Please. Don’t leave me alone!” Those were my final words as I throw my mask off of my face. Wishing to be the jackal they once knew. For the first time since their death, I regretted throwing away who I used to be.

Soon enough, I was alone in the endless void. Nothing to be seen anywhere I look.

I was alone. This was my punishment for my crimes. An infinity of being alone with only my mind to remind me of my mistakes.
