Summary:

its the night of Christmas eve and toddler reader is excited

Work Text:

Christmas eve had rolled around and y/n was cuddled up with their plushie watching a Christmas movie in their pyjamas with their older brother jon on the other side of the couch.

“So y/n are you excited for tomorrow?” Jon asked his little sibling

“Yes” they cheered “i hope i get *toy you want* ”

As the two watched tv Lois came in

“y/n come lay out milk and cookies for santa”

“ok” they said hopping off the couch and skipping over to the kitchen

“Can we put out carrots for the reindeer?” they asked

“Sure great idea” Lois replied

y/n washed their hands and pulled out their step stool to grab their favourite plate and cup as their mom got out the milk and cookies. Lois poured and placed the snacks out on a tray for y/n to carry

“Now put these on the coffee table for Santa and the reindeer” she instructed

“Ok” y/n said, wobbling back into the living room. They placed it down on the table

They let out a yawn and sat back down on the couch.

Throughout the rest of the movie they continued to yawn here and their as their eyelids became heavier.

When the two finished the movie Clark had come home after a battle.

“Hey kids” he said floating inside “excited for the morning?”

“Yea!” y/n cheered

“You're gonna love the gift I got you!” Jon said “did you save anyone? Did you win a battle?” Jon asked excitedly

“Yes i went to help batman-” the two had gone on about Clark's time with Bruce in Gotham. y/n grew more tired and tuned the two out as they looked at the tree as their eyes struggled to stay open while letting out a yawn they stared off for a bit until

“Ok its past your bedtime lets get you to bed” Lois said

“I'll tuck them in tonight come on y/n” he said scooping them up “ill tell you the rest after y/ns in bed” he told Jon

Clark went upstairs with his sleepy toddler and strolled to their room.

“I want to be…a hero…like you” y/n told Clark as they entered y/ns bed room

“You would make a great hero one day” he replied smiling as he tucked the covers over them he pulled out a Christmas book as a bedtime story

“Twas the night before Christmas when all through the house..” he read softly

As Clark read to y/n they slowly drifted off to sleep peacefully

“Goodnight little one he said as he put away the book and quietly left the room.

They were peacefully asleep for a while until they had woken up a few short hours later, their clock reading 12:46

y/n woke up with a yawn and slowly opened their eyes.

“Did Santa come yet?” they asked themselves.

y/n floated out of their bed and sneaked out their door to the hallway eyeing the coffee table where the plate was. They tiptoed down the steps and flew to the table

The cup was empty and all the plate had left was crumbs. A smile grew in their face as they turned around to see more gifts under the tree. “Ooo” they whispered, floating towards them “i wanna open one” they thought to themselves.

But before they could get a close look at them up close they heard a noise up stairs. y/n looked up to see a figure and hid behind the couch. They heard the footsteps come closer and closer.

When the steps got close they peaked their head out from the side of the couch looking up to see that Jon was also awake this late doing whatever.

When Jon had his back turned they tried making a run for it but accidentally tripped up the stairs. “Ouchie” they

Whined rubbing their knee

“y/n? What are you doing up this late?” he whispered

“To see if Santa came” they replied pointing at the tree and empty plate and cup

“we are good kids of course he came” Jon replied

"i know...just wanted to see him" y/n sighed

"well maybe next year, come on you got to get back to-" he replied but was interrupted by their parents door opening and Lois emerging

“You two really couldn't wait till morning could you” she sighed

“What is going on?” she said sternly

“I was coming down stairs but then i heard y/n tripping up the stairs and they said they wanted to see if Santa came and if they could see him but it looks like he did” Jon explained

Lois picked up y/n “you want to sleep in our bed tonight?” she asked her toddler

“Yea” y/n replied

“Jon clean up the cup and plate and go to bed” she said as she turned around heading back to her room.

“Goodnight baby” she said, squeezing y/n in between her and Clark. The two fell asleep for the rest of the night peacefully.

The next morning when the three woke up y/n shock their parents “presents! Presents!” they cheered

Clark let out a yawn “yea in a bit” he said sitting up

“Just hold on a little its almost time for presents” Lois told them.

After getting ready and having some coffee the kids finally got to open their presents.

Jon and y/n got everything they asked for including the *toy you want* and more Lois appreciated the gifts Jon and Clark gave her as well as a little craft y/n made for her in class before the break.
