Chapter 1: Complicated

Chapter Text

Complicated

First chapter, Landos' pov, middle of November

Lando ran into the practice room as if her life depended on it. It was her first-ever practice.

A few weeks ago, her friend Danny reposted a story from his drummer friend, saying she was trying to start a band and needed a bassist, guitarist, and singer.

Preferably female. Lando had no idea how to play bass, but she was pretty good on guitar and was a responsible singer, so she replied to the girl without hesitation. As if she didn't have enough plans already.

Lando just loved doing things, being busy.

She was a part-time streamer, a graphic design student, she tried photography, DJing and her Instagram was flooded with fashion girlies. Yeah, Lando was booked basically each and every day.

The Brit was even an almost girlfriend a few weeks back, but that was long gone now. With her amazing, not even ex-boyfriend, back in Argentina. After he told Lando to fuck off. Chris explained to her, not really nicely, that he took their summer relationship like a fling and nothing more.

So yeah, at least she was officially single now and gained a bit more time for herself. That was one of the reasons why she decided to text the girl and send her some of her recordings.

Lando hated sitting around and being stuck in her head. She hoped the band could help with that. New people, new responsibility, and stuff like that.

Unfortunately, that would be pretty hard if she couldn't even make it to the first practice on time. She rushed into the practice room. Nervous thoughts swirling in her head.

In the end, she was only ten minutes late, which was pretty good considering that there were times she ran several hours late. Still, both of the girls were already there.

A pale-skinned, blonde, blue-eyed girl was sitting behind the drum set, twisting with the drum stick between her fingers. She was turned towards the short Japanese-looking girl who was clicking some of the pedals connected to her bass with her foot.

They stopped talking at the interruption in the form of Lando, and both of them looked up at the Brit.

“Hey guys, I'm so sorry for running late, the subway was taking the piss out of me seriously. At first, there was a delay, so I thought I could catch the earlier train, but it quickly disappeared, so I had to take the second, but then-” She started rambling until the blondish girl interrupted her monologue.

“It's okay, just prepare your stuff so we can finally start, Lando, right?” The girl behind the drums said.

Max probably if Lando could believe the description Danny gave her. But the fact that she spoke confidently, and of course, played the drums, confirmed it. The girl stared and looked a bit annoyed at Landos' antics.

Probably not fond of the chaos that Lando was on most days.

“Okay,” she replied, still somewhat cheerily. She didn't want to be a buzzkill.

“I'm Yuki, by the way,” the dark-haired girl interrupted Landos' train of thought. Her voice was way softer than Lando would guess from the confident way she stood and the things she wore.

Yuki had a bright blue hoodie with dolphins and pink stars all over it. Under that, she wore a bright pink t-shirt with a big yellow heart on her chest. Then there was her long, layered skirt. Each layer had a different pattern.

And that was only her clothes. Her hair was adorned with a bunch of hair clips, all of them bright blue, sticking up in her bangs, and she had pink and yellow eyeshadow. She didn't look like a particularly shy person despite speaking like one.

Lando would feel underdressed with her low-waisted jeans, black tank top, khaki jacket, and black eyeliner if it wasn't for Max. The girl was wearing an oversized hoodie and dark blue oversized jeans.

Her hair was cut in a short bob with a bit of layers, and from what Lando could see, she wasn't wearing any makeup. They looked like they all would bully each other, but music will surely connect them.

At least Lando hoped.

“Nice to meet ya,” Lando answered after realizing she basically left the girl on heard, while she quickly took out her guitar from the case. Quickly putting the cable into her guitar and connecting the combo to the sound.

“So we are gonna play the songs that you should have prepared for today and see how it goes, but from the videos I have seen from both of you, I think it will be alright,” Max explained from behind the drums.

They settled on five songs that they will try together, and only booked the rehearsal room for an hour and a half. Max said she wanted to know how their energy would be and decide based on that if they wanted to continue together like a band.

Both Yuki and Lando agreed to those terms, apparently, and that's how they ended up here, ready to play Cherry Bomb by The Runaways.

Lando hummed in agreement and finished tuning her guitar as the other two girls chatted for a bit. Lando still felt a bit too nervous to join the conversation. She needed to at least tune her guitar first.

“I'm ready now if you want to start?” she asked after fighting with the E string for a bit.

“Perfect then, I don't know if you remember the order in which we will play the songs today, but I have noted that we should start with Cherry Bomb, yeah?” Max asked.

“Yeah, I just want to ask how it's gonna be with singing?” Yuki asked, replying to Max but looking straight at Lando.

“I was thinking since both of you are pretty good singers, you could take turns, and we would play each song twice so that it's equal for both of you, and we will see from there,” Max suggested.

Lando had no idea that Yuki also wanted to sing. Well, whatever, at least her throat won't hurt too much after a concert if they split lines.

You're talking about a concert before even finishing the first practice, naive much?

Yuki looked back at Max as she replied to her. Lando also shifted her gaze towards Max, listening to the suggestion.

“Sounds good,” Lando agreed, and Yuki hummed and nodded her head.

“Great, so which one of you wants to start?” Max asked, shifting between the two girls. Lando was usually the shortest one in the room, with her 165 cm, but Yuki looked even smaller despite having some platforms on.

Yuki shrugged and looked at Lando small grin slowly appearing on her face.

“I can start, Lando is maybe still tired from the subway run, and we should let her catch a breath,” Yuki said teasing smile appearing on her face. Which was far from fair. Lando was usually the teasing one, not the tease.

Lando rolled her eyes, but smiled; she lowkey deserved that little jab.

“Yeah, whatever,” she replied eventually and looked from Yuki to almost bored-looking Max.

“Alright then, let's start,” Max nodded towards Lando.

“Oh, right,” Lando replied, realizing the song didn't start with drums, but with the guitar riff.

She started playing, and soon the girls joined her. Lando often leaned too close to the mike, ready to sing some line, but always quickly cut herself off when she realized Yuki was already singing.

The girl had a nice voice. Strong, clear, and high. It sounded good, and it would complement Landos deeper one. Some of the syllables rolled off strangely from the girl's tongue. Japanese accent apparent.

There was only one moment in which Max went a bit too quickly and threw Yuki a bit off. Since Lando was the only one playing melody, she managed not to fuck up.

Still, they got through the whole song without any major mishaps on the first try, which was pretty decent if you were to ask Lando. She couldn't fight the smile that slowly appeared on her face while they played.

She loved the energy; they had a silent understanding. Now she understood what Max meant in the text. Hopefully, the girls felt the same way.

Lando risked a glance at them only to be greeted with a similarly big smile on Yukino's face and something close to satisfaction on Max's.

“Well, that was pretty decent. I'm sorry for my little mishap. Can we try again with Lando singing now?” Max asked, her gaze now aimed at the Brit.

“Pretty decent? This was amazing, guys! I have been on so many auditions, and the people barely knew how to hold a rhythm,” Yuki rambled excitedly. Her eyes were basically sparkling.

Lando couldn't hold a grudge against that face, even if she tried honestly. The girl was simply too cute.

“Don't be too excited, Pinkie Pie, we still haven't heard Lando sing, maybe she sounds really bad,” Max said, but there was apparent excitement in the undertone.

Lando gasped overly dramatically and held a hand close to her chest. When did this teaming up to make fun of her happen?

“Are you implying that I'm a bad singer, Max?” She asked rather dramatically, even putting her other hand over her forehead in a mock fainting gesture.

Now that finally drew a snort out of Max. Lando felt really proud, her inner bisexual loved making the masc mean girls laugh. She couldn't help it.

“I'm saying that we didn't hear you sing yet,” Max stated, but the frown left her features, which was still successful.

“We are skipping the most important part of the sentence in which you called me a Pinkie Pie. Who even is that?” Yuki asked, confusion taking over all her features.

“How can you not know who Pinkie Pie-”

BANG BANG

The loud sound of the drum interrupted whatever it was that Lando was trying to say.

“Guys, even though I admire your enthusiasm, we have some work to do here and only fifty minutes to spare since Lando was ten minutes late. So now more playing and less chitchat,” Max said firmly, but not meanly.

Lando blushed a bit at the reminder of her minor fuck up and nodded.

“Please start,” Max nodded towards the Brit, and they started the song yet again, now with Lando as the vocalist. Lando almost forgets to sing, too used to Yuki singing now.

It went even better than before; all of them were more confident and comfortable. Only Yuki started to sing the first part of the chorus before she quickly cut herself off and realized her mistake. Lando had to hold herself and not start laughing.

Other than that, it went almost too well.

“Well, what do you think. Is my singing alright enough for you?” Lando asked in an overly confident manner.

She needed to hide her insecurity somehow. Since she didn't have time to warm up her vocal cords. It was all right, but she knew she could do better.

“It's good enough,” Max replied, but the tone had a sign of sarcasm in it.

“I guess you can make me backup vocals, but it's nice that your voice is lower than mine; it complements nicely,” Yuki said, grinning at Lando.

“That was exactly what I thought of when I heard you sing, but there is no way I am only your backup,” Lando announced, her eyes wide as she stared back at Yuki.

Max shrugged as she watched the exchange.

“As I said, I think you could split the lines based on the songs we will write and whose voice will fit them best.” Max started explaining.

“Or who wants to sing them, or who wrote them. It's good to know that both of you are decent enough singers and different. We can figure out who sings what later,” Max ended the discussion.

The other two girls simply had to agree. Not only because Max was the woman in command, but because she was surprisingly sensible.

“Yeah, sounds good,” Yuki nodded and smiled like a tiny angel. She was cute in that cheeky way. Lando liked her but was still a bit intimidated by both of the girls. They looked unpredictable.

“So next is Take me away, right?” Lando asked about the next song they were about to play.

Max looked at her and checked the list on her phone.

“Yeah, you're right, let's do this,” Max confirmed, and it went similarly to the first song. Max counted it down, and Lando started playing the riff, and the other girls joined her.

The rest of the practice went similarly. They played their scheduled songs, had a quick debrief, and gave each other little points before moving on to the next one. After both of them sang it, of course.

It came out in a short while, in which songs whose voice sounded better and who should sing what, but nothing was seriously decided. They even asked Max if she wanted to sing.

She refused, but Lando knew from Danny that her voice wasn't bad at all, so maybe in the future…

Anyway, time flew by quickly since Lando had so much fun and already came here late.

“Well, girls, this was nice and all, but we have only a few minutes left, and we still have to pack, so chop chop,” Max said and got up from her stool.

Quite ironic if you were to ask Lando, since the only thing Max had to pack were her drumsticks, but whatever, Lando needed the time as she quickly started packing.

“Won't you at least help us pack Maxie if you are all ready already?” Yuki asked with an innocent smile.

“I'm making us a group chat, Pinkie Pie. I assume you both want to continue playing with me, right?” Max asked, but all of them knew it was more of a rhetorical question. None of them could deny the fact that they enjoyed playing together and had great energy together.

“Yeah, I would like that,” Lando answered nonchalantly, not wanting to sound overly eager since Max already knew she wanted to join.

Always eager, childish. That's what Chris called her…

“Yes, this will be awesome, guys. But we forgot the most important thing,” Yuki rumbled on happily as she packed up her cables adorned with some charms. There was no way it was good for them, but whatever. Who was Lando to judge?

It wasn't her cables anyway.

“What did we forget, Yukino?” Max asked, looking up from her phone, her expression more serious now.

“Well, of course, our name,” Yuki answered as if it were the most obvious thing. On the other hand, they needed a name if they were to be a group.

“Right, we can decide that on the gc and the time and day of the next practice as well. You alright with that?” Max asked again, still clicking something on her phone.

“Yeah, sure, just one more thing,” Lanod started as they finally packed up and Max locked up the rehearsal room.

“What?” Yuki asked, now bouncing with energy, as Max gave the key back to the tired-looking receptionist before joining them again.

“Oh, the money, right. I will send you QR codes later, but it shouldn't be too much. I know a guy who will make it a bit cheaper, and we were here only for a while.” Max replied as they walked outside the building.

Max took out a pack of cigarettes, immediately putting it between her lips and reaching for a lighter in her pocket. Yuki, on the other hand, took out a bright pink vape.

Well, Lando could deal with this as long as they won't do it in the practice room and won't blow it in her face or something.

“Not really, even though I also wanted to ask that, but I thought more about our songs, how it will work with that?” Lando asked her the initial question.

The lyric about her summer fling still lay untouched in her notes app after one particularly harsh night. She wrote many songs before, but none of them felt as strong to her as this one.

It was somewhat shame that it was about that fucker, but it helped her a bit. To write out her thoughts about the whole situation.

“Well, I thought that we could always send each other demos into the group chat and, of course, try it if we all like it. I will be glad if both of you participate in the songwriting part.” Max answered, easily blowing the smoke in the opposite direction from Lando.

“I write a lot, but I don't want all the songs to be only from one person. I would love it if all of us gave a little piece of ourselves into this. If you don't want to, of course, you don't have to. But if whatever came to your mind, be it melody, harmony, or text. Don't be shy to send it.” Max continues after taking another drag.

“That's amazing, I have to warn you, though my English still isn't the best, so my text will probably lack,” Yuki answered, joining the conversation lightly.

“We can talk about what you want to say and write it together or something if you're sure about the words. I also think that the whole writing part won't have to be in the practice room since the rent there is kind of pricey. We could make a separate hangout before or after practices only for that, but I feel like that's still in the future quite a bit.”

Max added and looked back over at Lanod.

“That works for you?” Max asked, staring directly at Lando. From this up close, it almost looked as if each of her eyes was different in some way. Lando was probably really tired and seeing things because what the fuck.

“Yeah, sounds great. I would love to sing and write something of my own. I think that's one of the reasons I wanted to join a real band, not a revival or something, you know?” Lando explained a bit.

“That's so true. Why would we even have a band if all we did were covers?” Yuki agreed quickly.

“Still, guys, I think we will have to play some covers at first. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Writing a good song takes time, and I would rather play a good cover than a shitty original.” Max took a final drag of her cigarette before she threw it into the trash can.

“Of course, I just wanted to know if we are all on the same page,” Lando agreed and shrugged.

“Well, then, if that's all for now, I will text you later, okay?” Max asked as she nodded towards a car parked nearby.

“That's your ride?” Yuki asked, surprised. Lando couldn't help; her eyebrows also rose; there stood a shiny red car that looked real fucking expensive.

“Yeah, it's just this prick that always bothers me, but he does have a good taste in cars, I can't deny that,” Max shrugged and headed towards the car.

“See you later,” she called after them. Yuki and Lando shouted their goodbyes in her direction as they left towards the direction of the subway.

“Fucking nepo babies,” Yuki complained, her tone still high and cute. Lando couldn't help but laugh.

“What, it's true, there is no way the boy paid for that car with his own money, he looked way too young and handsome,” Yuki continued, only making Lando laugh harder.

“Yeah, you're right, it's just funny the way you say it,” Lando said as they stepped down the stairs into the subway.

Soon they parted ways as each of them headed in the other direction. In no time, she was sitting in her train heading in the direction of her small apartment.

She unlocked her phone after she sat down, going through the messages. Not answering most of them, only checking from her pinned friends.

From: Max F

U still up 4 the stream tonight??

Oh, right, the stream. Lando was supposed to play Call of Duty today. She totally forgot about the whole first practice thing. Thankfully, she should be home in about half an hour if the subway doesn't have any delays again.

She lived surprisingly close to the practice rooms. It was nice that she didn't like travelling long distances.

To: Max F

I'll join a bit later. I had the first band practice today.

Lando replied and noticed the group chat that Max created under her pinned message; she quickly pinned it too. Otherwise, it would have no chance of surviving. Nobody texted there yet, and she had only notifications from randos, so she closed the Instagram.

She plugged in her earphones and put on some Avril Lavigne songs, looking out into the dark out of the window.  Fortunately, the subway had no delays this time around, and after a fifteen-minute walk finally stood in front of her apartment.

It was almost criminal the fact that she lived on the fourth floor and the building had no elevator. The additional exercise every day wasn't something she enjoyed.

As soon as she entered, she quickly shrugged off her jacket, fixed up her makeup, and went straight towards the computer, turned it on.

When it started, she didn't hesitate and put on the Twitch and COD app, joining the stream.

“Hey guys, I'm sorry for being late. I was out for longer tonight.” She explained to the chat that she sent her heart and supportive emojis. Well, at least some of them.

A lot of people sent only eye rolls or laughing, whatever.

“Hi Bob, I was almost starting to think you ditched us,” Max Fewtrell, Landos's best friend, said. And stream and banter started.

It was a lot of fun, and she was able to make some decent money from the stream. One of the reasons why she could afford to live alone in an apartment as a student.

Since she joined a bit late, she didn't make as much as usual, but it was still decent enough money. She felt drained after the stream, though.

It made sense, though Lando felt drained after every stream. Despite being loud and extroverted. Her social battery was relatively small, and deep down, she was an introvert.

She fell asleep quickly after the stream, only changing into her pyjamas and washing up. Too tired to look at whatever she had to do for tomorrow's lecture. Almost forgot to set her alarm.

_______

It was the end of August, and Chris took her to a nice place, nicer than the usual ones they went to.

“Is this your way of asking me on an official first date?” Lando asked playfully, but her tone was hopeful. Chris looked away from her; on the other hand, not meet her energy.

It was sometimes like this, him being different from her when they were in public than when they were tucked away in Landos' apartment, hidden away from the world.

“Not really, no. It's more of a nicer goodbye, I would say,” the Argentinian said, not meeting Landos' eyes. They already ordered their food, and Ladno felt very hungry since they entered the restaurant.

But now it felt like a cold fist was holding her stomach. Surely she misunderstood. It was just the language barrier or something. Right?

“What do you mean by that?” she asked again, her tone now lacked the cheer, though.

“Well, I'm flying back to Argentina in two days, and I don't want whatever this even is. Hold on, long distance so-” Lando didn't even let him fish this. How dare he sit here all nonchalant?

Fucking pretending that it's nothing after they spend their whole summer together going on dates and kissing, watching movies, and doing whatever fucking couples do.

Sure, they never said it out loud, but it was damn loudly and heavily implied what was going on. At least Lando thought so…

“Why are you telling me this so late?! You literally told me you are here for studies, the semester havent-” Now it was Chris the one interrupting. Not wanting Lando to make a scene.

“I was here on an English course, Carino, not for college,” Chris explained as if that was obvious, despite never telling her before.

She felt so stupid suddenly. It all made sense now. How he never wanted to introduce her to his friends or even tag her on a story. How he didn't like them going to public spaces and never calling their relationship serious.

Lando was his summer fling at best. Meanwhile, Chris had a good relationship here first. Oh, how stupid she was.

He called her childish many times during those last two months, but Lando always thought he found it endearing, cute if you will. Now she knew how he meant it.

The revelation hit her like a truck. She only managed to sit there as they brought them their food. She didn't even touch her pizza or say goodbye to Chris. Just quietly left.

There was nothing for her to stay for.

_______

DING DING DING DONG

The alarm screamed from Lando's cell phone. She gornaed and rolled of bed. It was only 7 am, and the lecture started at nine.

There was enough time to get ready nd grab a coffee, but not for another sooze. Which sucked, of course, since she still felt pretty tired. Whatever.

Lazy, not tired. Chris would say.

She pushed the thought to the back of her head. Chris was not here anymore; it doesn't matter what he thinks. Lando argued with herself.

After dressing up rather quickly and checking the state of her kitchen, she decided to buy a latte and breakfast as she exited her apartment. Wrapped up in her fluffy jacket and with warm tall boots finally left.

Lanod didn't like winter. She was always cold and had to put on so many layers. It was impractical, ugly and noisy. In summer, she could wear all her cute tops on display. But during winter. None of that.

Ugh.

Annoyed about the weather, she quickly rushed to her cafe. It was a small place on her way to campus, which was since it wasn't too close to the other faculty and student housing.

The only close one was some engineering building, but those freaks usually only drank dark coffee from the automats, so it was usually blissfully empty.

Staff also already knew her and Landos' crazy orders. You see, Lando loves the taste of coffee, but only after it's covered in four layers of caramel foam and some kind of sprinkles.

She entered the cafe, and warmth greeted her. It was so much nicer here than outside. There was only an old couple sitting at a small table close to the window, and a group of students, all with their laptops open and speaking only sometimes quietly to each other.

One of the boys looked up when she entered. He was kind of quiet, blue-eyed, and blondish. He looked sort of like a Ken, but in a nice way. Lando smiled at him, and the guy's eyes widened as if realizing something.

Bit weird if you were asking Lando, she quickly turned away and went towards the counter.

“Hello, can I please get the caramel latte with extra caramel and the chocolate sprinkles?” She requested with the cutest smile she could muster. The girl didn't look like she really cared about that, though.

She clicked up something on the tablet in front of her before lśhe looked back at Lando.

“Anything else?” The girl asked, her voice was way nicer than her expression, to be honest. Well, who was Ladno to judge… If she worked at the cafe, she would be annoyed all the time.

“Yes, please, one of the cinnamon rolls,” Lando added with a smile.

One of the only good things about November was that they always had cinnamon rolls.

“Okay, anything else?” the girl asked again after she added the cinnamon roll onto the tablet.

“That will be all, can I pay by card?” She asked, knowing damn well the answer would be yes.

“Sure,” the girl answered, Kayla, if Lando could trust the name tag. After that, Lando went to sit down at one of the tables as she waited for them to prepare her order.

Putting on her music again, as she had to stop it before ordering Lando had this strange feeling as if she was being watched.

She ignored, though and looked out of the window, scanning the cold street. God, she really didn't want to go out there again. The weather sucked so much today.

Soon her order was called, and she went towards the counter, taking her cinnamon roll and coffee. If whatever Lando was having, you could call coffee, that is.

As the Brit turned around, ready to leave the cafe, she was met straight with a maroon shirt in her face, and she only watched horrified as some of her drink spilt on the person standing in front of her.

Well. Fuck.

You're so clumsy, Lando. Seriously, it's not like you're seven anymore.

The voice suspiciously similar to Chris's rang through her head.

He never really said things like that, but it was always heavily implied what he thought about Lando's clumsiness.

“Oh my god! I'm so sorry I didn't see you at all. I'm sure that will stain here just…” she trailed off, panicked as she put the rest of her drink and cinnamon roll into the guy's hand and reached into her purse for the wet wipes.

She pulled them out quickly and fixed up the shirt as much as she could. Now, instead of a white milky stain, there was only a floral-scented dark spot.

The t-shirt was navy blue with Red Bull logos. Lando had no idea that the energy brand made t-shirts, but whatever.

Water is probably better than almond milk or whatever. Only after she was done, she risked a look at the guy's face. Realizing that he never said anything.

Quite the opposite, he was standing still the whole exchange, as if in too much shock to do literally anything other than stare at Lando. Which is quite fair but a bit weird.

Lando tilted her head, meeting his eyes, and the guy finally reacted, breaking from whatever mental train of thought he was stuck in earlier. He looked down at his now-stained t-shirt before he let out the cutest laugh known to mankind.

Oh my god, he's so cute, I want to pet him.

A quick thought rushed through Landos's head. It could sound pretty random, but the guy kind of looked like a puppy.

She needed his Instagram. It was faith, surely.

“Oh, it's alright, my friends always tell me to buy other shirts anyway, I will at least now have an excuse,” he replied, looking from the stain to finally meet Landos' eyes.

He was so cute with his light brown eyes and freckles. How could Lando ever stand a chance?

“Still, you should-” Before Lando could finish her perfect pick-up line, the guy glanced behind his shoulder. Before grabbing Lando by her shoulders and moving their conversation a few feet away from the counter.

Lando didn't even notice there was a girl behind them getting her order too, only when the guy moved them. Despite that, his attention never fully left Ladno, waiting for her to finish her thoughts.

“I should what?” He asked after Lando froze a bit from the whole moving thing. The guy had way stronger arms than they looked. Sleeper build people call it these days.

Despite that, his hands were small and soft, almost like a woman's. Cute.

“Oh, yeah, you should let me buy you a new shirt since the stain might not be able to wash off completely.” Lando finished her initial thought.

The guy blushed a bit. Soft pink painted his cheeks as his eyes widened.

“Ehmm, you don't have to. I don't want to bother you or anything. You already helped me clean it and everything, so…” he trailed off awkwardly. Lando had this urge to squeeze his cheeks.

She wanted to take a sip of her drink, play with the straw for a bit, but it always worked at the bar. That's when she realized the guy was still holding her drink and cinnamon roll in one hand.

Oh god. When did she even gave it to him?

“It won't be a bother for me, but if you don't want a t-shirt from me, you can just say so,” Lando said, biting a smile creeping onto her face as she reached back for her drink. The guy gave it back to her right away.

Obviously also confused why he was holding it in the first place. Yeah, that made two of them.

“I would, ehmm, yeah, sure if you don't mind,” The guy finally said, and when Lando heard him say sure in that careless manner, she finally caught up on the accent. Oh, this guy was definitely Aussie.

“Mint, then do you have Instagram?” she asked, already pulling her phone out of her purse. The guy chuckled at her struggling before he wordlessly took the drink and the cinnamon roll from her hand so that Lando could look through her purse properly.

She found it quickly after that and switched the accounts. She had two of them, one private that she gave away to randos at the club or new friends, and then her official one.

Lando had 30k people on her official one, and she didn't want to follow random hookups there. Even though it wasn't that many people, she didn't want them to dig around her situationships and shit.

“Find yourself and give it follow will you,” Lando said as she put her phone into the guy's hand.

“Okay,” he said, still smiling softly, before he found his account and gave it follow.

“That's that, I will text you later about the shirt, yeah? Have a good one,” Lando said, smiling softly back at him as she took the coffee and cinnamon roll back from him.

“Thank you too,” he said, and they parted their ways. He went back to the group of students, and all of them pretended not to start the whole conversation, but they totally did. Lando could tell.

That's why she winked at the blondie before leaving the cafe.

Lando headed straight to the campus after that, into the graphic design building. It was only another fifteen-minute walk. She passed several other cafes on her way there, all of them packed since they were closer to other campus buildings.

She walked fast, and in no time, she sat down in front of her usual computer and started munching on her cinnamon roll. She finished drinking her coffee on the way.

The room quickly filled, and she was happy for coming in early. Lando ate the rest of her cinnamon roll just in time before the professor entered and their lecture started.

It was so boring, Lanod's eyes kept flickering to her phone and her thoughts to the cute boy she met in the cafe.

She already stalked his account, learning his name, Oscar. Also confirming he was Aussie based on the flag in his bio. Other than that, the account was pretty unhelpful. There were no highlights or posts.

The only interesting thing was the fact that he followed her public account. So maybe a fan?

But that wasn't probable lot of people just followed her Instagram and not her Twitch. On the other hand, her Instagram was more of a fashion account for the girlies than anything else.

Even though, in comparison to Yuki's account, she was barely fashionable. The girl had almost model-like photodumps, all with beautiful and complicated fits.

Thinking back, Oscar didn't look like much of a fashion guy from what she could tell, but maybe he would surprise her, and that was only his studying fit or something.

Lando thought about all of this during the lecture, not paying attention once. Thankfully, she was pretty good at all of her classes, not having to do that, and the whole streaming thing was successful enough.

Maybe she could ditch the whole college thing altogether when she started the band. Lando already had some draft text in her notes app. The best one was about Chris and their whole summer fling.

The work name was complicated, but maybe she would change it after looking at it with the girls. She was so lost in thought that she barely noticed the lecture end. Only when the people closest to her started packing did she notice the lack of a professor.

Well, not like she could do anything about it. At least time flew by quickly enough that she could text Oscar now without it being too random or awkward.

I was thinking if you are free this sat we could go buy the shirt???

She sent both of the messages before she could overthink it again. It would just have to work out. Something told her that it would.
